I think a good thing about Iraola was his decision to leave Bournemouth. He knew heβd taken them as far as he could and is clearly ambitious – not willing to just sit comfortably in the same job again. His demeanour also seems one of confidence in himself, calmness but also a cheerfulness about him which I think helps.

Richard Hughes has today flown into Paris to meet the agent of both Bradley Barcola and Lucas Beraldo. Beraldo is more of an enquiry nothing serious from that yet. Barcola is to discuss personal terms.Thats the post doing the round, I cant confirm or deny the facts…

1st June 2026 at 4:10 pm #247789There is a reason why Sir Alex Ferguson is the greatest manager in English football history.
And that’s because he made sure he was the BOSS, and NEVER allowed a player to become bigger than him.
That’s why he he kicked out SIX players, Norman Whiteside, Paul Ince, Jaap Stam, David Beckham, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Roy Keane after their negative outbursts about United, furious clashes with the boss, and their egos getting too big. Rooney was the only player to survive, when he tried to to leave United, but he was forced to stay at the club and issue a grovelling apology in front of the squad.
At Liverpool, Salah thought he was bigger than Slot, and after he made the “thrown under the bus” post in December, Slot should never have played him again, and instead sold him in January – this is what Ferguson would have done.
So, my advice to Andoni Iraola, if you join Liverpool, NEVER let a player become bigger than you at the club, stamp your authority, and sell any player who undermines you.
Same for Arne Slot, after being humbled by Salah, learn from your lesson and never let it happen to you again at whichever club you go to.

Yes, and sometimes this can mask a cold, hard, ruthlessness, which is definitely required, when necessary, to manage at a big club at Liverpool, with big players, some who have bloated egos.

1st June 2026 at 4:45 pm #247799I would take Milner back in a heartbeat as a coach, does he have a coaching license? Thiago is working on his but I donΒ΄t know if he has finished them. I would love them both back into the fold, two of the most professional players we have seen at the club.

1st June 2026 at 4:50 pm #247801Good shout re Milner. He’s at the stage and Ready. If not, I would recommend him joining Frank Lampard at Coventry. That would be a great learning move for him and he stays in the Prem too if he intends in staying in the game and has sights on Management.

1st June 2026 at 5:00 pm #247803Only said about Milner cos, wink wink nudge nudge…no proof though. Come on, even the forum police cant say my timing wasnt impeccable on that one…but they will im sure.
Could you imagine the training with Milner and him out running the players at 40? How embarrassing would that be! What a driving factor that’ll be.
But, it certainly looks like Thiago will be there and even AdriΓ‘n has been contacted.

1st June 2026 at 5:24 pm #247806we should take this all with a pinch of salt, I bet a lot of former players with coaching badges are willing to join but that does not mean they will. Timing impeccable BTW.

1st June 2026 at 5:31 pm #247813Interesting set of ‘audience’ commenting on the BBC site on Slot’s departure; “should have given him a third season” “Joke of a club”
Very easy to shoot throw away comments. Has to be trolls or opposition fans adding their usual green peppers into the pan.
