Foxy – What on earth are you talking about. We haven’t even conceded a goal. Explain how Glen Hoddle or Terry Venables acheived anything other than Mediocrity with England? Youre vendetta against Southgate is far more apparent than any excuses being made for him. You’re going out of your way to make it seem like we’re not having a good tournament so far. The wheels might come odd against Denmark, feel free to whinge to your hearts content if and when that happens.

Potential tie against Denmark in the semis could be very tricky. They will have a feeling of its our time again after everything thats happened. Tournament football quite quite often doesnt come down to the best team on paper.

I do think the success of Sancho makes or breaks Ole at old trafford.

Thats an improvement on tactically inept and out of his depth for southgate Sean. I’ll take it.
Ps not sure if those were your exact words 😉

Mancunian Mike – It’s a complete myth we’ve had an easy run this time around. The Czechs and Croats are no mugs, never have been, especially at international tournaments. Couple that with a fierce domestic rival and it’s a pretty challenging group. Then our first knockout game is against Germany, who we haven’t beaten in a tournament since 66.

I really don’t understand the “On another day Muller puts that away” comments. It wasnt another day, he missed. On another day we might have won 7 nil. Has as much relevance.

Foxy – Came on here just to say hoow happy i was that Switzerland won specifically because of Pogbas celebration. Tried to look cool by not celebrating, then caved and did 3 little celebrations with teammates, and then did a final celebration on his own. 5 celebrations for 1 goal. It was a great goal, but 5 celebrations.

You’re 100% right Nike19. How many people knew of James Rodriquez before his chest and volley at the world cup. It’s always interesting to see which players shine at the international tournaments.

Foxy – I did write a really long post in response, but deleted it as I thought I was opening a can of worms and going off on a tangent lol. I was simply highlighting he isn’t someone that should be revered, so we will have to agree to disagree. In terms of what he could have achieved with the Golden Era, who knows, my guess would be a tight group stage, followed by a knockout stage exit on penalties, which incidentally is my prediction for us this time around.

I’m just happy England aren’t in that group tbh. Was thinking the other day, isn’t it boring when the big teams get knocked out. As much as I love an underdog story, the quality of football really dries up when the big dogs go home early.

Group of death kicks off tonight. Sneaky feeling France won’t make it out of the group.

I think Dyche would handle the press very well which is a large part of the job

This the same Venables that didnt have to manage a game for 2 years as we were hosting the tournament. The same man that anmounced he was leaving months before the tournament. The same man that’s a bloody crook.

I’m talking about their records for England Sean, which could be up for debate tbh. Capello on paper is far superior to all of them and was dog shit for England.
Ed – can you honestly say Lampards is not up there with the names you mentioned (I do have high hopes for Stevie). I’m not going to bang the drum any longer, but it really isnt as outlandish as being made out when the alterntive suggestions are Dean Smith, Graham Potter and Eddie Howe ffs.

sean – El Tel is a prat, and is only remembered fondly because he had Gazza. Hoddle was unlucky with Becks’ red card but also didn’t do anything with England. What measure are you using to say they were better than Southgate?
Re Lampard, if there is a superior English Manager who should be next in line, I’m all ears fellas. I don’t seem to hold the job in the same esteem the rest of you do. The best managers in world football don’t want to manage national teams. Name one country that has what you would call one of the world’s best managers in charge.

Fair point Mikus, re culture change. I think there is far more team spirit in the national team than ever before, and we’re seeing fruition of that on the pitch. A lack of club egos clashing is a step in the right direction, with the only real ego in the squad being that of Kane, given his status probably not a bad thing.
I won’t ever say it’s coming home again, until it’s in the bloody bag and on the contents insurance, but I do have a good feeling about this team.
Lampard is my pick for next man in charge 9. Though I think his heart is in club management.

Previous England Managers –
Sven Goran Eriksson – Poor football, no desire, big name.
Steve Mclaren – Tories lost this data in an IT Glitch.
Fabio Capello – Poor Football, no desire, big name.
Roy Hodgson – Poor football, no desire.
Gareth Southgate – Ok Football, fair bit of passion, maybe a bit generic?Honestly baffles me the criticism Southgate gets. Please try and remember the last 20 years fellas, watching England since losing the passion of youth has not been enjoyable. GS imo is the best manager i’ve seen for England. Can anyone honestly say we’ve had a better one in the last 20 or 30 years?

Nil – It’s because our government is incompetent, but the majority of people in this country voted for this incompetence, so no one really wants to point it out.
