30th October 2017 at 11:15 pm in reply to: Joey Barton horrible treatment towards David Unsworth #6845I don’t think in all my years of following football have I ever seen a co-commentator or a so-called pundit comment repeatedly on somebody’s weight.
Of course, credentials comes in when one is being considered to be employed. But with Unsworth, it’s an interim appointment.
And if he was told or if he wasn’t hired on a permanent basis because of the way he was perceived by his weight, it’s direct discrimination.
The culture of talksport usually comes across as relaxed and informal, but Barton was just outright crude and incessant when commenting on personal appearance.

You need good solid financial clout and to be able to back the Manager. Granted, Pep had his first season experience in the PL and he wanted insist on his style of football. He made the necessary changes and clearly is not backwards when needing to move certain individuals on in order to address issues properly.
That’s where with my own club I feel aggrieved that we are still sticking with certain individuals inspite of bringing in new faces, possibly because they themselves haven’t hit the ground straight away.

Nine, haha, it’s a clear distinction that stays with me 🙂 🙂
On the point re Jose, I’m not a fan of his or his style of football as such, but I don’t get him being criticised when his team beat a top quality outfit and took all 3 points. What does it matter to anyone if it’s 1-0 or 4-0?
There’s just too much focus on Man City at the moment me thinks and not enough of the other PL teams are given equal spotlight.

Jim, I would give credence to their consistency, but what’s anything new from last week or the week before? To much thinking time me thinks. The pundits maybe in the BBC studio are running out of compliments!
A mere 10 games and it’s portrayed by certain sections of the media as if to say they have already won it. And on the basis of attacking football, this time last year, we were high-flying until it went all pear-shaped for us.

Just browsed on the BBC website, so there’s an article criticising Jose for winning 1-0, and on the other hand (once a again!) waxed lyrical on Man City.
Nothing’s changed since last week points-diff between the 2 Manchester clubs. There’s just added thrust on being critical towards Jose whilst bigging up Pep. I’m not a fan of neither don’t get me wrong, but it’s this in my view that’s killing a steady flow of week by week football, and just absorbing it all as a fan.

Happy to be back to winning ways. That’s all that matters.
My problem purely and simply is building a momentum of good results and in reality under Jurgen, we’ve failed.
There is no 4 wins on the bounce or 5 games without defeat just to throw out there off the top of my head in reckoning.
Work to clearly work on and ultimately, let’s live it by the day and take it week by week.

Brian, take all your points.
Ideally to a degree, the FA and Club Managers should work together to ensure consistency in development of these players.
We’re succumbed admittedly as football supporters (purely down to nature) in being wrapped up in the comings and goings of our own club, and results delivered domestically.
Club Managers are naturally homed in on focus solely on what they can deliver because of the targets set and the pressure of Employers/Owners.
Got to ultimately hope these individual players find their way the right way.

Well, lightly or fundamentally, it’s a double argument for the goodness being that Jose achieves results. I myself feel he’s destroying football with Buses, Coaches, Tractors, et al.
I don’t know. If Liverpool could win the league for example in such pragmatic and a stringent way, off course, I’d be delighted, however, I am known for being ultra critical of Rafa’s own defensive approach and attacking restrictions placed; some games to my recollection ended in horrible draws at home that need a Steve McMananman run 86, and Robbie Fowler finishing on 90 right on the Referees whistle!
4 minutes for a sprint and dribble is too long 😀

28th October 2017 at 8:26 pm in reply to: Jason Cundy and Robbie Savage: One or the other? Both? Or Neither? #6801Brian, thanks for the reply.
I would say all in all, it depends on what you as a Listener want. My personal reasoning is to gain a perspective ideally for those calling attended the games.
However, I do like both Robbie and Jason because they will speak the voice in my opinion on what the majority of supporters for example are thinking or feeling (at the time).

Wonderful achievement for a very young team.
The challenge now for a lifetime to come is how these very young footballers are guided (if they are), the opportunities presented or worked for when it comes to club football, and the choices made.
Being considered for the national team (which is an honour when you are selected) is earned on merit through club performances.
You would think the theory being to try and bag yourself a high profile club. But as we know, it’s very easy to be faded out in the background than to be noticed and allowed the game time in the first team.
Sincere best wishes to all those involved because I would love for them to represent our national team, senior level in the not too distant future.

999, that was driven on spite mate as a competitive point of view as I don’t want City to be winning every week. They been impressive don’t get me wrong and I’d credit them, but just don’t want to see them pick up 3 points every week.

At last, a decent win for us!
Shame City didn’t drop points, but you can’t have it all. Time to try and build a momentum on this result. West Ham next Saturday!

We need a win and supporters to get behind the Club.

Salah so far has been working tirelessly and has been one of the key components for us. Kudos to the fella. It seems as though Klopp’s little brother or good friend in the Huddersfield boss appears pretty confident going into the game.
It could be a matter of our supporters really getting behind the reds and give a newly promoted team a footballing lesson. 5-0 is not a write off!

It’s a shame Kane’s not going to be available for tomorrow. Spurs to be fair have a good form guide so far away from home, so whether Poch will go for setting his stall out and play for a draw, he’d probably be the happier of the 2 managers. Lorente’s gotta get involved and it would probably take also for Errikson and/or Alli to step it up.
I wouldn’t rule out on the other hand a 2-0 United Victory with both of them goals being scored in the last 10 minutes.

The women are now muscling in with their ‘feminism’! That’s not me being sexist by the way, just their approach through the national media.

The one singing defensive-wise that has come up trumps for us is Joel Matip. What I simply struggle to comprehend with is signing somebody who you’d think would be either ahead in the pecking order or a complete replacement for the future is sat waiting on the sidelines: Karius, Robertson.
And one of the worst parts of this is lack of resources (as mentioned in and around my previous reply) when you have your main right-back with a back injury.
Is this all completely down to Jurgen Klopp and does he really have such great control over decisions made and actions taken on the pitch?
