Actually, 38 divided by 0 is zero, so that team would be the worst team in the league and therefore should be relegated… 🙂

Brian, it’s true that people have spoken of City “having a weak defence” but this is a discussion in relative terms. With Laporte out, it is a more valid one too, as he’s dispelled an awful lot of the talk. I’m not too worried for City’s defence though. if you lads have to make a tough decision, you can put Fernandinho there for a game or 2, you won’t starve.

Get a new calculator banjo 🙂 If it was a scientific calculator it should say error when dividing anything my 0. Even the calculator on by mobile says can not divide by 0 when I tried to do it just now to see if it gave me 0 also.
Dont need a calculator to understand it though banjo, just go to your kitchen, get an apple, and try dividing it into zero parts 🙂

You don’t though because this 38 wins by 1-0 is only possible by 1 team and in this scenario goals don’t matter. If you want to throw in some 0-0 draws then ok, it’s possible but if something like this were ever to happen then you’d have bigger problems than what to do about the goals.
It’s almost a mathematical certainty that this “flaw” would never see the light of day. It’s simply resolved by adding 1 to goals conceded though. This really isn’t worthy of discussion though TBH. The goal average system on the whole does seem to be a good system.

Exactly Mak, and the only reason such a record would lead to an absurd average of 38 is because the record itself is absurd.

We use to have goal average, we’ve now got goal difference, and we’re now talking about goal ratio.
If you want all out exciting attacking football then goal average is the way to go as a 5-4 victory is better for the winning team than a 4-0 victory.
