I think next game, give Foden a rest and play Gordon on the left. The lad has pace to burn and works his bollocks off going in the other direction as well. We need quick players on either wing to run past Kane if he is going to keep coming deep. I love Foden as a player, but it doesn’t work with him out on the left. Can always bring him on and play him central if we need.
Also, drop Trent (feel a bit sorry for him as he is not a midfielder) and play Adam Wharton there. We lack control of games and Wharton alongside Rice will give you this. His range of passing is very good, his ability to get the ball back from the opposition is one of his biggest strengths too. Let’s start playing players in the positions they play for their clubs.

I Got the future England international bit correct…

The topic is you used to be good at selling players for good money now you are not 🙂

That doesn’t surprise me, they been a shambles since then at boardroom level and on the pitch. Did he say how much City had spent in the same period for comparison? City are much better at selling players for a decent price though, United seem to get rock bottom whenever they try and sell anyone!

Last thing on this (promise) looking through your site at the Blackburn page, I notice it says we sold Bentley for £7.5m in 08/09. We sold him for more than double that! That’s a big difference!

I think the main difference is that my site has Stam coming technically in the 1997/98 season and signing for £10.75m but the other has him coming in the 98/99 season. I think its a technicality as Stam was signed in 1998 on July 1st haha.

One example that is completely wrong on the website that you are looking at is that is says Jon Macken sighed for Preston for £1.75 Million. That is complete rubbish and a made up figure.

I used Soccer base and added them up season by season. I’m pretty confident this is more accurate.
https://www.soccerbase.com/teams/team.sd?team_id=1724&teamTabs=transfers
You can also look up every team and every season going back as far as you like.
Anyway, I apologise for being a boring bastard haha.

The Newcastle one is £7m out and is £34.5m
The Arsenal one is £7m out and is £24m
The Liverpool one is £4m out and is £25.7m
The Chelsea one is bang on at £27.7
The Spurs one is £11m out and is £29.8m
The City one is £1m out at £13m
Aston Villa were £22m
Everton were £18.3
West Ham were £3.5m
Leeds were £22.7Just to add another one in there, Blackburn who were seen as big spenders actually were in profit by £100,000!
In conclusion, Man United didn’t spend as much as other clubs in those years. They then went on to spend a lot more.
Very quiet at work today so spent an hour looking this up haha.

Ok, even using those transfers it is still £10.2m so it is still wrong.

Where is this from? What Source? These figures are completely wrong. I have had a look and i get it at a net spend of £26.95m Still not loads considering what they won. I would question the other figures of the other teams if the United one is so wildly wrong!
The major signings for United were (over £500,000):
1992 – Dublin £1m
1992- Cantona £1.2m
1993- Keane £3.75m
1994- May – £1.4m
1995- Cole £7m
1996- Van Der Gouw £500,000
1996- Johnsen £1.2m
1996- Solskjaer £1.5m
1996- Poborsky £3.5m
1996- Cruyff £1.5m
1997- Sheringham £3.5m
1997- Nevland £1.5m
1997- Berg £5m
1998- Greening £750,000
1998- Stam £10.75m
1998- Yorke £12.6mTotal £56.65m (plus around £600,000 in other signings) so £57.25m
Major Outgoings Over £500,000:
1992- Robins £800,000
1992- Webb £800,000
1994- Dublin £1.95m
1995- Gillespie £1m
1995- Hughes £1.5m
1995- Ince £7m
1995- Kanchelskis £5.8m
1996- Sharpe £4.5m
1997- Poborsky £2m
1998- Pallister £2mTOTAL: £27.35m (plus around £2.95m other signings £30.3m
This gives is a net spend of £26.95m
Don’t believe everything you read on the Internet…
(Yes I was bored)

Don’t think you have got your numbers right there. A few of those transfer fees are wrong, for example:
Salah was £32 million not £43.9 million.
Robertson was £8m not £10m.
Fabinho was £39m not 43.7m.
Wijnaldum was £23m not £25m
Thiago was £20m not £27.4m
Diaz was £37.5m not £50mStill a lot of money but not as much as you say.
Also, Pep has changed how most Premier League sides play the game now. He is constantly coming up with new ways of playing and getting the best out of his team. He was the first to try the inverted full back (or centre half in John Stones) and no other team is playing 4 centre backs across a back 4! He is innovative, driven and an unbelievable manager. Yes he gets a lot of money to help him with this, but other managers have spent a lot of money and failed. Just look at Man United for the past 10-11 years! Spent an absolute fortune and have a starting 11 that maybe only 1 player would get in a top 6 side in Mainoo!

He clearly means over the course of the rest of the season. You have a league game in GW34 though too as well as an FA Cup Semi Final.

When you say new player for Palace do you mean Mateta who has been there 3 years and played 87 Premier League games…
One to watch at Palace is Adam Wharton. Future England international for sure. Can’t see him being at Palace for too long as he is destined for a top 6 club in the coming years. He really is special.

As a neutral who doesn’t really like either side, it was 100% a penalty. Very clumsy challenge by Wan Bissaka. Entertaining game, United really are poor though. On the plus side for them, they have a star in Mainoo. What a player he is going to become!

That CBS coverage is dreadful. It’s just Carragher and Richards constantly going ohhhhhh, ahhhhhhhh wooooooo all the time. It’s embarrassing when they interview a player too. They are not your mates lads, be professional. Supposed its aimed at the American audience not us but can’t imagine the Americans enjoying the banterfication of “soccer”.
