I’m actually quite surprised that Poch hasn’t done something similar with Alli in any of the big games this season with how poor he’s been at times. I guess all players react differently to different methods and it’s a tactic Sir Alex mastered. He was never afraid either of dropping a big name

24th February 2018 at 9:51 am in reply to: The Summer Transfer Window – Early days but important #16435I’m not sure I agree with that Chucky. The title has already gone so I’d argue dropping him in an away game in a knockout tie which could potentially give us a massive uphill task in the second leg is a much bigger statement than dropping him tomorrow. Besides, he’s made a statement now regardless of what happens tomorrow. I don’t think there’s any doubt whatsoever at Utd about who is in charge. If he’s back in the team tomorrow, it’s because Jose feels he’s made his point and is willing to give him another chance

24th February 2018 at 7:51 am in reply to: The Summer Transfer Window – Early days but important #16428How do they come up with this stuff?! Who buys a player and agrees to a release clause which is significantly less than what you bought him for? ?

As for the Karma points thing, I was looking at changing it to one I found which was a bit more like the Facebook system where you can react to posts with different “emotions”- like, angry, laughing etc. I’ll have a look round and will look at giving one a try

Completely agree Jim and Brian. Maybe time to close this thread soon but I’ll leave it up for a bit for any interesting closing thoughts which may come in!

The Ghost of Nil:
“Nine, spot on mate. Sky are deviating deliberately the ‘narrative that puts the spotlight on solely Jose and Antonio. Whether or not something would naturally be parked as an underlying thought, the natural priority is about the stakes of qualification for CL and aspiring to finish 2nd.
It should be about the game, but it just goes to show how the decorum of Sky is peeling away year after year to what it first was circa very late 80s and early 90s. Cheers.”

22nd February 2018 at 4:36 pm in reply to: Champions League: "It's a Knockout" Stage (Goonies need not apply) #16269?? Pagan, good shout. I’m not sure Conte or Simeone could be claimed to play much better football than Jose’s teams. Nor has any of the names mentioned won anywhere near as much as Jose. Allegri, I’d have my doubts seeing his side being outplayed at home to Spurs. The Napoli chap I don’t know enough about, which in itself suggests it’s a huge risk. As always, it’s easy to determine a problem but much more difficult to find a suitable solution.

22nd February 2018 at 3:22 pm in reply to: Champions League: "It's a Knockout" Stage (Goonies need not apply) #16257It’s all well and good saying Utd fans shouldn’t accept it but what should the fans do? Jose has just won 2 trophies in his first season. Are the fans supposed to be protesting outside the ground because we’re not playing pretty enough football? Flying planes? Banners? I’m pleased that the majority aren’t calling for the manager’s head so early in his reign.
I’ve still yet to see a good suggestion as to who we should get in to replace him. Any ideas?

Personally Jim, I don’t fully buy into the style argument. People say Mourinho has to win trophies because of the style. I’d suggest he has to win trophies full stop, as does Pep. Style helps but the trophies are what count. If both Pep and Mourinho weren’t constantly winning trophies, do you think Pep would more likely keep his job just because he plays better football? I’m not so sure. Wenger plays nice football but their fans can’t wait to see the back of him. Pep and Jose would both be sacked if they weren’t winning trophies, style or no style

Adlab, our fans have seen success most fans will only dream of. We’re currently second in the league, still in the FA Cup, the Champions League, more money than sense. We’re not playing very exciting football at the moment but when you consider some clubs are on the verge of bankruptcy and many more are battling relegation in the lower leagues, it’s not all that bad really is it?

21st February 2018 at 9:55 pm in reply to: Champions League: "It's a Knockout" Stage (Goonies need not apply) #16224Jim, indirectly I think he has yes. He seems to have upset the balance of the team with him and Pogba both wanting to operate in that pocket on the left hand side. I’m sure we’ll find a way to utilise them both effectively but we’re not there yet

21st February 2018 at 9:51 pm in reply to: Champions League: "It's a Knockout" Stage (Goonies need not apply) #16220At this rate, that Utd Chelsea game isn’t looking all that appealing either. I just have visions of both managers sending out a team with no strikers and just camping out in their own penalty box waiting for the other team to attack! ?

21st February 2018 at 9:46 pm in reply to: Champions League: "It's a Knockout" Stage (Goonies need not apply) #16218Well that was rubbish. Almost glad I missed the first half. Was deliberating over whether or not to play football myself and ended up playing. At least I saw some goals there!
I still think we’ll go through. Just really not creative at all recently this side. We’ve looked poor ever since Sanchez came in if I’m honest.
Ah well, at least I don’t support Arsenal

21st February 2018 at 7:37 pm in reply to: Champions League: "It's a Knockout" Stage (Goonies need not apply) #16204I know Mav. I just mean with the money we’ve spent we SHOULD be, but we obviously won’t. I’d take a 1-0 now. I’d take a score draw actually!
