Anfield 1989, when we could afford to even lose by 1 goal lol! 😀
So nothing is still yet sewn up as they say – would be a fabulous night if we can get all 3 points tomorrow 🙂

1-0 leaves us with hope, but Newcastle gotta believe in themselves more and take their chances with conviction.
Will probably end with 3 or 4 if City score first in the second half.

Pretty bad weather conditions in many parts of England with rain, sleet, snow and the freezing weather. Will be interesting to see how Tonight’s games pan out in these playing conditions.
A lot of desire, resilience and patience needed.

4th Spot and onwards from a fan’s POV is like a poison chalice. Yes, your team gets to compete with the Elite, but you have to think realistically about your chances of actually being able to win it.
Financially of course, it’s lucrative, but I take my own club’s example in not having won a Cup for 7 years – not good at all.
Interestingly, thinking about Arsenal under Wenger’s reign in underachieving or ‘dropping down a level or two’, The Gunners actually hold the most FA Cup Titles.
Maybe there’s a correlation too in a trophy being harder to win if you’ve not won it for a long time as we’ve experienced in recent years ala the Prem Title.
Fans eventually reach a point where they just had enough in being the Bridesmaid and want somebody in charge with a clear intent to achieve success in Silverware.

Sean, you’re probably right mate re Fabinho.
I’m now counting down for Ox’s comeback – just over a month – here’s hoping 🙂

I’m with Sean. Aldridge was a fantastic servant for us of his ilk.
And also, he’s not cut out to be someone choosing to give a measured view – he’s better suited down the Pub for his type of chat.

Adlab,
I certainly don’t think of Man City in that way, and my reckoning is that there’s mutual respect and liking between the two clubs. Pep has spoken highly of Klopp, and so there’s no need for Aldridge to behave like this.
Probably best for this left in isolation and ignored mate. That’s why these days, I don’t pay too much attention to pundits and the media circus.

Nine, I thought along those lines too mate re Arsenal.
That’s why I’m not much in favour of investing in New Stadiums unless the club has an Investor who is able to pump in serious money all round, ala top quality players and high salaries.
It’s unlikely to happen with Levy in the immediate future. Some players will be loyal enough commit themselves, but if their head is turned and all they are experiencing is plateau season in season out, the wheels eventually are off.
It’s a real shame with Spurs because they’re not a long way off, but they need to be able to be that club able to shell-out 60/70 on Top Quality and build on their depth of squad.
Cheers

I do get the juggling act and the fear in taking risks, factoring squad depth and games. I’m still gutted under Klopp, we’ve been on the wrong end of 3 Cup Finals. Probably down to a small handful of reasons, but one stand out is sustainability and proper quality in depth of squad.
You have to account to be able to compete properly in more than one competition, investment is needed and those integral to your squad have to be looked after with handsome salaries and being tied down to new contracts.
It seems to me with Spurs, the clear objective is ensuring CL qualification knowing the bigger picture is to be competing in an Elite Competition in the New Stadium that will positively impact revenue, both TV and paying fans at the Turnstiles.
Maybe overall, it’s a gradual process in being able to free up more money for the Transfer Kitty.

Chelsea faced a different opposition and have in fairness to them squad depth that will take care of the job in hand. There were plenty of regulars last night that started plus Wednesday and Palace are two different propositions and Palace of late have stepped up.

Mav, that’s right. Haha, as long as he doesn’t score against us.
Just a general appreciation of a Top Player mate. We don’t have a great deal on the Prem circuit like we used to.

Feel for Tottenham you have to say and it’s sad to be out of 2 comps in just days. Hope this hasn’t shaped complete their whole season for the worse and hope they do well in the CL.

Don’t know why Leicester sold Jeffrey Schlupp – he linked well with Connor Wickham.

Well, decent run out tonight for HiguaÃn. Would like to see more of him, and hopefully, he opens his account for the Blues soon.
No qualms on VAR and both calls correct. Hard job for the Ref to consistently be accurate.
Holders came out stronger in the end and didn’t treat this lightly which is how it should be.
