Maverick, I like Rodgers but it would be daft swapping him for Cunha at this point in time, especially when other areas need strengthening as a priority.
Also, I heard that one of the reasons England didn’t take Lewis-Hall was because they weren’t convinced of his defending one v one against high quality pacy wingers such as Lamel etc.

6th June 2026 at 8:25 am #248159@Diggy Hall did lock up Yamal in the first leg of their meeting in the Champs league but in his defence there are only other 2Left backs in the world who have successfully locked up Yamal in a game of football. Also except Nico O’riley who is still much untested the other options selected at LB for England won’t do much better against pacy quality wingers.
But 70M for Hall?? That’s way above taking the piss instead go give Bournemouth 30M for Truffert or Diouf from WestHam and call it a day.

6th June 2026 at 8:44 am #248163Difference between the scousers opting for Iraola and us for Carrick Diggy, is that Iraola has demonstrated a degree of success with Bournemouth whereas Carrick was sacked by Middlesbrough after three less than successful seasons.

6th June 2026 at 8:55 am #248164Maverick – Cunha isn’t world class but we have bigger issues and players who require replacing over him. I would actually have Gibbs White if we wanted a left sides player, what he has over Cunha and Rodgers is his defensive work. He is up and down and generally works his balls off.

6th June 2026 at 9:02 am #248165Did Carrick not demonstrate a degree of success for us last season, JM?
Also when you see the likes of Elanga going for £50m last summer i’m not sure we really did “overpay” for Cunha and Mbeumo. Certainly not after the usual “United tax” we have to pay. Wissa as well has been shocking. And if we overpaid for those 2 i guess Liverpool were actually defrauded with Isak and Wirtz?!_____________________________

6th June 2026 at 9:44 am #248166There you go happy as usual, trying to say that massive overpricing of Elanga and Wirtz is worse than United’s overpaying for Mbeumo and Cunha. Yes of course, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t overpay, just that they fucked up more than us. But if you don’t think we overpaid, fine, just don’t keep making stupid fucking comparisons like you always do. To listen to you, people would think we were the best run club in the world, but short memories for some. Under INEOS, we bought Ashworth out of his contract at Newcastle, he then swiftly committed to 50 million for Ugarte, then we sacked the useless cunt and paid him compensation. And what will we get for Ugarte mate? 20? 25? That’s if we ever get rid because the guy’s on 120k a week.

6th June 2026 at 10:14 am #248167Oh @Happy you just couldn’t resist another day of talking out ya arse mate.. there’s a reason NewCastle are clearing house this summer and also Yes we did over pay for both of them but it is what it is.
On the subject of Ugarte i read Coventry want both him and Mount. If the club has any sense give them both away for a combined 70M deal and then watch Mount go a whole season without getting injured 🤣🤣🤣
The same fucking AshWorth who wanted SouthGate for us no matter what.. 50M for a castaway Ugarte was the dumbest business ever.

6th June 2026 at 10:16 am #248169Diggy-We are simply exchanging opinions, nothing more, because we don’t decide anything as fans.Just analysing certain players.
MUFC-we all know it won’t happen, therefore just a wishful thinking on our part.Anyway,Rodgers will probably join Arsenal._____________________________

6th June 2026 at 10:53 am #248173Lots of talks about our left wing both in attack and in defence. As Dee said, what about our right flank both in attack and defence? No proper winger or right back what so ever. Olise was the one that got away.

6th June 2026 at 11:02 am #248174Jm, the truth is I can’t get excited by any manager we appoint. Think even if we’d signed Enrique, somewhere in the back of my mind. I’d be thinking it’ll probably fuck up lol.

6th June 2026 at 11:48 am #248176Jm – of course you have to compare the values with what other clubs have paid. That’s what gives the context and the perspective. And then you look at their performances across the season and compare them with the players who went for similar values or in Liverpool’s case double the cost!
You also might need to update player values in your mind because you don’t get anything for less than £50m these days with the requisite experience we need. Which is why Ederson is cheap.
Newcastle want £100m for Tonali and they’ll probably get it. Anderson will go for around £110m._____________________________

6th June 2026 at 12:35 pm #248179@happy – It’s what you’ve always done, compare other clubs failed, shit buys with ours so as to somehow convince yourself that we’ve not been ripped off!🙄 How about comparing Morgan Rogers at just 8 million quid, or Rayan Cherki at 30 million quid, and benchmark them against some of ours for a change!😂😂

6th June 2026 at 1:16 pm #248182The price tag doesn’t matter, its the return on the investment. Declan Rice at £100m+ was money well spent.

6th June 2026 at 2:30 pm #248188Rice is a very good player but 100 plus for him, Anderson, Caicedo and Enzo is too much in my opinion. These guys are basically holding/box to box midfielders who put a lot of work in. At least Enzo scores a few. The top clubs have too much money, are prepared to pay massively inflated prices for what are perceived to be top players, which pushes all the prices up and you get West Ham asking 80 mill for a young lad who’s only been around for a couple of seasons. It’s fucking ludicrous and the fact that we regard the likes of Rice as great players tells you everything you need to know. I shudder to think what some of the truly great players of the past would be worth now.

6th June 2026 at 4:57 pm #248196Blacky – So a player signed from the championship 2 years ago is a better comparison than someone signed from the premier league in the same window?
I’ll give you Cherki he seems to be providing good value for money even if he is a silly little showboating twat._____________________________

6th June 2026 at 5:54 pm #248198The topic under discussion was whether or not we have overpaid for some of our recent signings, and you did what you always do by trotting out the names of some shite players that were signed by other clubs as if to suggest it’s all okay after all.
I said all along that Mbuemo for example was a very questionable signing and that he was being grossly overly priced on the basis of just one very good season when the guy was already in his mid 20’s, and irrespective of how bad Elanga and Wissa have been (which I highlighted the other day) it still doesn’t detract from my view that Brentford have had our pants down on that deal._____________________________
