Scott will probably follow Iraola to Liverpool along with a couple of others.

5th June 2026 at 1:11 pm #248112Hard to not be worried by how good Iraola could be at Liverpool. Hate the idea of it all going to shit under Carrick by Christmas and then us fumbling around trying to find a decent manager.
So i’m not going to think like that!!

5th June 2026 at 1:32 pm #248115Just seen Don Hutchison on ESPN saying what an absolutely brilliant player Ederson is and what a bargain United have got. That’s praise indeed coming from an ex player and dyed in the wool Liverpool fan.

5th June 2026 at 1:37 pm #248116But agree about Iraola. I read that Liverpool’s decision was based solely on getting a manager that can get the players playing high pressing, high intensity, attractive football. We, on the other hand, have opted for someone who the Board saw as popular with the fans, non controversial and easily controllable. The easy pick I’m afraid. Hope it works out but we’ve been this route before and it usually doesn’t.

5th June 2026 at 1:53 pm #248117If we had any brains,we forget Ndiaye,offer money+ any player Villa wants,and go for Rodgers.Amazing player!.

5th June 2026 at 2:10 pm #248118Rodgers is a great player, but after seeing so many top tier players fail at the club, I no longer believe that any player is worth crazy money… much prefer if we went for a number of 20-35m players hoping that 1 or 2 of them stick rather than spend 100m on a “world class” player.
With that said, going for players in the Cunha / Mbeumo / Sesko levels for 50m might be acceptable given todays prices… speaking about the likes of Ndiaye, Scott, etc.

5th June 2026 at 2:55 pm #248121Arsenal need a proper, pacy as fuck, out and out winger on the left, which Rodgers isn’t really. They could put him in the middle and use him to replace Odegaard who’s a very good player but they won’t win a Champions League with him in the 10 position

5th June 2026 at 5:12 pm #248126I think we have to stop handing out the brilliant, amazing type superlatives. Rodgers is a good player, above average, but not brilliant or amazing. We’ve actually arrived at a point where average players are in the 80 mill bracket. The game’s gone fucking mad. I mean 100 plus for Anderson? Absolute fucking nonsense. I can’t even think of who I actually want us to sign. I know who I like and don’t like but I’m not sure who we should be bringing in.

5th June 2026 at 5:37 pm #248127jm1501-you are spot on but, considering how much we paid for the likes of Arry,Case,Anthony,Sancho,Mbeumo,Cunha,Ugarte,de Ligt,Martinez etc, paying £80m for Rodgers is a normal sum these days! Imho he is a class above everyone else in the PL!
Not to mention players from other teams.i.e Mudryk,Nunez,Gyokeres,Wirtz,Isak,Pepe,Ekitike,Doku,Grealish,etc._____________________________

5th June 2026 at 6:13 pm #248130Oh we massively overpaid in the past maverick but it’s got to stop mate. Let the new ‘big’ clubs blow their money on these overrated fuckers. We need to do something different, otherwise it’s just everyone bidding for the same couple of dozen players mate. The players we’re being linked with this summer don’t make me feel even remotely positive.

5th June 2026 at 9:25 pm #248138Absolute madness was Brighton rejecting 70M for Baleba last season, Forest asking for 150M for Anderson, WestHam valuing Fernandez at over 80M.
Clubs need to pause hit the reset button and stop paying such high amounts for above average players. Also we don’t need Rogers as he is similar to Cunha and both ended the league season with 10goals each and both are capable of the occasional worldies.

6th June 2026 at 6:08 am #248149@Happy a glass or two of Madeira does help out as you know; you numpty 🤪🤣🤣🤣.
@Maverick i get the appeal for Rogers but both are similar players in my opinion and both are played out of position on the left. Cunha can do much more for us and he did have an okay season for us. So spunking out over 100M for Rogers just doesn’t make sense when we can use it to improve other areas of the team.
The ones we need to worry about is Mbeumo and Amad; they both need to be shown and made to study video tapes of Messi, Robben, Salah, even Yamal because of how they operate on that right side and how they easily place their shots every time as opposed to just blasting the ball and hoping it goes in.

6th June 2026 at 6:14 am #248151Yep, we should have bought Rogers instead of Cunha, but at least Cunha has looked dangerous for us, it’s Mbeumo who’s turned out to be a damp squib. But whichever way you look at it, we paid over the odds for both Cunha and Mbeumo.

6th June 2026 at 7:45 am #248156Jm, regarding Liverpool’s appointment of Iraola. I was listening to a Liverpool journalist and supporter on TalkSPORT yesterday afternoon. His take was that was the appointment is one trying to please the fans. This high pressing front footed heavy metal football. Therefore you could say they’re no difference to us. His argument was that Iraola has a completely different personality to Klopp and that is what Liverpool fans loved about him. He got the club. Iraola may prove very successful he might not. Like most managerial appointments there’s always risk. The only difference is if someone like Enqirue comes in the players have his full respect straight away
