Joking aside, what an amazing transformation Lingard has undergone.
Haaland supposedly after £1mil a week! I really hope all PL clubs tell Raiola where to go if these stories are true

All very good points Nine. Spurs were very poor under Poch ever since that CL final so it’s possibly a bit unfair to lay all the blame at Jose’s door. I’m not sure any of Allegri, Rodgers or the like would want that job, to be honest. I do wonder if Howe is delaying joining Celtic in the hope he is in with a shout for that job. Really can’t see him doing much better though really.
As for Kane, it’s looking like he’s probably had enough there but who could afford him? Considering Spurs’ financial position, he’d cost a stupid fee, probably £150mil+. If you had that kind of money to spend on a striker, you’d go and get Haaland who has age on his side.

Fair points Mikus. Re the young players, yes I felt he did ok there in terms of bringing players through, McTominay a great example. But, at times, it did feel a little forced, as though he was trying to be what Utd wanted in a coach rather than being his usual self.

I’m not sure I agree with that last paragraph Mikus even though I agree with a lot of your other points.
It wasn’t so much about hoping he’d be a more attacking manager but more about hoping we’d get the Jose from his first Chelsea spell and his Real Madrid spell rather than his second Chelsea spell.
His Real Madrid side were far from a defensive side. They were (I think still are) the record goalscorers in La Liga history. Chelsea were a brilliant side under him, too, in his first spell in particular.

Agree Mikus. I’ve also been quick to defend him but it’s very much looking like he doesn’t have much longer at the very top of the game. In the past, you’d go 1-0 down to a Mourinho side and you’d be out of the game but the way their heads drop suggests his approach just isn’t working anymore.

So close to being similar to the home Spurs game which was also ruined by an awful decision where a Spurs player goes down too easily and gets the decision. What a poor decision. McTominay not even looking at Son.
Very good second half from Utd. There were lots of comments about Utd’s poor record against the top teams earlier in the season but we’ve now gone to both City and Spurs and convincingly beat them at their place.
Glad for Greenwood who’s been brilliant recently but not had the numbers to back it up.
Commiserations Shiney.

Jesse Lingard is on fire. Would be a huge win for West Ham this.

Yeah Sean. I think West Ham and Liverpool will have to hope Leicester slip up as Chelsea look like they’re going to be too strong to not get top 4.
All the best Adlab with your operation and general health. Stay safe.

2-0 already! Going to be some race this for the top 4.

We all have Nine, let’s face it 😄

No, I’m not not comparing the clubs in either scenario Nine. I’m simply saying the likelihood of Utd winning the EL is, according to the bookies, about the same as the likelihood of Chelsea getting top 4. It’s not a case of comparing clubs. Of course the situations are entirely different. The quality of competition is indeed higher in Chelsea’s case in the fight for top 4 but it’s also much easier to slip up in a cup competition. 1 bad game and you’re as good as out. As we saw at the weekend with Chelsea, one bad game and you’re still in the fight, and against much inferior squads, too.
I wish I shared your optimism but people were saying the same last season in the Europa League when we reached the semis as well as when City got knocked out of the FA Cup.

We’re around about evens money so there’s plenty of money to be made for anyone who genuinely thinks we’re nailed on Nine! Whilst we should have enough to win it, Arsenal have taken 4 points off us this season, Villarreal and Roma can’t be taken for granted. To put it into context, Utd are just about the same odds to win the EL as Chelsea are to get top 4 and I’m sure nobody would say that’s nailed on yet either.
Nobody would have thought City would get knocked out of the CL by 7th place in the French league last season and they did. Cup competitions have a habit of throwing up surprises. Who would have thought Arsenal would have won the FA Cup last season?

Interesting numbers Mikus. What a turnaround for West Ham so it’d be really tough on them if Nine’s post is accurate and Antonio does miss a lot of their remaining games. Moyes has to be nailed on for Manager of the Year if he somehow gets top 4.
I still think another Leicester collapse is coming.

Yeah that’s it Mikus. While ever there’s no outstanding candidate and we’re progressing in the league, I don’t see what the benefit would be of sacking him. I remain convinced he’s not the right manager for us but there’s really no rush to get him out while we’re gradually improving and securing CL football. None of the names out there who might be interested fill me with any enthusiasm.

Agree Sean. Ole has bottled so many semi finals now. I’m not convinced he has enough of a winning mentality to win the EL either if I’m honest. If he does win it though, like you say 2nd and the EL is a decent enough season.
I doubt he’ll get sacked though if he gets second, regardless. I don’t think he’s the right man for the job and I never have. But nobody had Utd finishing as high as second at the start of the season. While ever he continues to make progress in the league (I think we’re still more than 10 points better off than last season) he’ll be safe I think.

Who’s Marie Sean? I reckon I could beat her over two legs, never mind Chelsea!
Agree about Tuchel. They’re not a particularly entertaining side to watch under him but much more effective than under Lampard. It’s that age old argument about performance vs results and Tuchel is so far delivering on the latter. It’s at least easier to build a more entertaining side to watch from a solid foundation than vice versa and you’d expect them to become more entertaining with time.
Speaking of Conte, what a job he’s doing with Inter. Surely due another big job soon, with all respect to Inter.

Good win that for Chelsea. Should be enough to see them through to the semi. It really is wide open the CL this year. No real stand out team.

Wow I didn’t realise he got booked as well Sean. I saw Rodri somehow avoided a booking for his dive too.

Ridiculous decision to rule the Bellingham goal out. City quite fortunate there. 2-2 is a completely different second leg.
Massive mountain to climb for Liverpool. Can’t see then going through. Liverpool have gone from needing to put everything into the CL to needing to put everything into the league again if they want CL football again next season
