Nine, I echo what I said by email. Wishing you all the best and hope things start to look better again soon.

Mak, not a bad shout. Something to consider, for sure, if even more are needed going forward.

Great stuff, Hightown. You’re now a moderator. In terms of what to do, don’t worry too much about it. Just really means you can now edit posts, delete posts, merge posts, close threads etc. Most of which you’ll not need to do anyway.

Oh and Brian, really sorry to hear about your losses. You’re a real asset to the site and always a voice of reason

Not at all Mak. Always open for suggestions and ideas. Would happily add another moderator as long as there is someone happy to do it. Ideally someone who doesn’t get involved in stuff themselves though 😁. My suggestion would be Hightown but he’s probably not on here enough.

Mak, totally get that. I’m all for pulling young blue up for that kind of comment. I’d have done it myself if I was on the site at the time. I just think it was a totally disproportionate and unnecessary reaction.

Young blue, happy to delete your account if you wish. Would just ask you to sleep on it and if you still want to delete it tomorrow, I’ll happily do so.

For the record, I’ve blocked Paxton. I’ve always said I just don’t have the time to police this site as it’s something I do in my spare time rather than a job. I hate blocking people but Paxton seems to have made it his mission to annoy Chelsea fans and, despite a friendly hint this evening, continued to do so.

Completely understand if anyone disagrees with this but please understand I’m merely trying to keep this place as somewhere where fans of all clubs can come on and discuss their opinions without being jumped on.

Paxton, while I agree that the conspiracy thing is a silly claim, there’s really no need to jump on young blue the way you did. The Chelsea lads, like any others add a lot to this site. We need to be able to disagree without attacking posters like that

Brian, he’s nowhere near getting into the team now and that’s saying something these days where Utd are concerned. If a club would be prepared to not only buy him but give us as much as £30mil, it would be a very good piece of business for Utd. I don’t believe it for a second though!

Please let the rumours of Lingard to Spurs for £30mil be true. Imagine that!

Not really sure where Utd go from here though with Pogba. Do you:

    1. Sell him this summer. This is almost impossible as nobody can afford him. Juventus are the most likely destination with Pirlo a big fan but they can’t afford his wages.

    2. Keep him on his current contract. Would leave us next summer with him only having 12 months left meaning we’d get hardly anything for him.

    3. Give him a new contract. Only worth doing if we’re going to play to his strengths as his wages will be sky high.

Really not sure what the best thing to do is. I’d potentially look at getting rid this summer but look to bring the cost down for a potential suitor by trying to get someone we need in return. For example, go to Pirlo and say we want De Ligt and Douglas Costa. Both would massively improve Utd and I do think there’s a top player there in De Ligt despite a mixed first season.

Oh they’re definitely not fit Sean. 1 pre season game in which most of the first team didn’t even play is ridiculous.

Still, very concerning how poor we were regardless.

Agree on Pogba. Ole insists on him playing a deeper role as he can pick out a pass, which he definitely can. The problem is he is so easy to press and he just loses the ball. Only way to get the best out of Pogba is to play him much further forward in a more creative role. Problem with that is that all of him, Bruno and Van de Beek play best in that position.

Who knows Sean. Considering Gabriel’s handball for Arsenal didn’t even go to VAR, you’d have to say no. Just so inconsistent.

No difference at all between the Lindelof and Gabriel handball incidents today. Neither should have been given but the lack of consistency is just ridiculous.

Steve, how does this awful West Ham side come away from the Emirates with twice as many shots as the home side?! I tell you what, it’s not going to be pretty at all this season from 3rd down. City, Liverpool and Chelsea’s squads are all much stronger than the rest.

Agree Mak. 2 poor decisions (pen and retake) in terms of common sense calls albeit both were spot on by the letter of the law. That said, almost every keeper steps off the line like that on penalties. Both harsh calls but makes little difference as anything but a Palace win would have been unjust today.

Completely agree Mikus. Said it last season. Fernandes papered over the cracks in the second half of the season. Fortunately for Utd, every other team who finished below us was crap, too, so we scraped into the top 4. With everyone else now strengthening, Utd have a real battle on their hands to get anywhere near top 4 this season.

Ole just isn’t good enough. The fans can go on about Woodward and the Glazers all they like. The reality is that a better manager is needed if we’re going to get the most out of these players. It’s a shame though as I like Ole, the man. He’s just not a very good manager.

Well Utd have a long old season ahead of them 😁. Dreadful. Feel a bit for Ole even though I don’t think he’s up to the job. He’ll be gone before the end of the year and the cycle starts again.

At that price, Thiago is an absolute no brainer. That said, if I was a Liverpool fan, I would start to be a little concerned that the average age of the first team squad is creeping up.

Firmino, Salah, Mane all turn 29 within the next 12 months. Henderson is 30, Thiago and VVD will both turn 30 next year. That’s the core of the first team there. Who are the young players ready to challenge the first reamers?

They’re going to be a real force this season, without doubt, but I do wonder what the long term plan is there. The moneyball strategy only woks if you buy young players before they reach their peak and sell at the right time. That front three all creeping towards 30 with no real challengers must concern Klopp.
