The old ‘Littlewoods Cup’ as formerly known held more prestige. More silverware means scope and hope for those teams realistically unable to challenge and win the Title.

The inception of the Champions League, money, and being able to qualify finishing 4th changed the attitudes.

Parallel to that, Leicester showed they’re more interested in Prem status than to field a strong team when in the Semi Final of the EFL Cup.

This is what I like about Pep and Jose because they strive to try and win EVERY trophy.

Each to their own, but I prefer it if there wasn’t a Gulf. There’s less regard (at least that’s how it comes across) on Championship Clubs and there’s a snobbery element to it too so I hope the gap is bridged some time in the future.

Maybe I’m naΓ―ve in trying to perceive some kind of goodness in this, but maybe there’s a small underlying intent whoever the investor is to want to be successful purely from a sporting point of view.

            Even Mike Ashley.

With a lot of wealthy investors, the likelihood is that they have more than one finger in a pie.

If the right level of attention, support and financial backing isn’t there, then this will reflect the club both on and off the pitch and supporters will smell it a mile off so the heart wont be there as such in wanting to attend.

I’d go for maybe some form of a restructure with our current Premier League and the Championship instead of paying any attention to teams in Europe.

Maybe think of something that binds the 2 together. There are lots of different clubs from a number of different geographical areas and it would breed more closeness than the Premier League perceived to be on it’s own pedestal.

Found this as the most recent of reports – not to much an article, but from last November ala Sky Sports. This showing European League Associations opposing to it.

I know money talks, but I wonder before anything was agreed whether there would be some kind of a ‘people’s vote’

Looking forward to the games this weekend.

Another toughie out there for us and with Trent out, wonder who will fill in.

Looking forward to the London derby at Teatime on Saturday – some points definitely to be dropped.

United look good for another straight victory and could narrow the gap against both Arsenal and Chelsea which will make the table look interesting.

Claude Puel meanwhile for the lunchtime game tomorrow I feel will be feeling a little bit of pressure to try and claim all 3 points at Molineux, but the way Wolves have been performing of late, they themselves could be in for a comfortable afternoon.

Hoping Leeds can march on in the Championship but face a tough trip on the road to Stoke, so hopefully, they can protect their lead and hope both Norwich and Sheffield United drop points.

                    Pagan, Good Evening My Friend.

I’m in agreement. If you read into my sentiments from the ‘Super League’ thread, I would gladly have Liverpool removed if I had the choice in playing Sheffield Wednesday, and Leeds United than those current 5 sitting at the top.

His behaviour Alfie overall mate or how he comes across at the very least.

I purely get Ince being hated by United fans for him moving to Liverpool.

Owen for me just grew out of modesty and seemingly forgetting where he started and how he took off.

When I think about all the failures in recent years from Cup Finals and missing out on the League, it’s quite soul destroying and I understand why some fans just won’t get too carried away.

I believe Klopp is the one for us to stick it out, and do everything he can to change our misfortunes. We’ll just have to take it game by game mate.

I think to some degree, a lot of this aimed at Man City is conjecture and only based on the evidence of Monday Night. Maybe somebody who’s a regular Match-goer may be able to give an insight, or some form of research.

Mind boggling though and I’d understand if it was a Team struggling for wins or consistency and playing negative/dull football.

As far as attendance goes, there is a correlation with the affiliation of the community, pricing and the direction of where the club is moving along with progression.

I know at the moment with Leicester City, attendances have dipped to the point of tickets for games being available on General Sale. This is because fans are starting to tire of Claude Peul’s Brand of Football and his Team Selections.

Many feel with the current squad, they are underachieving. That affects the mood and spirit and even in the South Stand where most of the noise comes from, fans just don’t have it in them to be able to muster 90 minutes in generating an atmosphere.

Mak, you’re absolutely right about Gomez mate in how far he has come through.

Admittedly, I made a mistake in my post by completely forgetting about him (doh!), purely because I’ve not seen him in the first 11 for quite some time and Lovren just propped up in my head (silly me).

I would say though, it shows, we could do with somebody as a reinforcement and somebody solid who knows what they are doing and are reliable.

It just shows too looking at Klopp’s reign at the helm comparing to Man City, they were already streets ahead and we were in the rebuilding process.

In his first full season too in 2016-17, if you remember during the first half of that season, we were actually challenging at the top with Chelsea, but the lack of depth in our squad weakened us, and we had a unlucky January as a result.

Last season we were close to finishing second and City were just emphatic in a league of their own.

We’ve proved under Klopp we’re more than capable of going beyond 4th place and this is probably why he was backed by FSG. If we capture the right reinforcements in the summer, I can only see us going from strength to strength and sooner or later, we’ll start winning trophies again.

Comparisons to City in general, they have the strongest in depth and that covers every playing position albeit GK (maybe).

For example, no Benjamin Mendy, but they have Vincent Kompany.

If we lose Van Dijk, we have to make do with Lovren.

If we think about this although Managers have changed, players like Kompany, Aguero, and Silva have lots of years of experience behind them and of course quality and have remained with the club.

Liverpool I feel are not quite the finished article as far as the squad goes and if we are to improve, then to compliment Van Dijk, we’d be needing this summer another centre-half. There is also room for a Top Class Striker.

As far as ideology and logic go for a Team trying to compete at the highest level in all 4 playing competitions, the quality in depth of the squad is your answer.

By no means I’d want to be a damp squib, but I have noticed on observation of body language, those individuals who are not selected in the starting 11 or don’t feature as frequent showing their dissatisfaction, impatience and boredom. Mahrez being one of them last night.

Now whether or not if this is the case whether they are accepting and will endeavour to pull together, or whether it reaches a point of them showing their frustration, I don’t know. If this rubs off on to more than one player, this is where the Manager finds himself with the challenge in trying to reassure people or just be straight with them.

I liked the Chelsea team a lot in 04/05, especially Cech. He was what is now Allison to me now for the Reds.

It was a very fortunate turn of events on what happened with Stephen Hunt back in 2006 ala Reading that forced Cech to have to play in head-gear, but this guy soldiered on and even tried his best for the Gunners.

A testament to his playing position and will be missed.

I think it’s a small handful of clubs that occupy the Prem that give that impression of the fan being completely priced out. Given that, my brother went to the Leicester-Man City game on Boxing Day at the King Power and I think he paid around Β£40.

I’ve never ever ever subscribed to the idealogy of a new stadium – why? You only end up having to try and recoup that ‘investment’ and end up charging the fans more.

There’s a few reasonings to factor in like price of tickets, and the amount of competitions City are involved in, so maybe one isn’t able to afford to attend a handful of games in quick succession.

Picking on the point of Price though, it reflects on when New Stadiums are created and then on setting a vision to compete with the best, meaning best players that come along with high value transfer fees and wages – that’s a double-edge sword for the Match-goer.

And when the club sets out to generate as much revenue in ticket sales, you find a portion of them advertised through different mediums and variable prices, in Hundreds.

What is mind-boggling is why this would happen irrespective of the above? It’s not as if the football’s boring and they’re still tipped I’m sure by many to retain the title.
