I meant out of who we have available to us now.
For me, I would feel much better with 3 in the middle, including Baleba because as bad as he was last season he’s the only option we have that offers any protection. im tired of watching teams walk through our midfield like it’s not there. so it would be 2 out of mainoo, Tielemans, and Santos. the formation I’d have would be 4-3-3 with bruno in that front 3. I don’t see why we need to play with wingers because we don’t have any imo. that would put pressure on rashford, cunha, mbeumo, amad, and sesko to fight it out for the two available forward spots. in theory this should spur them on. in theory!

3rd September 2026 at 11:20 pm #255711@Englishbob Ideally that should be the preferred starting midfield 3 but Carrick has shown many times he doesnβt do the obvious.. I want Sesko to be fit because this experiment of Cunha in the No.9 leaves the team without an actual focal point when attacking.

4th September 2026 at 1:01 am #255713I don’t necessarily see the need for a focal point, mate. I think if you have a front three who know how to move around and off each other it causes as many headaches to the defence as the focal man does. although I will admit that I really liked what I saw of sesko. he’s fast, skilful, and can hold the ball up well imo. for me he’d be the other to start with probably cunha imo as he’s also a threat, much more so than the other options at our disposal.

4th September 2026 at 7:21 am #255717@englishbob i do get your point about having a fluid front3 but the issue is that these lot arenβt fluid enough because whenever we have the ball outwide or in any other dangerous area thereβs literally no one in box and so far only Bruno Fernandes seems to making runs into the box. If Sesko gets quality service he will bang in goals.
Only PSG currently plays successfully with a fluid front3; every other top team has an established No.9.

4th September 2026 at 8:36 am #255725Iβve never liked 4-3-3, it seems to be neither one thing nor another to me, Iβd even rather have a reliable old 4-4-2.
But solid at the back with two protecting the back four but still able to get up and down, means you still have four exclusively going forward in a 3-1 or a 1-3._____________________________

4th September 2026 at 10:26 am #255730People call it 4-3-3 but in reality if you look at it, it’s a 4-5-1, I think people just say 4-3-3 to make it sound more attacking.

4th September 2026 at 8:56 pm #255809The 4 3 3 formation with the fluent front 3 has produced some unreal attacking front 3 line ups. so much better than the boring shitty focal up top. We had Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez. There was Messi, Henry, and Eto. Recently you had Salah, Firminho and Mane. I remember Ronaldinho, Eto and Messi. 2011 there was Messi, Bojan and Villa. Suarez, Messi and Neymar. Bale, ronaldo and Benzema.
Seriously what the fuck has happened to strikers? Why are they all big lumps now?

4th September 2026 at 10:10 pm #255835Yeah bad strikers nowadays in general.
About 4-3-3,you can play it as a diamond like 4-1-2-1-2. So you could play back4 then Baleba, then Mainoo and Santos/Tielemans, Bruno, Sesko and Dorgu/Mbuemo/Cunha/Amad. But without wingers you need flying fullbacks. They messed up that thing really nice in the window so it ain’t working with this squad. Maatsen would be refreshing to see on the left flank. I think Carrick holds his usual formation.

5th September 2026 at 5:13 pm #255905But itβs never actually 4-3-3, it may line up on paper like that but it never sets up like that.

6th September 2026 at 10:38 am #255919Carrick’s new idea forced by the boards inept transfer dealings is Dorgu as the new left back, it’s like a new signingππ. We have already tried it. I rather have him upfront with Sesko alternating with Zirkzee in a 4-4-2 or a 4-3-3. How is Heaven as a left back?

6th September 2026 at 1:02 pm #255930If he’s not good enough to start at Villa, he’s hardly good enough to start for us either. Loan and hope we get Hall next summer is the best option there

6th September 2026 at 1:18 pm #255932Why the fuck are United obsessing over Hall is the question, and why so fucking publicly? Are these cunts thick? The more they shout they want him, the more difficult he is to get. Besides there are plenty of good alternatives at left back out there.
