Tonali doesn’t seem to be able to dominate the midfield for Newcastle even with Guimaraes and Joelinton beside him happy, let alone on his own.
Not sure who I’d have gone for mate, but definitely three, including two very athletic, quick, combative defensive types with a more expansive third.
I’m just not sure we should be looking at mid to later 20s, comfortable, famous, already made it type players. Young, ambitious, hungry, relatively inexpensive with everything to prove types that will blossom into top players are the type we should be after. I want to be excited by the incomings mate and Tonali and Ederson doesn’t excite me._____________________________

Problem we have of course, is that we brought in Cunha and Mbeumo last summer and neither, along with Amad I’m afraid, appear to be good enough. But there’s absolutely no way we’ll ditch Mbeumo or Cunha because that would mean the club admitting it had fucked up yet another 150 million quid’s worth of spend. So, once we’ve fucked up midfield this summer, we’ll probably be able to quietly sneak out the fuck ups from last summer before, in 18 months or so, quietly sneaking out the fuck ups from this summer 😂😂

Disagree with you about Cunha mate. He needs to do more no doubt and games can pass him by a bit but he scores when he has chances. Good finisher compared to Amad and Mbuemo. That is something we need badly. The Ederson talk seems quite real which is a worry. If he’s one of 3 being added to make up numbers with Ugarte going then no issue as it doesn’t look a massive fee. If the plan is to have him and Mainoo next year as the starting two then i think we’re fucked.

The whole thing just feels like a worry to me N1xer, from the appointment of Carrick through to most of the players we’re being linked with. I mean of all the players we’re linked with, not one is someone who’s been scouted other than from watching Sky Sports every week. All household names. Why aren’t we finding the next generation of players from the depths of the European leagues like Bournemouth and Brighton do? We could end up with another cluster of entitled overpaid has beens that we can’t get rid of.

@1Nxer i agree about Cunha he definitely can do more and except from Bruno and Sesko he is the next best finisher in that attack.
@jm when has the club ever scouted beyond media hyped players?? That’s the norm at the club. Ederson is that name we shouldn’t even be linked with at all even if it’s just to make up numbers in midfield; he couldn’t even get into the Brazil squad as a DM ahead of Fabinho who is 32 and plays in Saudi and Danilo who plays for the local Brazilian league.
Ineos are just the Gimps in disguise; you just gotta look at how NICE need to play St.Etienne at play off to survive relegation to know INEOS do not know how to run a proper football club.

Ederson has one year left on his contract hence why Atletico bailed on the reported 45M fee for him but Man UtD are all too happy to pay it.
@Jm same here but Danilo isn’t a media scouted player so no chance there plus he is very mobile and aggressive.

Not sure why Cunha is getting criticism. I think he’s done well this season and scored several important goals. Hopefully he will improve with a better midfield 3 behind him.
We need more players who cause other teams problems. He needs to score another 5 goals next season though.

Better than Mbeumo Jumpers and has scored some very good and crucial goals. But he’s not quite done what I thought he would, has faded in a lot of games and hasn’t linked the play as well as I thought he would.
