Mak…I am sure Liverpool will come to an agreement with Salah, if he moves on then it will have ben pre planned but I think he will stay since he knows he is in a good squad and good manager, but you never know these days

A common denominator for us yesterday was that all 3 goals were conceded from very close range and through the hustle and bustle and essentially gobbledegook defending from us.
The first goal looked like we were trying the high line. Fair play to Brentford though. They never lost their appetite at all right from the first whistle.
We need to be more disciplined and be prepared to get our bodies in first.

There will be a lot from that game for Klopp to work on with the lads. That’s the positive thing from it.
I don’t share people’s concerns regards the high line. Yes, it can cost us goals but it also gives us goals and affords our style of play. The problems can come with the turf, however I still think we should have done a lot better and that the high line conversation need not be invoked at all.
I was surprised that we defended so poorly, given how it was potentially our strongest back 5. Of course, Konate may eventually be the partner for VVD, or even Gomez but a fit Matip and VVD partnership is as solid as the PL gets.
Of course, it goes way beyond who your CB partnership is, but you’d admit that the solidity that a good pair offers, can resonate through-out the defence. Fabinho was asleep for one of the goals and others weren’t faultless either but…
I’m not terribly unhappy about it, however we face City next where we can not play like that or they’ll put 6 past us. I’m not exaggerating. I expect that we’ll sharpen up but didnt they hammer us last season in one of the games? We’ll have to be at our best to beat City, that’s for sure.

I still think that we have a very good chance at winning the PL. Sean, there are concerns on that defence for sure but you know that if we dont get injuries back there, it’ll get sorted some time soon.
The midfield is my main concern. I actually think we’re ok up top, with Origi and Minamino offering reasonable cover for small spells. both looked decent in the LC. Jota has been poor in my opinion but he actually came into the game more, when Firmino came on. I think we’ll see a big season from Firmino. I just have a feeling that he’s going to be back to his best. That last injuury really didnt help things but he’s fit again.

Time will tell if it’s a one off game defensively mak. I just think we concede to many chances in the last two games.

It’s only one game. It’s funny that a draw in the pl now for the top teams is deemed a bad result as if you want to win the pl, you can’t be dropping any points in games you are expected to win
What another fabulous weekend of football though. Great atmospheres and some really brilliant games with loads of drama and goals

Ya, not just 1 but 2 games for sure, maybe more. It’s hard tos ee us improving enough defensively, to beat City but you never know. I think it’ll be soon enough though all the same. VVD needs time and the others will improve as he does. He definitely needs a rest against Porto though. Bring Konate and Gomez in.

I just think Brentford targeted our weakness at the back by throwing a couple of bodies up there. What’s disappointing is that Klopp didn’t seem to react to it and correct it.

Sometimes reacting means you are throwing your game-plan out the window. Maybe it was up to the players to do better, without really changing anything.
Anyway, looking forward to tonight. If we can manage a win, that gives us a great chance of qualifying from the group. We’ll get team news in 10 mins or so. I’m hoping to see some players rested, VVD, Robertson, with Firmino given at least 30 mins. Should we consider giving Salah a little rest tonight? I guess the medical staff will have something to say there. Need him sharp for City but, he just seems to be on fire this season. You don’t want to rest someone unnecessarily, when they are on the form of their lives.

Best thing about this season is, I am really enjoying watching us play again. Some really good attacking football and plenty of goals
Last season, no crowds and poor displays was horrible to watch. We did well to get 3rd as last year was a disaster
Just happy to be really enjoying football in general again. No idea how we watched it without fans

Interesting reading comments elsewhere on one of the fans defending the decision to play Milner. Okay, so his argument is that we won’t play Man City every week. True.
But we played them today. The eventuality in all fairness against the intensity and the number of attacks Man City will produce is that one of them will turn costly.
Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and even Raheem Sterling.
We have to consider formulating a solid back 4 from the squad we have that can deal with pace or a strategy that stops the ball being received lesser in that part of the area of which my thought lies on our defensive midfielders.
