Easy to take the risk as mid/lower level team as all they’re expected to do is maintain their position in the league.
They can afford the risk on these players as they’re arnt in the glare of the national media daily or have fans demanding to win/compete for the biggest prizes.We’ve witnessed the shit fits some have thrown on here even in the title winning season.

Kane joined the one club he is guaranteed trophies every season and maybe a run at the champions league. Why would he want to join another English club except to obliterate that record of Shearer is beyond me. I respect him for joining Bayern and proving himself. I don’t think he had the option of joining another club in the premier league. Every club would have had to pay a bigger price for him as well.

exactly they would have offered him 500k a week, you have to take these deals for what they are worth, not just the transfer value. The contract matters just as much, then bonuses.
I really don´t get why the lads here are worried, this might be the best window we are gonna see in a long time.
I´ve rarely been as impressed by a CV or a resume by a young lad like Munoz, then I don´t give a flying fuck if we pay 100 million or not for the next target, I know the club can afford multiple deals like that.
With the new manager I am excited and I don´t give a fuck about who comes in or who goes out. We are gonna find some kind of balance this summer and that is all we need.

Nil>> I credit you in finding the formula to be a Liverpool fan and then be able to flick a switch in June that allows you to be so ‘made up….YES!!!’ when the England team win in a major tournament. Over the years I’ve tried to find that formula, but it just won’t come naturally for me and I’ll watch their games and there’s always this yearning with me for them to lose and put an end to the media circus surrounding them. I get so bored in hearing ‘It’s coming home’ and seeing main News items of the type of football fans that I don’t associate myself with throwing pints of expensive lager over each other. In any other sport, I’m an ardent supporter of the England / Brit team or individual, but try as I may, it just doesn’t work for me with football.

I do resonate with what you’re saying. I don’t know how or why, but have found this tournament fun than the previous last 2. It could partly be because of where it’s staged. Lol, it’s that or just be sucked into transfer speculation.
Got a whole month after the tournament finishes to when the new PL season kicks in. I’m definitely looking forward to our pre-season 🙂

Yes Rob, I want both Isak and Wirtz to succeed, all that matters to me is Liverpool winning the biggest trophies as soon as possible, and consistently.
I even posted this today, on the transfer thread, in reply to Sean:
“No problem Sean, all good, let’s hope Iraola can get the best out of both Isak and Wirtz.
And I always believe a player can turn their career around, so all is not lost for both these players. Perhaps a new coach and new players might bring the best out of them.
And if they can deliver us the biggest trophies, as soon as possible, then their prices will be quickly forgotten, and the huge investment justified.”

There is no problem with spending £100m for a player as long as the following conditions apply.
1. They are worth the price and their talent can justify the price. Thus such players usually make an immediate impact, deliver consistently season after season, and are rarely injured e.g. Kane, Mbappé.
2. Their price is in line with that of similarly talented players, and not being exorbitantly exaggerated by the selling club, such as Newcastle. Best example is Isak last summer, all toip strikers/attackers went for £60m – £80m e.g. Ekitike, Gyokeres, Cunha, Gyökeres, Mbuemo, Šeško, Semenyo, Eze.
So what made Isak cost £45m above this range? In my opinion, absolutely nothing, his stats can’t justify it, and even worse he’s more injury-prone than the above players.
If both above conditions don’t apply, then we look elsewhere.

Nil>> Yes, I just need to try harder and shut-out my long-felt prejudices against a.) England fans, b.) England players who I’ve just spent the last 9 months wanting to fail every time they cross the white line for their PL clubs and 3.) the England international set-up schedule in general that keeps messing up the Premier League.
I actually went to the World Cup in Brazil and really enjoyed the overall experience of travelling around a really interesting country and watching games and interacting with fans from lots of other countries. Yes, did the obligatory Brazil game on big screens on Copa Cobana beach !
But my most abiding memory was taking up our seats in Sao Paulo for the England v Uruguay game. The stand was a good mixture of fans from both teams and the Uruguay fans were really great. There were a couple of knuckle-draggers from Croydon sat next to us and then a row of Uruguay fans the other side of them. They asked us whether we would swap seats with them as “we don’t want to sit next to Uruguayans”. My initial reaction was yes, but then I thought “no, you racist, intolerant twats – stay where you are and suffer for 90 minutes!”. It was that type of England fans that I can’t associate with and subsequently, the Suarez-double to knock England out in the group stage gave me a bit of an inner glow.

Plus all these figures are absolutely meaningless for us fans, whether a player costs 60 million or 100 million, it has no effect on your life what so ever. It does not even have an effect on the club as the club can afford it. You talk a lot about saving money for what purpose if you are not gonna spend the money, you want the club to cut down on spending, go for lesser targets than our number one targets to save money. Cause this is not about football, for some reason you do not think the club has money to spend.

First Paragraph I completely get. Lol there is already discussion broken about ahead of the game early hours Monday in workers wanting time off/day off, and whether Pubs should extend their hours. I’m sure it’s something doable and some are going to have to bite the bullet and get to work if they can’t get the time off.
Oh gosh, tell me about it!! All the other histrionics!! One thing standing out is Tuchel taking no-nonsense with all all the other interference and won’t by shy to get stuck into the players to tell them off. Some of those players late on started to really show it.
Mexico will be a tough nut for us and it’s whether we’re able to find something from somewhere.
