Here’s one to get the tin-hats out for… was the Granny-Shagger a more “natural” talented footballer than RonaldoII but lacked the professionalism that RonnyII had? I actually think he was a better baller, just not as professoinal… not saying he (Granny-Shagger) didn’t have a top-draw career… but I wonder if he had the same “attitude” as RonnyII how much more/longer it could have been…

16th June 2024 at 6:55 pm #214902Draw’s helped us out. Imagine if the group finishes with 3 teams level on points? I don’t quite understand the full extent of this in logic, but goal difference I’m led to believe won’t be the determined factor but head-to-heads instead and I think ‘A’ with more points from another group even if on 3rd place has the opportunity as a back door route.
I may have mis-read this all though in interpretation.

17th June 2024 at 7:42 am #214904Boring game. The norm with england games really.
Very solid at the back though. Rice mom

17th June 2024 at 10:06 am #214905Should have scored more, Saka excellent first half and then we decided to not pass the ball to him in t he second half. Foden quiet throughout. Not convinced TAA is an international level central midfielder, looks like we are trying to squeeze him in there somewhere. Needed someone who can help Rice out and bridge the gap between Rice and Bellingham (who was masterful). Kane very quiet but very unlucky with his one chance.
Not sure why Saka went off and not Foden and wasn’t sure why Gallagher came on ahead of Mainoo.
There will be sterner tests to come but surely we will gel a bit more.

17th June 2024 at 10:13 am #214906I must be different to ‘the majority’ as I can’t get too excited about Bellingham the way others have been so far. I didn’t take to his attitude in squaring up to the Serbian player. Saka definitely played a good shift on the right.
Always becomes more anxious when you can’t add to your lead and the other team themselves grow in confidence. I just don’t feel it unfortunately with this England team; been wowed by Germany since Friday and Spain look cool too.

17th June 2024 at 11:10 am #214907Yes, I think Southgate can be a bit too defensive when we go a goal up, but we had enough to see the match out.
TBH I am glad Bellingham stood up to them, they were clearly leaving a foot in on some of our players, and arriving late in other challenges. Ref should have caught on early to that and sort it out with a few cards.

17th June 2024 at 1:28 pm #214908Just the same old England for me. The usual over hype before the tournament begins and then a performance that looked average for a lot of the game. We still look like we lack that togetherness and passion you see in the other big European teams. We were very casual in possession too many times. And whilst we have some good attacking players, Iβm still not convinced about us at the back. And then thereβs Gareth Southgate. In some ways England reminded me of Liverpool last season – some very good attacking play but unable to control games and too loose in possession.

17th June 2024 at 2:16 pm #214909Exactly this Mikus; maybe I’ve seen far too many tournaments pan out in a pretty much same way; maybe I’m getting a little old lol.
I don’t quite see the same Foden or Declan Rice I am seeing for their Clubs. Trent I am intrigued with in his new midfield role.
Can’t complain about the officiating and handling of the Tech/VAR so far. The Prem can take a leaf out of this tournament should it continue to be managed in the right way. Just football for me without the soap drama.

17th June 2024 at 2:18 pm #214910I kinda get where you’re coming from Alfie in standing up and being counted, but I’m just praying the aggression isn’t channelled in the wrong way. We’ll just generate unnecessary headlines for the wrong reasons.
Agree in effectively asking for trouble sitting on a 1-0 lead.

17th June 2024 at 6:58 pm #214911Thought that handball was a bit harsh… barely brushed it, completely accidental, and didn’t gain anything from it I’m thinking… but rules are rules…

18th June 2024 at 9:20 pm #214922Caught a little bit of the first half from the Portugal game having come from work. Time and time again whether it’s the BBC or the ITV, the studio pundits really playout half-time beating themselves up over thinking and outlining criticism after criticism.
Tougher for them to find positives from a 0-0, but they seem taken aback when games haven’t gone to what they predicted or expected.
First week and round can be an eyesore and a slog to watch. The pundits from all quarters need to lighten themselves and come out of being in some sort of a courtroom!

18th June 2024 at 10:20 pm #214923Nil, I find punditry increasingly conformist, exacerbated I think by the host asking them leading questions to answer them in the way they want them to. Indeed I think thereβs now more of an emphasis on positivity, banter and laughs than proper analysis. It feels more and more like weβre in an idiocracy.

19th June 2024 at 7:39 pm #214924Thomas Frank was pretty cool von the BBC. I sense it takes one to relax the others. Lampard seem a little on the bland side.
Mikus collectively, we’re a lot better in analysis, re on here π

20th June 2024 at 5:47 pm #214928Itβs like we are a man short in midfield. This right back to play cross field balls in midfield idea doesnβt cut the mustard at international level.

20th June 2024 at 6:14 pm #214929Alfie, all the stick will come trents way which is fair enough and hes the easy target but what about the rest of them? Trent shouldnt be playing in midfield. Maino should be in there.
Rice giving the ball away, is belligham playing?
No sign of foden again. Kane terrible for their goal
England over hyped as usual. Drawn in a very easy group yet dominated in games by average sides. Its rinse and repeat ladt few hours. Its boring now. Listen to pubdits etc just over hyping this england team who as soon as they face a proper decent side just fold
Players be absolutely slated by media tomorrow no matter what the result especially trent.

20th June 2024 at 6:19 pm #214930If an attack minded coach was making a sub in place of Southgate, he would have taken off Trent and replaced with an attacking player, either Gordon or Palmer, move Bellingham next to Rice and movve Foden centrally. where Foden is playing now doesn’t suit him, he will not be able to affect the game, and remember he doesn’t have De Bruyne at England, so he needs to drop deep and get the ball.

20th June 2024 at 6:25 pm #214931Young blue i think england just sat nack when they scored. The usual under Southgate
Some good options on the bench so use them and go for it
