Conte was answering questions on the current situation and the fact that Chelsea couldn’t match Sanchez wage demands and therefore were never in for him. I think Klopp said similar.

We could have a sensible debate about that or we could just score cheap points your choice lads.

Banjo,nobody has denied that Chelsea spent silly money right up until FFP came in but Conte was answering questions on the here and now and why Chelsea weren’t in for Sanchez.

What’s there to debate? The irony of a Chelsea manager complaining about the rising cost of players? I think it’s very ironic, I’m guessing Beni thinks the same…

Don’t think anybody has ever said Chelsea ever broke the rules, they’ve certainly bent them as does every club, and as one of the clubs that caused the introduction of the pointless FFP rules in the first place, I think it’s a bit rich a Chelsea representative complaining about them!

Banjo, you do realise that Conte was answering questions in a press conference as to why Chelsea didn’t move for Sanchez and he answered truthfully that Chelsea couldn’t afford him and only two clubs in the PL could afford him ( interestingly enough that was the consensus view on here too).

Alternatively perhaps he should have said I’m sorry I can’t answer that question because my club long before I joined them and before FFP was introduced spent an awful lot of silly money on transfers!

Just for the sake of accuracy Banjo here’s how Conte answered the questions asked of him in yesterday’s press conference.

I suspect most would see the answers provided by Conte as statement of fact rather than your accusation of “whinging”.

Indeed what Conte said reflects almost precisely much of what has already been said and discussed on here.

“In this moment there are two teams in the League who are at the top and they will stay there, the others have to fight for a place in the CL. These two teams are very strong already and they want to invest. These two big club’s can become seriously dangerous for other teams in the world. ”

On the Sanchez transfer Conte said ” We never were in the race,ever. Only one or two clubs can pay this type of salary. United can do it and they paid it”!
