Trouble is we’ve picked the wrong manager as well mate. I don’t fancy Carrick inputting into the transfer process and I don’t rate him as a coach. He’ll want ready made instead of young, ambitious, hungry talent.

That is what really baffles me; they’ve had all season to plan ahead and still don’t have a clear idea of which midfielders to sign. Also Anderson does have range of passing to complement his energy and mobility.
There are also so many good players available on free yet that hasn’t been utilized.

We definitely don’t need any more strollers mate. We’ve got more in that squad than Mothercare fuck sake. I’m not as sure as you are about Ariola but would have taken him over Carrick without an issue. If Carrick ends up getting bulleted like Ole, then Wilcox and Berada need to be in the same taxi as they’ve learnt nothing from the clubs past fuck ups.

Jm, whilst I don’t disagree with you about Iraola. I heard or read something about he only ever signs one year deals. My theory is that this righty or wrong put the club off him, also I suspect one of the reasons that they’ve not gone for Glasner is his temperament is bit suspect. I find it odd that Real Madrid haven’t gone for either of them to the best of my knowledge.
Maybe the club did contact him but wanted him to sign 2 year deal, if he said no then after getting burnt with Amorim. I could see their reasoning not to sign him but it’s just speculation on my part. It’ll be interesting to see where he goes._____________________________

As JM rightly pointed out the Carrick appointment was purely out of sentiment and emotion. They pandered to the fans and players and that’s it; only at Manchester United.
You just have to look at the England squad for the World cup and admire some of Tuchels brutality with selections and some mind boggling selections too like Djed Spence 🤣🤣(Not that i am advocating to sign Tuchel)

The first question I have regarding Carrick getting the gig. Is if we had finished out of the top five places? Would he still be given the role?.
If I’m being honest the appointment doesn’t excite me, then again I thought Amorim would be a good choice (look how that ended).
I maybe being bit unfair but I get the Southgate vibes with Carrick.
You can’t deny, what he’s done since he’s come in. A lot of people (myself included have stated the fact he’s only had one game a week. That’s not Carrick’s fault and we will only know if he’s capable of managing more next season. (Regardless of who we have in charge there’s improvement need in the first 11 and more so the squad,)
I also think that whilst the top 6 hasn’t been as strong as previous seasons, the middle section of the league has become better so it’s all relative.
Hand on heart I don’t envisage us winning major trophies the next two seasons under Carrick.
However my hope is we can maintain and not have our usual dip. For me the priority next season is to get Champions League football. Make the playoffs in the CL then it’s the look of the draw. Lastly most certainly not get knocked out of the domestic cups in the first rounds.
I think if we can show we’re playing CL football regularly then the likes of Enrique will come. Let’s face it we’ve been a basket ball of a club and that needs to change. My hope is that Carrick could be the man before the man if that makes sense._____________________________

Our back4 is absolute rubbish and when you think of non existent midfield and the front an open heart surgery is urgent. So Ederson, is he really the man to shield the hologram back4 and brake down opponents and function alongside Mainoo? I haven’t noticed him but a highly doubt it. Remember that Atletico ditched Ederson in favor of Gomes. Looks like a historic typical bad scouting from Man United yet again. As for signings I would go for Wolves lb. As for winger Dortmund’s Adeyemi is outstanding. CB’s must be bought too.

Zico that’s the most annoying part; we all know the back4 is suspect and the club can make 1 or 2 additions without breaking the bank which would drastically improve the defense but they won’t because like Happy they are delusional that Deligt, Martinez and Maguire will somehow be indomitables next season.
I did mention there was a reason Atletico walked away from Ederson and focused on Joao Gomes but like @Happy said the club is using Analytics to identify targets 😅😅😅

Looking increasingly like Ederson and Tonali. Wouldn’t have gone near either. I’m getting an increasingly sinking feeling about this summer. Appointing the manager then buying the wrong players at no little cost. Hope I’m wrong about Carrick and the players we bring in but this could be yet another expensive fucking disaster.

Tonali is a top player though. Absolutely oozes class and can dominate a game on his own. Looks like a United type player to me. I know nothing about Ederson apart from he has been No. 1 in the charts for defensive midfield duties the last couple of years and we blew it by choosing Ugarte ahead of him. If its Tonali and Ederson then hopefully its an upgrade on Ugarte who is rubbish and Casemiro who is dribbled past about 16 times per game.

Happy the focus is on what the player has done this season and what he can do in the coming seasons not what he has done in the past couple of seasons of which your statistics are wrong about him being ranked No.1 in all defensive midfield stats. Instead of blowing 40M on Ederson they should’ve tried to get Garner back at least everyone has seen him improve this season plus he can play multiple positions expertly because there’s a reason no top club even in Italy has gone in for Ederson while the likes of LookMan and others have been plucked out of that Atlanta side that ran rampant. He couldn’t even make the Brazil world cup Squad with Fabinho being chosen ahead of him
