I think based on that calculation Ed, the 100m isn’t the actual registered transaction, but it’s whatever the agreed instalment is. Obviously, the lower the better in spite of it taking longer to complete the down-payments (the club stays within financial fair play).
I actually heard off a colleague from Liverpool (whether this was just a tongue-in-cheek comment) that Mascherano fee had only just been paid off which is hard to believe given the time he was purchased and the fee of 24 mil (if I’m right in saying so).
As a side, I’m led to believe also this perhaps was ‘the’ reason why the Coutinho deal didn’t go through because of what Liverpool were demanding.

Didn’t want to start a separate thread for this, but what a winner from Ben Woodburn. And at least to with the Welsh they just continue to sing the anthem and get behind the players. Austria by no means was easy and it took some going to eventually break them down.

I sincerely hope so Hightown. Firstly, it’s refreshing to see a British player sign from a now Championship club. I hope he is allowed to establish himself and own the left-back position.

Morning Ed, don’t know if this has been noticed already, been when trying to vote up against a poster’s comment, the vote actually drops off and is awarded to the poster underneath???

That’s the irony of it all Ed: we’re actually achieving positive results in spite of these type of displays hahaha 😀

I think it’s fair to say in pattern from a number of games (and we’re not talking merely a dozen), it’s at least 50-60 minutes of painful watch before there’s remote light at the end of the tunnel (so to speak).
Fully in agreement with every comment posted because it’s a reflection in the turn of events and where we are.
Contingencies needed hahaha, Twister, if anybody energetic and daring or somebody dull like me settling for Connect 4 Cookies 😀

Still envisage Coutinho being a Barca player – maybe something tonight on the 11th hour, who knows.
And should he remain with us, wow: what would that say about our attack?
We have an abundance of quality. We have to be ultra honest though with ourselves as far as the defence goes and albeit one or 2 additions, it’s no different above all to when Brendan Rodgers had left it.

I don’t think this particular window would drastically be any different (to previous others), but any large amounts invested on a player naturally breeds high expectations – particularly if he’s brought in to address a specific playing area.
In light of Ox if it all comes to fruition, I am excited and at the same time intrigued as to who will play where and what will be ‘the best fit of players’ leading the starting 11.
Clearly competition is generated out of this which can be healthy keeping those selected on the pitch on their toes.
If new players don’t immediately adjust and hit the ground running, then the spotlight subsequently follows in an environment that is results driven, though when there’s a real array of talented players of which some already established, I don’t think from my point of view they’d be a hell of a lot of pressure for Ox to set the world alight.
Lightheartedly, I am still awaiting Van Dijk – it’s like enjoying a lovely starter, and main course, but left without the desert, lol 😀
No time for St Jim White’s Transfer Deadline Day tomorrow. Maybe though on the 11th hour, the ‘Christmas stocking’ is filled: with VVD! Hahaha 😀

Summary for me as we near closure of this particular window is the floodgates have been wide open, and from the influx of Television money, there is less of a gulf in the PL between the so-called top and bottom clubs.
There is more of a level playing field and a domino effect, for example:
Everton’s 45m purchase on Sigurdsson allows Swansea some freedom. Some clubs too can afford to play a bit of ransom or don’t necessarily have to sell unless their hand is forced with a tempting offer.

Chucky @ 12:19, I’m in the same position as you there. The reason for that from my end is just levels of interest and finding the time, though I do take an interest in the lower English leagues.
Just touching on that point made earlier, I think we are fortunate to have Jurgen Klopp as I felt with Brendan Rodgers, he was a little out of his depth in that area and felt with Kenny Dalglish being out of the game for a long time before his return to Liverpool was a little outdated in the scouting and probably have Comolli more to thank for.

The question of “who do we get” is a very valid. It makes me appreciate our Manager in seemingly aware of teams in Europe along with Bundeliga experience. Andy Robertson from Hull was a rare type of switch as in the modern day as far as English clubs from the lower leagues go, the players don’t appear to be deemed as good enough. Continental players always seem likely, but in our case, we’ve not always been able to get hold of finished articles.
The more diversed you are in your selections and ability to scout, the more options you leave yourself with in a highly competitive market (as far as clubs from the top flight go).

Latest reports as it stands is that we have a spending spree of around 170 mill.
Phillipe by Friday will be a Barcelona player and now, Liverpool it has been reported will match any bid of Chelsea’s to land the Ox if he himself wants to the move. If we can’t get him it’ll be Lemar, and as mentioned earlier, Van Dijk is doing everything he can to force his move through.
I don’t know why we’re playing ‘hardball’ with Palace as we should accept Palace’s bid of £25. It’ll certainly feel like loose change against the stakes we’re already reportedly in luxury of.

It would be nice in general if we can bring at least one more new face (ideally Van Dijk).
We look as a squad a lot more bulkier and have more than one option albeit in suspect, the defensive side.
I know Klopp generally likes to field an unchanged line up week in week out when it comes to the Prem, but the idea of bringing players off a little early when we are in a comfortable winning position means individuals avoid the risk of injury and heavy tiredness.
November and December I feel would be key hurdles of the season to contend with as far as progress in both PL and CL go, plus the EFL Cup competition in between.

There is stuff written out there be it through paper talk or the net itself that Van Dijk’s sole preference is Liverpool. This is why it was reported yesterday he was changing football agents.
I’m surprised Kieta has already been sealed before Van Dijk.
I think Saints should take the money whilst the going is good from a financial point of view. It becomes a slightly different kettle of fish if a player’s head and heart has been turned elsewhere and there’s no going back which is what I see with Coutinho and based on that, you’d probably accept your player is on his way out one way or another.

Maverick 1973, I believe more than ever we have more power and freedom to compete in the transfer market.
The fees have spiralled from the scale we’ve already adjusted ourselves to but there seems to be more money than ever and should we get hold of these two signings and strengthen a year after that with Kieta, we’d be more on par to compete properly on the pitch against the big boys.
I’m just pleased we’ve come this far considering many years ago, some crazy rumour started about us guys signing Zidane!

Compared to Watford, Wyjnaldum had a much more of a productive game as he was more active and going out of his way more to dribble and turn defence into attack.
Putting this into some form of context, his purchase price was a quite a high whack in relation to the fees and valuations of summer 2016 and one of Jurgen Klopp’s first real buys.
For the player he was at Newcastle, I had high expectations and although he popped up to score vital goals, what I didn’t find as such was for him to be more industrious and try and win either first or second balls.
That essentially should apply to the rest of the midfield positioned in front of the back 4 in a more defensive area. We have the luxury now of Milner to play central, so these guys should be comfortable taking ownership in deep playing areas.

In principle, yes, all players should be given a chance to improve and turn around their fortunes.
Collectively however when placed in a defensive unit along with Mignolet, Lovren, Klavan, and Clyne (in example), it’s never going to be lasting and we’d likely to fall short.
As far as Moreno is concerned in my view, at best he would be a squad player, but not really seen as a prominent figure.

Big Jim, I’m no stranger to any form of setbacks not to mention realism. Liverpool can quite easily lose that match against a quality Man City side. Always had a lot of respect for you guys since Pellegrini and the 2014 Title Race.
Been a little naughty poking fun at Pep, I do that with my own Manager and the Huddersfield Manager too hahaha 😀 🙂

It’s refreshing to see Liverpool in a more comfortable position and ambitious to be able to compete in what essentially is a transfer market frenzy.
Looks like this is the Neymar effect hahaha 😀 🙂
