I cant wait for window to shut just so Chelsea stop spending money!
I mean I cant pretend a transfer ban can be taken on the chin because its more than that. It will cost a lot in commercial terms and growth.
Missing thresholds by a few million is one thing and I will probably excuse it, as it is a tight rope, and I am demanding we spend all we can, but to overshoot it by 10s of millions would be an utter disgrace to the club and the league. Blatant disregard of rules should be severely punished and I won’t be able to change my stance on that.

I don’t think there is a loophole, I just think they know they are able to offset this years liabilities with sales. However we must be counting on doing same each season or the revenue substantially increasing.
What will be most important will be wage bill and I think despite all spending the wage bill has reduced considerably, especially this season with most contracts being reduced due to no champs league.
Chelsea need to be back in top 4 this season, this is my gut feeling, fail to do that and a breach next year is almost guaranteed without sale of our best players.

Only a club’s outgoings in transfers, employee benefits (including wages), amortisation of transfers, finance costs and dividends will be counted over income from gate receipts, TV revenue, advertising, merchandising, disposal of tangible fixed assets, finance, sales of players and prize money. Any money spent on infrastructure, training facilities or youth development will not be included.[49] The legislation currently allows for eight separate punishments to be taken against clubs transgressing the rules, based in order of severity: reprimand / warning, fines, points deduction, withholding of revenue from a UEFA competition, prohibition to register new players for UEFA competitions, restrictions on how many players a club can register for UEFA competitions, disqualification from a competition in progress and exclusion from future competitions.[50]
Clubs are permitted to spend up to €5 million more than they earn per assessment period (three years). However it can exceed that level to a limit if it is covered by a direct contribution from the club’s owner

Hmmm, don’t know what to think of Gravenburch; know nothing about him at all.
Hope he can help us. Summer windows generally aren’t the kindest to us in getting good business done. I’m actually feeling the shock today weirdly in the departures of Hendo and Fabinho. Our situation sort of propelled to essentially having fill the gaps left quite quickly. I don’t think Arthur Melo even played one senior game for us. Our depth only entails Curtis Jones, Stefan Bajcetic, and Harvey Elliot.
Not a single defensive midfielder out of those individuals.
We need to sign defenders now in the next window and layer up our squad.

Nil, Considering your squad needed an entirely new midfield this season, I think you have done pretty well with the 4 you have brought in.
I think you are counting on Endo doing the job this season at least, but like you say a long term DM plus defensive reinforcement is ideally required too.
It’s a tasty squad, despite any slight deficiencies we may point out.

The Salah gossip is absurd.
If Saudi had any belief they could sign him this summer they would have put a monster bid in months ago when Liverpool would have been more agreeable, maybe, with a whole summer to plan accordingly. But to think they would come in with 150m after our window closes just makes no sense at all.
I think pool will get best of both worlds, plan for a big cash in on him next summer and start the succession planning now. In the meantime you know what you are going to get from him, goals and assists a plenty.

Neploean, as somebody who deals with Saudi’s on a regular basis, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see them make a deal Pool can’t refuse… he would be the “man” there and it would make a huge statement for the Saudi’s… this whole Saudi League is just a willy-waving competition for them and they have both the money and the attitude to just keep throwing it around until they get what they want… they most certainly wouldn’t want to lose face with it being suggested they didn’t have enough…
I think the decision rests with Mo, if he wants to go they’ll stump on the cash…

We’d be well off financially for sure for what Saudis pay. We need him though and he’s starting to click with Nunez. Not only that, Salah generally turns up on the big occasion. If somebody can pluck out a replacement of his stature, then I’d be game. Nobody is indespensible anymore.⚽️🕹👍🏻

Whilst we now have more variety in our attack, Salah is still absolutely key. Not just his goals but all round play. You talk about those recent Nunez goals, but look at the quality of that through ball to him by Salah. So hard to find that quality. This is what is so infuriating about us not investing more at the back to be title contenders again. Players like Salah won’t be there forever, we may still lose him next year. So you’ve got to try and make the most of what you have when you have it.

To use Salah to his best he needs to be closer to the goal. That means abandon the IFB, get Robertson providing width on the left, Trent pinging those majestic deep crosses from the right and keep Nunez on the bench.
If the FBs don’t provide width then the wide attackers stay wider.
Liverpool needed new players that is clear, time creeps up on even the best. But it’s the tactics that is more important, doesn’t matter who you sign if they are not working.
