I’m not even sure anymore whether or not Jose is evil enough to manage this lot. Sure, he’s annoying, but he’s quite harmless compared to a lot of these. Would Big Ron Atkinson be worth a shout? Surely, his comments on Desailly are worse than anything Jose has ever done?

Hightown – the Big Ron thing was a shocker, but I was really in two minds about it as I always believe actions are more an indication of a person rather than words. He was one of the pioneers of black players in top flight teams with those teams he had at the likes of WBA and Aston Villa etc. He’s of a similar generation to my father who would say things that were out of keeping with their actions and real personality – although I don’t recall my father ever using the N word, but a few others instead. shame really as I liked Big Ron

Well Beni, footballers don’t get great press most of the time. So It’s nice when they do do some good things. Bellamy is a prime example. Not many fans of other clubs warmed to the guy on a football pitch. But he kept his charity work quite quiet initially and came across as a quite a humble person in the interview I saw him in. Agree about big Ron. My Dad is very similar although he has moved with the times and he certainly isn’t racist and like you I have never heard him say the N word. So big Ron was bang out of order in that respect. But he has never been given another chance which is a shame. Completely ostracised.
