Why doesn’t FFP Ever do anything to Man United just out of interest?

Madonna’s Immaculate Collection – a bargain at just £3, Brand New, and not from HMV! 😀

They’ve sort of been a little like Liverpool though in the 90s after Dalglish’s departure trying to find the right formula ala Players and Manager;
First, Moyes, then Van Gaal, then Jose. As an ‘interim’ Solskjaer has already proved himself in a short space of time how much goodness he can bring with the players he’s been given to work with.

It’s a matter of opinions, fair dos but anybody saying we don’t completely miss him????? I’d struggle to buy that.
Our all round team game has improved and we’ve been more measured than an all out gung-ho, but when we need somebody to dribble, cut inside and UNLEASH ONE we now miss in Coutinho.
I love little Shaqiri and he’s tries his best, but we can’t leave it all to him to pull the rabbit out of the hat.
This is where the OX comes into the equation. I do hope a Coutinho type of player is on Klopp’s radar when the Summer Transfer Window kicks in.

Mak @ 2:42,
just read your reply mate and all good. I know the season you were referring to and things got quite heavy in that place. That January reminded me a bit when we had this January, but we had a ‘full house’ for the first time as far as December went so it’s probably the reason why we held Top Spot for quite a number of weeks.
We’re in a better stead this time round I feel than 2016/17.
Cheers

Nine, @ 2:01, yeah you’re right mate – pleased that we had that ‘buffer’ in Coutinho’s transfer that enabled us to spend in the way we needed to.
Cheers

If there is a comparison on City, sure, we can’t spend like for like, but we have shown in very most recent times that we are able to shell-out when it’s needed.
I’m not sure whether FFP is imposed in strictness or whether it’s more relaxed, but boundaries should have zero tolerance on any of our players to be on 200-300k a week. That can’t be on and we’re not that type of a Business Model irrespective of our history from the 1980s which in itself was a completely different scale factor.
The difference between Pep and Klopp in circumstance is that City almost over a 10 year period have not had to deal with an overhaul.
Liverpool on the other had with the frequent change in management have changed in their personnel of players. There are not many individuals in our squad that were the same names under Brendan Rodgers.
Klopp’s been there 3 years or there thereabouts, and he’s needed transfer windows to get build the squad the way he wants it.
Although we’re not there at the very optimum level, we have shown we’re able to compete and match the Elite on the pitch.
A fine line in being Finalists, but on the wrong end (very unfortunate). Heads can graciously be held high though, I would say.

Imagine though if that tweet had come from a Liverpool player, then what the reaction would have been? Personally, thought he was a bit of an arse tweeting that considering the picture of Harry Maguire and us drawing to Leicester, but maybe that’s just me being a tad precious.
Also, if it’s meant to be just a bit of fun, stuff like that anyway just causes a stir.
Personally, I don’t think it was in the spirit it was intended, but more of a green-eyed monster. Anyway, Klopp handled it well in the Press Conference when asked about it.

Nine, I’m not too clued up on the clubs surrounding the Prem, but I do believe clubs in other divisions where there are designated Forums and Community Message Boards, people do have their ‘voices heard’ and are taken notice of.
You are right to a certain degree as far as influence on the Pitch goes, but we live in a world more than ever where so much is picked up, talked about and accentuated.
Some light-hearted poking fun and banter is there, but there as you know is also sniping. I don’t think certain mediums like Twitter help and in my view players should be refrained in setting up accounts. Otherwise, we have example like Kyle Walker the other day in which that tweet was uncalled for.
Managers in the best possible way deflect this attention (when questioned by the media) to keep a clear head, but all in all mate, the mind games if anything can be toxic.

Nine, as silly as this will sound mate, I’m too scared to go to that place you’re alluding to. Simply because of Warrington Red and the stuff he writes about Liverpool.

Mak,
the point I was trying to make is that it doesn’t bring any positives to adopt a defeatist attitude, especially when this becomes habitual.
Everyone has their downs. But usually, you reach a point where you can dust yourself down and feel a sense of optimism and hope. Doesn’t our club have a slogan, Dare To Dream?
And as far as luxury of wealth and City go, FFP (so it seems) are starting to clamp down. I bet Pep and Co have been ordered to reign it in. Yes, wealth opens a door full of choice, but it’s not the be all and end all.
You look on the pitch though and that game at Newcastle: Rafa’s Boss would rather invest in buying out Debenhams than to put does in the Transfer kitty, Yet the Rabbit was pulled out of a hat and who would have though after being 1-0 up that Magpies would turn it around?
The wealth does not suggest a foregone conclusion and a David V Goliath. City were 3rd not long ago underneath a team who has Daniel Levy as their Boss (another Stingy git!).
Yet has it stopped Tottenham trying to aspire? No. And that this is all about. Sure we have had numerous broken hearts, but I forever want my team to keep trying and trying and as long as they give it their all, I’m proud of them.
Apart from them dark times around 93, 99, and 2010, I’ve never been completely deflated in hope of my club achieving Success and Silverware.

Brian, agree with your point on Gomez.
The reason why a lot of emphasis has been placed on him is because he has excelled for us and has proved he is assured in his position. He is reliable. A real void for us since his injury in the defensive unit and Goalie conceding more goals.
Plus, Liverpool just lack over depth in their squad of good replacement defenders. Lovren’s generally ok, but he has a howler in him, and that won’t change even with his experience.
I don’t know if Klopp is keen in investing in maturity and I do feel in this day and age, a 27/29 year old player is by no means over the hill, but somebody who at the very least is ready-made and knows his trade.
Comparing this to Man City:
LaPorte 24, young, but not incredibly young. Danilo, 27, Kyle Walker 28 and Delph 29 offer a little more experience at the back.
I know certain key areas have been addressing in a solid Centre Half and a GK in Van Dijk and Allison, but there needs to be reinforcements this summer to avoid getting into a situation as we have done with a depleted defence.

Nine @1:36,
It’s a tough game in hand for us mate, agree on that. However, the same could be said for when Man City go there and I don’t think it’ll be an easy ride for them, plus United probably now believe they can get 4th Spot.

Mak @7:49, Gomez won’t be injured forever mate, he’ll be back.
As with Ox as well. It’s hugely frustrating when we are depleted, but when we have our strongest, we’re the best in the League (I believe).

I agree with three ps.
The bottom line is: It’s a competition. and irrespective of the depth of Man City’s squad and the monies spent as investment, on the pitch it has proved at least 2 clubs in Tottenham and Liverpool have been able to compete.
It’s not a david v goliath and last season we beat City in both the Champions League and the Premier League.
Some sections of the media brown-nose City yet forget or dismiss at the back of their mind that at one point, City were 3rd in the Table (overtaken by Spurs). Yet, I still read “they will run away with it” or “will win by 10 points”.
There is no way on this planet they will dominate a full decade, no way. There’s plenty of money in the game and plenty of investors out there.

Is there any way we can refrain using $? Anything would think there was some sort of a grudge for the sake of their wealth.
