Thought I’d start an independent thread on anything and everything World Cup.
I’ll start!

Netherlands: Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, and Ryan Gravenberch
Japan: Wataru Endo
Argentina: Alexis Mac Allister
France: Ibrahima Konaté
Czech Republic: Vítězslav JarošNo Liverpool players in the England squad for the first time in 40 years.

27th May 2026 at 9:03 pm #247180Frimpong missed out, bit of a bummer for him given how highly rated he was at Leverkusen. Hasnt played enough apparently, which is odd for a team that doesnt play his wing back position!
Germany: Wirtz

28th May 2026 at 11:03 am #247212Good Template to identify who’s representing where so we can keep track of them on performance haha 🙂
Trent’s not going. Poor guy.
Probably see a different and a more confident and an assertive Florian Wirtz.
I suppose the thing for me after such a miserable season is the guys to go out there and be the best version of themselves in representing their country. What ever will be will be and we have to prepare ourselves in case of any injuries; prayers though of course, that doesn’t happen.
Got my eyes of Jaros and hoping for a recall and competition for Marma for the not too distant future of Number 1 spot.

28th May 2026 at 11:25 am #247218So apart from our two most expensive signings ever, plus two bona-fide legends that are saying good bye, and possibly our best ever goalie were all missing, it wasn’t a bad list really.
Like you Nil I’m interested to see if and how Jaros plays. I don’t think Marma is the answer and even read he may be off but not seen much of Jaros yet to form an opinion.
Usually I’d boycott a world cup if played in a dictorial, authoritian country with questionable human rights and freedom of the press but as Mexico and Canada are also hosting I will watch some of the games that have decent times for us Europeans.
Unlike the Euros you do get a lot of not very attractive games early on.

28th May 2026 at 5:59 pm #2472723ps, I’m kinda about the same. It would be nice to see the places and different venues. Lol 9pm kick offs UK time should just about be ok 🙂 Hard to sleep of late with these soaring temperatures.
And naturally, it should be more interesting during the knock-out stages.
I’m be more excited if we had new Management though because you can then be more fanatical and excited about potential new targets that catch your eye during the tournament.

28th May 2026 at 6:21 pm #2472739pm uk time is 10pm here and during the week I get up 05:00 for work so no chance.
Agree Sean the standout stars don’t seem as standout as 10 or 20 years ago. Yamal maybe? Some of the French lads?
Think Gramce will win it they have such depth of quality. Spain will push them however.

28th May 2026 at 6:23 pm #247274both attorney generals of both New Jersey and New York have sued FIFA for pricing the tickets out of this world.

I can see real trouble in USA at every stadium but the games in Mexico should be awesome, I would just tune in for those games and skip the USA ones. I can´t see a atmosphere in the USA and I doubt it will be that good in Canada.

28th May 2026 at 6:35 pm #247277As far as England go, the best tournaments were 1990 and 1996. They tend to start off slow and their progression is gradual. I don’t see myself getting too excited. Apart from Kane and Henderson, I’m not that bothered about the rest.
Always had a soft spot for Argentina from back in the day.
