Sean – sadly I think you are probably right. Not so sure on Isak, I think if he can stay fit he has a knack of being in the right place at the right time but let’s see…

29th May 2026 at 1:03 pm #247350Ye mac but problem is we create fuck all
Look at chances nunez used to get and miss? Imagine isak getting that supply but last season we were dreadful going forward. Isak got hardly any touches nevermind chances in games mate

29th May 2026 at 1:49 pm #247355Sean I tried telling the forum that Nunez was underrated here, that despite how many chances he missed he always got another chance by sheer team work. With all the workrate we had last season we had a xG created of 2.1 per game and xG conceded 1.1, this season without the workrate we drop to 1.6 created and 1.4 conceded.

29th May 2026 at 2:28 pm #247358Bingo you’re comparing Nunez under Klopp to Isak under Slot. Nunez, and also Diaz, would have had disastrous seasons with the slow build up.

29th May 2026 at 2:41 pm #247359IΒ΄m not comparing Nunez and Isak, I was saying that basically half the chances we got last season were because of workrate.
I remembered a long rant of mine about Nunez from last season when everyone was on his back, because of how many chances he needed to score and I was trying to tell you guys that there is hardly a striker in the world that can get that many chances.
His special ability was to get 10 chances a game. Now we are stuck with Gakpo walking around and get one chance a game.
3ps I donΒ΄t think we would be this slow if we had kept Nunez or Diaz, they are so energetic that they never stop pressing no matter what. I think the worst footballing decision the club has made in 30 years is selling Diaz just as he was about to enter into his prime. It was even a worse decision than that after Jota died.
Losing three forwards from a title winning squad in unheard of. Name me the last side that lost three forwards from a title winning squad. City have never done that, Chelsea have never done that, Arsenal have never done that, United have never done that, Leicester did not even do that.
Dortmund might have been forced into that situation once or twice by Bayern, IΒ΄m not sure about it. Bayern have never done that, Milan have never done that, Inter have never done that, PSG have never done that, same goes for the Spanish clubs. We even sold a 4th forward in Elliott.

29th May 2026 at 2:55 pm #247361Threeps, maybe Nunez would’ve had 500 less off sides with our pedestrian approach?

29th May 2026 at 3:50 pm #247364Maybe Rob, but he’d still have missed the few chances he’d get. We can only speculate but I certainly don’t think Nunez and Diaz would defy the coaches instructions and still play with high energy.
Still too much finger pointing at individual players. Judge them in a better system.
If we get one. If we don’t then more of the same no matter who joins.

Completely agree.
Or with better tactics.

30th May 2026 at 12:33 pm #247409Wow. Bit surprising given recent talk. Iraola will no doubt be cutting short his Leverkusen talks.

30th May 2026 at 12:38 pm #247410Or Enrique fancies a crack after today’s game?
But I think Iraola is favorite.

30th May 2026 at 12:41 pm #247411Welcome to the new Liverpool manager, whoever that is.
He’ll still have to deal with Hughes’ disastrous signings from last summer though which left the attack unbalanced.
Or he’ll bring in his own players.

30th May 2026 at 12:44 pm #247412How Richard Hughes is still in a job after Liverpool’s worst transfer window ever is beyond me.
He spent the highest amount ever by a PL club in a transfer w8ndow, Β£452m, with little to show for it, with only Ekitike being a real success for the money.
Spending Β£125m on Isak, alone, is a sackable offence.
I’m certain he’s been warned NOT to fuck it up again this summer.
