I actually liked how Slot handled press conferences in his first season. Seemed very switched on. Never seen such a fall for a coach as everything he said last season seemed to be disillusional. Same as his tactics.

High demands from a training perspective too, very few days off but that may change from one game a week w/Bournemouth to 2-3 games a week at Liverpool. Has too. His past idea and implementation of periodisation will need to be adjusted.

Iraola is business-first, quite hands-off, he’s got no time to mollycoddle players, and delegates much of the direct man-management to his coaching staff.

“Rather than adopting a classic “arm-around-the-shoulder” approach with every individual, Iraola is a distinct type of man-manager who leans heavily on his coaching staff to maintain close player relationships, allowing him to focus on setting the tactical blueprint”

Even Tyler Adams of Bournemouth said it:
“He doesn’t talk to us after games. That’s not a negative thing. That’s not a positive thing. It’s just that’s what he does.”

All that matters is results, however, hope Iraola can get off to a flying start, and win the title quite soon, like Slot did.

let´s not entertain the troll too much, I find it a bit fascinating that Iraola did his first impression and has basically just stayed silent since then until today. He just went straight to work with the u21 players or the academy and got to know everyone before his first proper press interview. I also really like how he talks about all the players on a first name basis. He mentions basically all the young players at the club either working like Harvey or doing rehabilitation like Connor, Hugo, Giovanni.

I always found Slot so rigid and boring, no passion, always trying to prove how smart he was. He cared more about being smart than passionate.

I always remember this lesson I learned back in the day when I was actually playing football, I think I was around 14-15. So I was playing with the u15s for two years basically and I had two very different coaches. One of them was very technical and kind of strict, still a nice guy and good coach but he did not really care about team chemistry. He thought that would sort itself out on it´s own.

Then my senior year in the u15 we had another coach, very charming older gent that just made sure everyone got a long, nobody could be enemies on the team. He cared way more about team chemistry than the technical aspect of the game. Just told us to go out and have fun basically every practice.

The 1st season we ended up 16th in the league, the 2nd season we finished number 4 in the league, got to some playoffs as well.

This is the reason why Angelotti has won as much as he has done. He is the ultimate team chemistry manager.

3ps I think we were just blind because it all went right to start with Slot. Watch his first presser and then watch Iraola´s. There is big contrast between the two interviews. Have also a look at how Klopp did in his first presser.

Slot was alienating players in his first season, it managed to work until the end of the season and then when everyone left the rest of the lads were just not up for it with him onboard.

Then we can be pretty sure it was Wirtz who got told off about not being able to play like he did in Germany. The other possibility is Frimpong but he grew up at the City academy so I doubt it´s him.

It is kind of self explained that we do not need someone cold and ruthless, we need the exact opposite to that. We need a manager that protects his players at all times, we all do not wanna work for a manager that throws someone in front a bus like Slot did repeatedly.

Our special poster might disagree with that but its just opposite of what ever he states.

Rob Iraola points out the culture that has worked and states that he wants to emphasize on that aspect. High pressing team, that basically submits everyone we face into a low block.

Munoz really excites me, cause he does not have to have a big end product to be a supplier for Isak. He got so much pace, one of the fastest lads in Spain. Amazing career so far, I´ve never seen a prospect that impresses both at La Masia and Castilla.

Then every other target we have for the other with got pace to burn, we are gonna be extremely quick down the wings. Probably the fastest we have ever been, every forward target we have got pace and dribbling ability.

I´m not expecting the league next season but we can not lose as many games next season. I expect a top 3 finish next season.

We distinctly lacked wide attacking options last season.
                  That number hasn’t changed.

Ginger, Rio will feature in about 75% of games next season 2000-2500 minutes, Gakpo is leaving because of that. We already got that forward that can be our next generational talent, I´m not worried. Munoz is a excellent prospect as well, one of the youngest lads of the Spanish international sides. He got there on merit. What we need is one other forward that can do about 2000-2500 minutes of gameplay. Maybe even less than that. I mean we all read the same reports about certain heads clashing over Rio´s future. This kid is as big of a prospect as Fowler, Owen, Gerrard, Sterling. I´m absolutely certain about him and I wanna say the same about Nyoni. The only thing that can stop those two prospects is a major injury. We saw the kid get MOTM in almost every match he started in, half the matches he got brought on as a sub. Then Nyoni was the only player to impress me in our last game of the season! I think he went from doubting if he could make it into a firm believer he can make it. I don´t like building youth prospect to be more than prospects but I see something in Nyoni. I really do, if he could pack on a few kilos of muscles, he could dominate that space he belongs in. At 18 he can do it in the latter minutes of the game but I really wanna see him develop. He does not make mistakes in midfield, he can spot a good pass as well from midfield, he only made about 400 minutes of game time last season but there have not been many 18 year old midfielders flirting with the first team for a long time.

Last summer when I raised the issue of being “undercooked” up front I was told it’d be fine coz we had Rio and Chiesa.

We seen how that worked out.

                      Since then we’ve lost Salah.
Ekitike is out for much of the season.

                      The only incoming is Muñoz.

We are even more “undercooked” as things stand.
                      We have less options.

We need a squad not just an XI.

you forget Gakpo and we will have other incomings mate, that is 100%. We don´t even know if Rio will be on the right or left flank, he can operate on both, so can Munoz and the incoming player we are gonna get as a replacement for Salah. Depending on Gakpo we might have another forward coming in as well.

We were mismanaged last season. I get what you mean but I am not worried about this scenario, I know the club will take care of it before the beginning of the season.

                          I havnt forgotten Gakpo.

He has here last season when I said we were undercooked.
He’s still here and we are more undercooked.

If Gakpo leaves and another comes in then that changes nothing in terms of options.

It’s the same arguements rehashed a year later.
                          They still don’t hold water.

That’s only true if you think we had proper management last season, where all of our players underperformed,

We still got the same goalies, the same left backs almost from our winning season, we got the same center backs except one is gone and we got two new prospects.

Right back is a problem position but I’m sure it will be taken care of this summer.

Right forward is also a problem but we are prepared to invest heavily there.

Jones is still here, so is Macca, I quite like Gakpo as a squad player even if I don’t believe he can carry the team.

Not a single player at the club became a worse player over the last season, they just had the wrong management.

Ginger – part of the problem with Chiesa was he would fling him on for 10 minutes and expect miracles. Im not saying he was a world beater but slot did not even use the limited squad he had properly.

We had just won the Championship and I was saying last summer we were too light up front going into the new season.

This borne out to be true very quickly into the new season.

                                Nothing has changed to date.

In fact it has got worse.

We need to build a squad not just an XI.

This goes for across the squad not just up front.

There is so much business to be done, so little has been done and so little time left.

There is so much business to be done, so little has been done and so little time left.

FSG and Edwards & Co have massively dropped the ball. This season should’ve been about building out the first team, but the signings we made, Slot’s dire second season, and the number of contracts running down have created a huge issue that almost everyone saw coming like a steam train.

Yes, people were praising Edwards & Co for landing Isak and Wirtz, but if you’re going to pay top dollar — or over the odds, which we did, then the whole point of elite sporting directors is getting those players before they hit that price bracket. Overspending now obviously affects future spending, and we all know FSG don’t like to part with money. So that overspend has cut into what we can do next.

And just wait until next season, when we’ve got another five or six players out of contract.

As for this season, the story is that “the plans were already set”, and that’s why Edwards left, supposedly after telling FSG last August (so i’m to believe) about his future intentions. If that’s true, then Hughes is now responsible for executing a plan he didn’t design. But what if those plans don’t pay off? The Diomande saga said it all: pay big, hope it pleases the fans, and ignore the fact we still have players running their contracts down, and the team is going backward and up in age.

All while FSG see their asset price increasing, they’re happy.

I told you a while back that LFC was becoming a basket case. Well… here comes the basket case.

This is nothing to do what I’m talking about.

Edward’s role was to oversee the multi club model.

                                    That’s stopped/stalled.

This is why he came back to the club.
                                    That role is now obsolete.

I expect signings to be done.
My fear is not enough signings will get done considering the amount that needs done and the time that’s left.

My understanding is that Edwards was appt chief exec of football operations with ‘one’ of his tasks involving the multi club project. Other tasks included signing off on budgets, recruitment, strategy, other off field stuff.

Gordon now has those responsibilities I believe.

In agreement Moonster, foundation is key meaning ensure that the current players are proritised and contract situations resolved before adding to the squad. That’s what new players wanna see. Such and such tied down long term. Gives them a feeling of security.

Incoming players don’t want to see things ‘up in the air’ and turmoil in the boardroom giving them, potentially, apprehension coming in and when it’s their turn for extentions.

The last 11 months have been utter dogshit with regards everything from expensive players not fully establishing themselves, boardroom bollocks, injuries, losing three senior players, one death, fuckin dickhead Slot tactics culminating in 20 defeats, 60% of which in the PL and costing (quite rightly) the coaching dept. getting their P45’s. At least we have shining lights in Iraola, Jacquet fully fit plus Leoni and Hugo getting fitter.

                                            Let’s trust the process… I guess.
