And btw, this really was the worse month for us Result wise; no wins in the whole of May. I tell you something bluntly that annoys me big style; either people are cowards in the media area, or designed to do ‘U Turns’ going back on their word, but you don’t half now listen to some absolute rubbish defending Slot the way they’re doing.

Belt up for goodness sake. He’s not being sent to Jail, he’s being relieved of his duties and with a Pay Out!! And boy there is 101 Ample Justification!

Well, Thiago AlcΓ’ntara does have a holiday pad in Mallorca…I wonder who was there recently that couldve done a deal πŸ€”

Thiago AlcΓ’ntara and James Milner would be two good additions, Milner though will play till 55 haha

Im not convinced by iarola as ive said before but there is literally no one else. Whats he done to get such a massive massive job?

Seen this before with frank, potter, rodgers and many more. Its an absolutely massive step up for him. Still i wantrd slot gone and if he gets us playing like Bournemouth then great

I think next year is a right off if we are to give him time. New players needed who can actually run so macca is-in trouble . He ages to get going at bournemouth

I do like hos character. Hes good in front of the camera and has an excellent rapport with Bournemouth fans. Slot just didnt have the character. He didnt get it.

I really hope this works out but he needs time

There’s more to look at than “what’s he done”. Look at his style, his man management.

If we just want “winners” then we should have gone for Jose or Conte. I for one is happier to be going for someone with a modern and exciting style and is known for working his team hard in training.

Enrique would have been my no 1 choice, followed by Alonso, but seems the manager vs head coach put at least Alonso out of the running.

I’m excited to see what Iraola can do with this squad, not exactly Klopp heavy metal but a return to fast transitions will be most welcome.

Gotta say, im not overly convinced either, but my main concern is its another tight link to Hughes…what next, by half the Bournemouth team?

No fair comments threeps. Im vert interested to see what he can do but very very rarely see such a high jump in clubs work. Ive mentioned his style and man management. He has won nothing. He has not worked at a massive club its an absolutely massive step

Frank, rodgers, potter all prime exanples bit i do like iraolas character. Lwts see. As i said if he can implement his style then excellent

Frank failed because he had a small club tactical style that would never work at Spurs.

Potter failed because he went from a stable, close-knit enviroment at Brighton to the land of the loonies at Chelsea, with way too big a squad to handle.

Rodgers failed, although was pretty close to a title, because of his ego.

My main concern with Iraola is he will see many more teams sit back in a low block and nullify his style a lot more at Liverpool than Bournmouth, but that applies to any coach. But I dont think he is a one trick manager, I think he can mix it up when needed, like utilising the wings more etc.

Just glad to be rid of the Van Bronckhorst horseshoe!

And he will be a coach not a manager which I dont like, especially with our two above him.

A long one but instructive of Iraolas progression….

                                    Analysis on Andoni Iraola:

                                    1)INTENSITY

The data backs up the eyes

22/23 Iraola’s Rayo Vallecano forced more high turnovers which led to a shot (68) than any side in the top five European leagues except Bayern Munich (73)

In the past 2 seasons at Bournemouth Iraola’s side are

-99th percentile and 98th percentile for high press shots
-100th and 96th percentile for aggression

                                    2)INJURIES

Up until July 2025 Iraola at every club – every season – had a negative trend ….

Iraola had NEVER overseen a second half of a campaign that outperformed the first in terms of points gained

He had a reputation for burning his squad out during the first half of the season and tailing off with injury issues even without European football

In 2024/25 season they lost over 1100 days to injury

3)2025/26 – JANUARY CHANGE IN APPROACH & POSITIVE RESULTS

                                    2025/26 Bournemouth

                                    A) Post their best injury numbers as an aggregate of injuries and illness suffered in the past 8 seasons
B)153 games missed due to injury ranked 8th in league
C)Post a huge improvement January 2026 to end of season
D)End the season going 18 games unbeaten
                                    E) Iraola’s side end the season performing well during the 2nd half of the season with a budget that should result in a lower bottom half finish

Quite remarkable when they start the season absolutely flying – 2nd place after matchday 9

Then suffer significant injury crisis and go 11 games without a win between Matchweeks 10 to 20

                                    WHY? WHAT CHANGED JANUARY ONWARDS?

                                    A lot.

                                    A)NEW PERFORMANCE CENTRE

Bournemouth had invested over Β£30m in a new sports science and medical performance centre.

This was functioning fully January 2026 onwards

                                    B)DR ROBERT MARSHALL

Recruited in summer 2025 he arrived from RB Leipzig in July last year as Bournemouth’s Director of Medical and Performance.

                                    Iraola raves about him

His role was in part to ensure all the departments within the performance centre worked in harmony in conjunction with Iraola.

                                    C)SQUAD AGE

2nd youngest squad in the league I am sure helps

                                    D)IRAOLA

Iraola made tweaks in line with the performance centre recommendations

Training and in game set up changes reportedly helped

                                    Rotation

                                    Strategic substitutes

Arguably had the performance centre been in place July 2025 Bournemouth may have posted even better improvements in their injury data at the end of the 2025/26 season as it’s skewed by first half of season data

There is a lot more to delve in to in respect of his tactics, in and out of possession set up, authority, leadership and training methods

Based on the work done at Bournemouth January 2026 onwards it would suggest that Iraola can work positively complementing the performance staff at Liverpool

He will also have even greater resources in all areas at Liverpool

He has also ended the trend of his sides physically and results wise blowing up during the 2nd half of a season

There is a lot he needs to prove – and managing European campaign and Premier League is an obvious one – but he can point to the lack of performance centre (up until recently at Bournemouth) and the results since the integration of the performance centre / Dr Robert Marshall, positively as evidence of how he could work with the performance staff at Liverpool to balance intensity and the schedule.

Regarding Iraola, I have a high opinion of him, especially after he beat Arsenal, against all odds, 2-1 at the Emirates, plus wins against us and a draw against City.

BUT there are a number of issues with Iraola, which may or may not be a problem:

                                          1. Heavy metal, high pressing football, played all the time can burn out the players, and lead to more injuries.

                                          2. Can he control the game, and kill off the opposition, where required? Klopp, in particular, I think would have won more big titles, if he had more of this aspect to his game.

                                          3. Iraola (unlike Klopp and Slot) has never managed a team playing in Europe, so how will be handle this DUAL workload>

                                          4. Can he handle big players like Van Dijk, Alisson, Szoboszlai etc.

Either way, I 100% hope he succeeds at Liverpool, if he gets the job.

“And he will be a coach not a manager which I dont like, especially with our two above him.”

True, and if I were Iraola, I would DEMAND a big say, or at least some say, over transfers, both incomings and outgoings, otherwise No Deal.

For example, even Sander Westerveld said that Slot definitely wanted DΓaz to stay but was overruled by the delusional Hughes.

And there are several other top players and pundits who have openly asked why TF was an elite winger/attacker like Luis DΓaz sold?
