I don’t know if there is a Correlation between Konate choosing to leave and then the news of Slot leaving breaking into public domain.
Mixed messages came across from the rumour which us guys took on board earlier in the week about a new appointment to accompany and support Slot.
Saturday was a weird day to make such announcement and I’m thinking whether this piece of news was on the back of something heavy going down in the background either very recent or something already pre-empted but then confirmed to dispel speculation once and for all.

31st May 2026 at 2:35 pm #247691Mac, its been well reported that Alonso insisted on some changes upon taking the Chelsea job.
“In a significant departure from the structure that defined previous regimes under the BlueCo ownership, Chelsea have officially appointed Alonso as manager rather than the more restricted head coach role. This change signals a major power shift at Stamford Bridge, granting the 44-year-old a much broader remit over recruitment and first-team operations than his predecessors.”
“One of the primary conditions for Alonso taking the job was a fundamental finessing of the club’s recruitment model, according to the report. After spending over Β£2 billion ($2.7bn) on emerging youth talent with limited domestic success, the club has agreed to Alonso’s demand for more ready-made senior players. This pivot away from a purely youth-based strategy is intended to provide the necessary balance to compete for the Premier League and Champions League immediately.”

31st May 2026 at 3:21 pm #247693IΒ΄ve seen some reports that Hughes asked players to wait with any potential moves until this is cleared up, I can see a couple of the players having a change of heart about moving, there are 4-5 players that can come back into the fold. I even think Chiesa might reconsider a move right now.

31st May 2026 at 3:35 pm #247694Bingo, I can see a reboot and a refresh which is what the club needed from the academy (which I know about at first hand and all was not well with AS) all the way thru to the first team.
Bring it!

31st May 2026 at 3:40 pm #247695I think a lot of the coaches are going as well, we will see a whole new team taking care of training, I doubt anyone will survive.

And thats were Ward’s words really cut through, specifically with Gordon, it was one of the biggest issues FSG had with the Slot regime. The two keepers on the bench by Slot was seen internally as a protest against the youth set-up.

31st May 2026 at 4:33 pm #247699Only Nyoni and Rio got any game time from him, leaving Ramsay on the bench every game the whole season is another example. Sure he might not be the best player in the squad but he was the only rightback available for most of the season and zero gametime. Klopp would have used him 100%, just given him his chance to shine and just force Konate and Van Dijk into backing him up. Boost his confidence, we have seen plenty of rightbacks come in when needed over the years, not everyone has grown into a player. We got players such as the scouse Cafu or Flanagan.
I actually quite like Nyoni from what IΒ΄ve seen from him, itΒ΄s very rare to see such a young player handling that position, he never gives the ball away. He packed on a few kilos last season, I also found him unusually disciplined for such a young lad. He could be a very good midfielder, more on the defensive side I feel.

31st May 2026 at 4:59 pm #247701Bingo the whole lot have cleared mate. Van Bronckhorst included. That’s what I love and am excited about this. A clean slate altogether meaning the players have a new training regime to look forward to and hopefully one that suits them and the staff.

31st May 2026 at 5:03 pm #247702Bingo, I was at the Academy at Xmas and sat right across from me in the canteen on his own was Calvin Ramsay. He looked miserable and felt for the lad. The table next to him had Rio, Nyoni and the bros (not meant in racist sense btw even tho they were all one colour…LOL). Ramsay maybe saw some light at the end of tunnel with his Palace appearance and injuries to Bradley and rubber ball Frimpong then get the door shut in his face again.
From what I was indirectly told was that everything is different under Slot and not in a positive way. The wheels were slowly coming loose during the first half of the season.
To see him get the bullet yesterday didn’t surprise me in the slightest even tho I thought he’d be staying.

31st May 2026 at 5:10 pm #247705The whole coaching department was a circus revolved around Feyenoord and their methods. The training program was a excuse to go visit family in Holland. IΒ΄ve never been more happier about a regime change except when FSG took over from H&G and installed Daglish again.

31st May 2026 at 5:12 pm #247706I think a big name is heading in, Slot was basically hired to be the fall guy in my opinion, he just got lucky in his first season.

31st May 2026 at 5:23 pm #247707Bingo, yes, Slot did inherit Klopp’s team but he did make his own tweaks, won almost 70% of his matches in his first season, had a unbeaten 6 month stretch, won the league and topped the Champions league group. That still takes some doing even with somebody else’s team so no discredit from me.
I don’t hate Slot (enough hate in the world) and wish him every success going forward but the honeymoon period quickly ended and I think once all the wrapping came off we saw the true Arne Slot.
A change was needed and a change is what we got.

31st May 2026 at 5:56 pm #247713I donΒ΄t think he made any significant changes really, the only thing he did was slow down the intensity in training and give the lads more time off. He was so slow he did not even see how that backfired on him this season. Every player has dropped their won duals to 10-20% this season, with a few exceptions such as Van Dijk and Konate.
The tactics were even forced upon him because of contract disputes, he had to cater to Salah and Van Dijk the whole season as to not to upset them. As soon as they sign he breaks every promise, or is forced into breaking every promise he made to them as he was the weakest manager IΒ΄ve seen, just yes man and a fall guy.
He just got lucky with the squad he inherited and nothing else.

31st May 2026 at 6:10 pm #247715He did make positional tweaks Bingo and bought his own tactics and style. It just wasn’t a match once that honeymoon period ended.

31st May 2026 at 6:10 pm #247716You could clearly see last season that Slot was introducing his style on the team. How many times did we start a game slowly, only for Slot to intensify (go back to Klopp style) in the 2nd half? I though he was a genius and this was part of his plan, start slow and suss out the opposition then sucker punch them later, but I was wrong.
Training takes a bit longer to change, you need to change the players mindset which takes time. But change he did, now they will probably get a shock when the next guy wont give them a 3 day mini break every few weeks!
Salah summed it up very well.

31st May 2026 at 8:28 pm #247726Rob, same mind and I’m sure practically everybody on here feels the same and are mature and sensible enough to otherwise not be hateful and insulting. We are forever grateful of Arnie winning us the League, regardless of the argument of inheriting Klopp’s Team.
We still had to put in the hard yards.
However this season was a stark contrast. It got to the point where I was no longer looking forward to the games or only at best half-looking forward knowing how they would play out. It was same type of excuses or reasonings every other week. The Life and Soul was Taken out and ultimately a change needed to be made for the sake of Liverpool Football Club.

31st May 2026 at 8:28 pm #247727Rob the positional changes were forced upon him as we did not get our targets in that window. Neither did we get our target in the January window, Slot was forced to rely on Gravy as a defensive midfielder. It was not a choice he made so I am not giving him credit for it. Then Klopp had already experimented with Diaz as a false nine so that is not a tactical tweak he made either. Trent forcing his way on the team in his last season had just as much to do with our tactics as Salah forcing his way on the team. Neither was a choice made by Slot, he just went along with how they wanted to play for the majority of the season or until our results turned to crap.
