Yes thoughts with him. Looked very worrying. Just read that Muamba was in effect dead for 78 minutes when he collapsed in 2012 and survived so fingers crossed

I guess that’s a good point for Wales considering they were outplayed for large parts of the game. 2 tough games for them now to go through. A defeat would have made it almost impossible I think.

Sean, it’s a shame to not see the Irish there. Great set of fans. It’s unfortunate for Ireland that both Rice and Grealish chose to play for England as they’d have made a massive difference to that side.

Also worth pointing out that all those Celtic forwards made the transition from the SPL to the EPL at a time when the gap in quality was nowhere near what it is now. Celtic and Rangers were good sides back then. The step up to the EPL from Scotland is huge now.

Again, there’s absolutely nothing to back up this theory that Chilwell offers more going forward. Not a single stat backs that up. Shaw created the second most chances of any defender in the league, second only to TAA (and more than double the number Chilwell created per 90mins and in total). I genuinely don’t believe anyone can say that who has been watching Shaw all season.

Shaw’s form did dip in the last few games which is a good argument for going for Chilwell to start. No issue with that. But that he offers more going forward? Not for me. 1 in 5 of Chilwell crosses were successful against 1 in 3 for Shaw. Massive difference.

I’m not digging out Chilwell at all here but it’s a complete myth that Shaw doesn’t offer enough going forwards.

Completely agree Nine. No arguments from me there. I was referring to Steve’s reasoning as well as his suggestion that it’s not even close. Very unfair on a player who’s been probably the best LB in Europe this season, certainly in the league anyway, as evidenced by his TOTY place. England are blessed for options in both FB sides and no combination would have me particularly concerned. Much more pressing matters in the selections.

Better attacking from chilwell and a much better crosser of the ball

That’s just not true Steve. I suspect you probably haven’t seen much of Shaw this season if you say that.

    Chances created per 90min
    Shaw 2.5
    Chilwell 1.2

Shaw more crosses per 90. Much better cross accuracy. Better pass accuracy. The players voted him as one of the best in the league (over Chilwell). I totally get anyone choosing Chilwell but to say it’s not even tough after the season Shaw had means there’s no way you’ve watched him enough this season!

Sean, I doubt he’ll go for Sterling and Rashford. He very rarely chose them both together at the World Cup. Was always one or the other. Neither deserves to start but both are great options off the bench.

Shaw was dogshite?! He was in the Team of The Year πŸ˜„ so you could say the same there. What more does he need to do? Shaw just edges it for me. No surprise that Jose didn’t pick Shaw though after Shaw was quite critical of Mourinho’s handling of him. I like Chilwell but I think Shaw is just ahead of him for now. Shaw also does a decent job in a back 3.

Would be a huge statement of intent Nine. Would be great to see him come to the PL.

There’s definitely an argument that it’s crazy money considering he’ll be a fraction of that next summer. Although, there will be a hell of a lot of clubs wanting him next summer. This might well be Chelsea’s only chance of securing his signing. I think it’s one of those that you have to try to do if it’s possible, though.

I could see Haaland to Chelsea. Utd are not an option based on his Dad’s past with Utd. Pep won’t deal with Raiola and vice versa. He wouldn’t go to PSG and the Spanish giants can’t afford him, nor can Liverpool. Pretty much leaves Bayern and Chelsea and Dortmund would much sooner he went to Chelsea. Besides, Lewandowski has another couple of seasons at the top.

Brian, City are already odds on favourites for the title. I think it’s safe to say, as Nine also said, that Grealish and Kane going to City would make the extremely unlikely (anyone except City winning the league) almost impossible. I’d love Utd to challenge Brian, I really would. But we just don’t have the squad to compete with City over 38 games.

Agree with that Foxy. Moyes surpassed expectations more than any other manager. City did pretty much what everyone expected, as good as that still was, mind.

Adlab, I really like both Grealish and Sancho. Sancho hasn’t really had much of a run of games yet for England but I’ve been very impressed when I’ve seen him in the CL and the few times I’ve watched him in the German league. I assumed City fans would have known all about Sancho’s quality.

Only thing that annoys me about Grealish is his diving. He is one of the worst in the league for it. I’d still take him at Utd any day, though! Seemingly he’s a Utd fan, too, but I don’t think we could afford him at the price Villa want.

If City get Grealish and Kane and add them to what they’ve got everyone else is playing for second place.

Very much so Nine! Though with both likely over Β£100mil each, I have a very hard time seeing both joining City this season. Frankly, either of those going to City and it’s game over for everyone else next season, I think.

Sure, but then you’re conceding that it’s not always about who is the better manager πŸ˜€

I don’t disagree with the last part. Chelsea have proven to be great at making the right decisions. They also sacked Conte, though, so he can’t have been that good!

    But Lucky, this:

Ed our club made the correct decision appointing lamps

    And this:

It is a simple as who is better btw, its always been that simple, whether we talking players, managers, car mechanics or chefs.

Are massive contradictions. Are you honestly saying Lampard proved at Derby that he was better than Rafa, Wenger, Allegri and loads more who were all either available or very gettable? Not a chance.

Besides Lucky, weren’t you a big advocate of both bringing in and sticking with Lampard, despite managers like Allegri and Rafa being either gettable or available? Care to explain how there’s any difference? Lampard was a complete rookie.

Conte wouldnt give a shit about garner and bloody chong and why would he?

You’ve made my point for me πŸ˜„. Exactly, why would he give young players a chance? He knows he’s there for a season or two, if that. Why would he care about the long term future? You see that as a positive. I see it as a negative.

Again, you’ve missed my point if you think I’m bigging up any of the players in that list. I’m not. But the likes of Greenwood wouldn’t be an option for Conte as I don’t think they’d have ever been given their chance.

Ole better for utd than conte, just can’t believe it mate its like I am talking to a scientologist or something πŸ™‚

πŸ˜‚ fair enough. I really don’t think it’s as simple as “who is better?”. The club needs to build something long term. As I keep saying, we’ve tried the quick fix (with the best quick fixer in the business) and look where it left us.

Take someone like Charlie McNeill at Utd. Broke all kinds of records in City’s youth academy then rejoined Utd’s academy as he saw a better path to the first team (& he’s a big Utd fan). He just had a record breaking season for the U18s, beating Greenwood’s best season. He might make it. He might not. But under Conte I don’t think we’d ever know until it’s potentially too late. If he does make it, that could save us Β£100mil on a striker.

Of course its special sean, WHEN THEY ARE GOOD ENOUGH!

But if they don’t get a chance, we’ll never know if they’re good enough. That’s exactly the point. Conte is definitely not known for long term planning at clubs.
