Giroud is a much better option than Carroll or Crouch and I think will be a decent backup option when Morata is unavailable or not on form. On recent form, I wonder if Giroud may even keep Morata out of the side.
Mahrez is a funny one. Surely, even City can’t afford to pay £60mil for someone who will warm the bench when everyone is fit. I don’t believe they’ll go that high to be honest.

There doesn’t seem to be too much noise around Lucas Moura to Spurs which is supposedly nearing completion. £25mil I read. Spurs lads, what’s your thoughts on this one? Seems like a good deal

??? Both Jose and Pep have complained already this year about not being able to spend enough. They’re “almost” as bad as each other

I wouldn’t mind the conspiracy theory if it had some weight behind it though. The fact City have just been the only top side to draw a League One side in the next round meant it fell apart within about 30mins of Adlab suggesting it yesterday. As mentioned yesterday, Sanchez also nearly had his legs broken against Yeovil and the guy who did it is being hailed as a hero. He got a yellow.
Utd, supposedly helped by Gill, the only top side to get another PL side away from home. He’s not doing a very good job is he?!

Well City the only one of the top PL sides to get a League One side in the next round and Utd the only one to (probably) face a PL side away from home. There is no agenda Adlab!

Gill clearly wasn’t on duty for the Yeovil game as they should have been down to 10 men after that foul on Sanchez!

Top players being targeted has been around as long as football itself. Ronaldo was always chopped down and very rarely protected by the refs even though he had a tendency to go down easily. Sanchez was chopped down against Yeovil and could have easily broken his leg had Sanchez not had his feet off the ground. Defender somehow only got a yellow.
This feeling of an agenda against City just makes no sense at all to non-City fans. You’re literally having the best season of your lives and talking about agendas in the media, the FA, the PL, the referees. You guys should really start enjoying the season a bit more. The pundits can’t stop raving about you!

By my calculations, £300mil combined on those 3 would only leave about £20mil to split between the Hazard and Kane fees, after taking out the De Gea fee! I can’t see any club in the world being able to buy those 3 in one window.
That said, Real are almost certainly going to be flexing their muscles come the summer as they’ll not want to appear to have fallen behind the other money clubs. It’s all about appearances and brand image for them.

Would have been up for it if I was back home in the UK for it. Bet it’ll be a decent match. Argentina always seem so blessed for attacking talent. Messi or not, there will be plenty of stars on show

Sorry to hear that Sean. Completely understand your reaction to Nil’s outburst.
Nil, you really could do with taking a leaf out of Sean’s book and enjoying the forum for what it is and stop complaining about the setup, the posters, the club pages etc.
I’m tempted to change the tag line to Sean’s quote above. “Footydebate- This is a fucking football forum!”

P.S I apply the above to myself as well and won’t be editing any posts unless in the circumstances described above!

Going forward, I want the editing of posts to only be done as an absolute last resort and only when there’s an obvious intention to troll the site or unprovoked insults are aimed at any of the posters. In other words, only in extreme cases.
I have no idea what Chucky’s post said but it’s irrelevant now. Just be aware that I absolutely don’t want censorship on the site going forward unless in the most extreme circumstances which I don’t think apply to any of the regulars on here.
I really like both Chucky and 999 as posters so I hope to see both posting on here again regardless.
I have to take partial blame myself for not being clearer on what will/won’t be accepted on the site but I hope the above clears up any confusion. Now let’s get back to slagging off Jose and his bus!

Adlab, as others have said, it’s City’s turn at the moment. When you’re at the top, you’re there to be shot at. The media are desperate for a title race as it sells papers. Clearly, a City loss helps make that slightly more realistic (obviously not going to happen). The City fans misinterpret the increased hope of a tighter race for some anti-City agenda, which is just not there.
As good as City have been this season, I think the whole “best-ever” tag assigned to everything related to City this season has been a tad overused. But that’s the Utd fan inside me talking and, just like you do, I see the things I want to see. We all think we’re hard done by from the press mate but it’s rarely, if ever, the case.

Have to agree with Hightown here. There’s been absolutely loads in the media about how much we’re spending on Sanchez. Sanchez’s wage goes up by about £100k every time I read a new article. It’s been done to death though about how much we’re paying for him. Nobody would watch sports channels if they just talked about the fee and wages all day, every day. The media have been pushing this “Pep or money” story for days which really doesn’t fit the whole United love-in you’re suggesting exists in the media Adlab.
As Hightown said, there have been so many stories about whether or not this City side are the best side ever and whether or not Guardiola is the best coach ever in the PL. All this without a single trophy to his name yet since arriving, mind. Hardly the sign of an agenda against City. Pep is much more of a media darling these days than Jose is. I think everyone is quite fed up of Jose now and are sharpening their pencils in preparation for the inevitable breakdown.
There are plenty of Utd pundits on TV but I sometimes wish there weren’t. IMO they’re harsher on us than anyone else. Same goes for the Liverpool pundits. Carragher and Co aren’t afraid to rip into Liverpool.

If ever 2 games of football summed Liverpool up under Klopp (and arguably going back to Rodgers’ time) then you only have to look at their last two games.
Devastating against the top sides at times whilst often falling to defeat when least expected to, after struggling to break down a stubborn defence and conceding through a defensive mistake.
It’s why I wouldn’t put it past them to miss out on top 4 but win the CL! They’re going to cause the big sides all sorts of problems in the CL if they can get past Porto.
