Brian, I love reading your posts so I have no intention of falling out over anything like this. My posts are always meant in good spirit. I just like having a moan every now and again π
Of course you know more City fans than I do so I’m only going by the little I see and read.
I think as fans we all feel our clubs get bad press and are hard done by from time to time. We also all tend to feel rival clubs get favourable treatment. It’s simply confirmation bias at play the majority of the time. For example, I think City get incredibly kind cup draws all the time. Is that because I genuinely think there is something untoward going on? Of course not.
What you’ll slowly start to see as City start to win more is more and more resentment towards City and claims of them getting decisions that others wouldn’t and claims they get favourable press. It comes with the territory of being at the top for a long time. People see things that aren’t there because it fits their agenda.

Would definitely be interesting to see it trialled. I do quite like Wenger’s idea though where you’re onside if any part of you is onside, although that’s unlikely to change the amount of controversial calls.
I also like Wenger’s idea of having the World Cup and Euros every 2 years instead of every 4. Most players now, at best, get chance to play in 4 World Cups. 1 bad injury and that significantly reduces what is already a limited time to shine on the (arguably) biggest stage of them all. It would mean a big tournament every year. I realise it’d be putting more strain on an already heavy schedule but squads are bigger than ever and I’m sure the club sides would be happy to see smaller leagues to lighten the schedule somewhat.

24th March 2021 at 1:00 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 29 & FA Cup Quarter Finals #176809That’s the case for us all Adlab. Press are giving Klopp and Liverpool a real hammering now, as they did with Utd after the weekend. Anyway, can this International break be over soon so we can get back to club football? Feels even slower and longer now with everything else going on in the world, especially since we’ve had pretty much non-stop football for months.

23rd March 2021 at 4:03 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 29 & FA Cup Quarter Finals #176803That’s it Sean. Brian, I’ve no problem at all with City’s recognition. I think you’ve misunderstood me. They’re getting very much well-deserved praise and adulation. What I find bizarre is the reaction from the City fans, despite all that adulation. There seems to always be a feeling of the world being against City (among their fans). Uefa, referees, the media etc. It’s just not the case. This thread is testament to that. Talk of the quadruple in the media is instantly suspected to be the media trying to set City up for failure, as though they have an agenda against City when it’s just not the case.
As I said earlier, no problem at all with City getting the recognition they deserve. My point is I think City fans should be better at accepting the recognition and enjoying it rather than look for non-existent hidden agendas amongst all the praise.
As Sean says, the press are fickle and will jump on anything that sells papers. City are far from unique in that respect.

Thatβs it then many of us will find another club to support, I have now swapped City and Chelsea around
Thatβs it then I will formally move over to City.

23rd March 2021 at 11:14 am in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 29 & FA Cup Quarter Finals #176794Not at all Moos. I’d sooner City won things than most of the other top sides with whom we’ve had longer rivalries fighting for titles. We’ve never really been good at the same time City have been good and vice versa. That may change if Utd get their act together soon but we’ve not had years and years of fighting for the same titles like we’ve had with the other sides.
I just find the whole “poor City. The world hates us” attitude mind boggling as City get so much praise and recognition.
I realise you’re one of the newer generation of City fans so you might not know why there is that mindset generally, but I’d love to know where it comes from.

23rd March 2021 at 9:52 am in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 29 & FA Cup Quarter Finals #176791It genuinely baffles me that City fans still hold this view that the world is against them. They’re very much the media darlings at the moment. The media can’t get enough of Pep & co. So much talk about the winning run and whether or not they could make it and now so much talk about the quadruple. That City fans now see that as some kind of warped way of setting them up to fail is bizarre.
Enjoy it lads, it doesn’t last forever! You’re really losing out on so much well deserved recognition by constantly acting like there’s some kind of agenda against your club.

Steve, similarly, I wish we got the Leicester you lot smashed at their place a few weeks ago!
Agree with you re Arsenal. I worry for your club, I really do. I used to really dislike Arsenal through the Ferguson vs Wenger years but it’s quite telling that I actually feel sorry for them now. I want to start disliking them again π

Nine, I sense another “my greatest ever achievement..” moment if he does get top 4 π. Would be kind of ironic considering how much stick he used to give Arsenal for basically being content with 4th every season

Agree Sean. All are odds on with the bookies. If anyone does drop out, I still have a feeling Leicester will be the one to have a wobble. They play City next with a difficult trip to West Ham after that. Their last 3 games are then Utd, Chelsea and Spurs. I genuinely think either Spurs or West Ham could catch Leicester with Liverpool an outside chance, too. 10 points is not impossible to claw back considering Leicester’s remaining fixtures.

22nd March 2021 at 8:01 am in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 29 & FA Cup Quarter Finals #176765Adlab, Maguire was poor yesterday. Vardy ran him ragged. He’s been pretty good though this season, to be fair to him. He’s far from the biggest issue Utd have at the moment.

21st March 2021 at 6:57 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 29 & FA Cup Quarter Finals #176755Leicester the better side today. No excuses. Utd poor at defending set pieces again. On the plus side, at least we won’t be suffering semi-final heartbreak again π

π I wouldn’t bet against it Steveo! Ole does have a real problem with bottling semi-finals. Would not surprise me one bit if we get past Granada then go out to Ajax/Roma.

As did Palace Steve, another midtable side π

Gj, I deliberately didn’t include the League Cup as Adlab himself said it was pointless! I’ll give you Utd though if we’re going to include the League Cup, although you didn’t even meet us until the Semi. Arsenal are a midtable side these days

About time you had a difficult draw if you get through to Bayern Adlab! City could basically find themselves in 2 huge semi-finals having faced the might of:
Porto
Marseille
Olympiacos
Monchengladbach
Dortmund
Cheltenham
Birmingham
Swansea
EvertonSafe to say lady luck is wearing sky blue this season!
Goes without saying the Europa League is a second rate competition Adlab but it’s such an elitist mentality to say it’s pointless. Not every club can compete financially with the biggest clubs. I don’t think CL clubs should drop down into it, but I’d be very happy if we won it, now that we’ve got his far. Will be glad to see the back of it if we get top 4 though

Very nice draw for all 3 PL sides. Expect all 3 to progress with Liverpool maybe the biggest question mark, if any. City have had a very nice draw again. Chelsea with an nice draw but had a tough draw in the last round.

No worries Steve π. I suspected so. Still, I’m sure you’ll be pleased to beat that United anyway!
