West Ham just aren’t going away are they? Going to be very interesting now to watch the race for the final top 4 places. Lingard has been an inspired signing by Moyes and West Ham. Even Utd aren’t quite safe yet albeit it would be one hell of a collapse to fall away now. As long as Utd avoid defeat at Spurs on Sunday, I’d say we’re fine.
As for who’s under most pressure to get a top 4 spot, both Chelsea and Liverpool should be getting top 4 with their squads. Either missing out this season will be deemed a huge shock. I still fancy both to do it with Leicester having some really tough games remaining.

Brighton were very good first half and Utd very sloppy. They were great value for their lead. Utd much better in the second though without being spectacular. Big 3 points in the end

Moos, whether or not Tuchel succeeds at Chelsea, and it’s way too early to judge him a success or a failure, that doesn’t change the fact that Lampard was way out of his depth at Chelsea.
Don’t let his legendary player status distract you from the fact that he had the lowest points per game of ANY manager under the Abramaovich era. Chelsea were getting increasingly worse the longer Lampard stayed and that’s just not acceptable with arguably the second strongest squad in the league.
Yesterday was a freak result but we won’t know until probably another year or so whether Tuchel is up to the job or not.

No I agree Mikus. Arsenal clearly thought they were getting Guardiola 2.0 (simply because they worked together) but they’ve basically hired Mourinho 2.0 minus the trophies.
No doubt he’ll continue to evade the kind of criticism a Jose side gets after one of his bus parking performances.

Arteta has his bus out again for a big game. Nothing wrong with a good defensive display but Arsenal really need the points here tonight and they look like they just don’t want to lose.

I can see both sides of the Aguero argument. As for the blocking of the development of younger players, I think it works both ways. Is there a better mentor to bring in to inspire and help the younger players than arguably one of the best goalscorers in PL history?
Utd have done it a couple of times in recent years with Zlatan and later Cavani and I don’t think either blocked any pathway for younger players, rather they’ve often spoken about how much it’s helped their game to train with these experienced players.
I’d take Aguero in a heartbeat at Utd. Obviously never going to happen!

I’m with you on Raiola though Brian. Horrible man. As good as Haaland is, I’d honestly be quite happy to miss out on him purely because that man is his agent.

We’ll see Brian. The same was said last season but everything pointed towards Messi being chased by City with an eye watering offer last summer until he wasn’t allowed to leave. If City aren’t amongst the top spenders again this summer, I’ll be astonished.
I’ve no problem with it at all but this act of being unable to afford the top players by Pep is massively hypocritical.

Come off it Adlab π. This is coming from the man who has spent half a billion on his defence. Of course he’s saying he can’t afford to buy people in the hope the price comes down. City will always be in for the best players.
They’re the most expensively assembled team in history so I don’t for a minute believe City won’t be spending big again this summer and rightly so. Whether that includes Haaland or not remains to be seen but it certainly won’t be because they “can’t afford it”.

Nine, my point is that it’s only bad business if you can definitely get him now for 130mil AND definitely can get him next season for 65mil. That is indeed bad business.
But if getting him this season ensures you get him, in turn preventing potentially missing out next summer AND preventing your rival potentially getting him for a bargain fee next season, then there is an argument that those that can afford him this summer can’t afford to not try.

Β£130mil over a 6 Yr contract is Β£20mil a year as far as FFP is concerned. Most top clubs can generate that in sales of academy/surplus players each season without any trouble.

Also note the fee Romano mentions. 150mil Eur is just short of Β£130mil. A lot of money in the middle of a pandemic but less than what Coutiinho went for. Fees will get back to normal before long. Now is the time to move if clubs can afford it.

Sounds like Raoila is doing a tour of Europe to start a bidding war. Raiola will do absolutely everything in his power to make the move happen this summer as it means more money for him.
Mino Raiola is meeting with Real Madrid after Barcelona and the plan for #Haaland is so clear: talk with 5 top clubs interested, their projects, proposals and then decide for the future. Itβll be a long race.
BVB position: wonβt accept less than β¬150m to sell him this summer. https://t.co/U6D8TyobWS

Why would any Club pay 180m Euros for Haaland this Summer when they can buy him for 100m Euros less in the following Summer?
I’m not sure it’s as simple as that Nine. Otherwise, you could say “why ever pay a transfer fee for anyone when they’ll be out of contract in x years?”. The group of clubs who can buy Haaland next summer is much, much bigger.
So, clubs which are less affected by the pandemic could look to take advantage of the fact there will be less competition this summer for Haaland for the very reason that he’s more gettable next summer.

Got the win we needed yesterday but far from convincing. Can’t be too hard on Stones as he’s had a tremendous season but it’s not the first time he’s messed up like that for England and cost us a goal.

Cityboy, you have to remember this is Mino Raiola we’re talking about. Haaland is 20 years old. If he gets the Barca/Madrid move now, then he’ll stay there for a long time and there will be no potential big move at 25-27 as there isn’t really a step up available then.
Raiola is only interested in maximising his own earnings so he’ll know that a move to the PL for 3-5 years then sets up a huge payday for him when Haaland hits his peak and Real Madrid then come in for him.
My bet would be on City or Chelsea if anything were to happen this summer. Alternatively, he stays another season and Bayern then swoop in with the release clause, replacing Lewandowski with Haaland. Lewandowski going back to Dortmund as a sweetener.

Mino Raiola to The Athletic: βI donβt give a f*ck if I never do another player with Man Utd. Iβm not in their hands. Iβm independent. Guardiola? Iβve closed the book a long time ago. Everybody knows what I think of him personally; he can say what he thinks for me personallyβ.
The prospect of Haaland going to City might not be straightforward after all. As good as Haaland is, the fact Raiola is his agent means I’m really not bothered who he joins. Horrible agent he is.

Yeah I agree Nine. Wouldn’t surprise me if he’s brought in by Laporta as the sweetener in convincing Messi to stay. Messi was no doubt holding out for Neymar coming back but Aguero would be tons cheaper and probably every bit as appealing to Messi.
