I might be wrong but I cant imagine too many Liverpool fans want to be “given” the title. Perhaps Im wrong?
When I look at the value of my pension funds each day, football becomes very secondary. My funds are already 14% down and dropping every day.
Of concern is those fans and others losing their jobs or having no work etc. Who gets the title etc becomes irrelevant.
If the season is cancelled what happens to season tickets?_____________________________

Apologies didn’t read the whole thread but it’s a crazy thing to suggest. All clubs must finish the season. It’s about the likes of Leeds, Rotherham, wba villa, Watford etc.
I’m not on twitter for the reasons you say Paxton. I just don’t see it in my circle mate

The Premier League and FA have announced that all professional football in England is postponed until no earlier than April 30. The rules state the season must be completed on June 1 but that will be extended indefinitely for this season.

The announcement from the PL,FA, and the EFL that English Football is suspended until at last April 30th looks pretty ridiculous to me. Football was never going to resume before April 30th.
Whether the PL,FA and the FA and more importantly the majority of the fans still have the appetite to extend the season indefinitely if we get into September or October or even later than that before Football can recommence is still open to conjecture imo.

I read it that at the first opportunity to complete the season 2019-2020 ie. when it is finally deemed safe to play the game under whatever conditions at that time, that will be done before considering start and finish dates for season 2020-2021. Is that therefore not set in stone? The articles I have attached above suggest it is.

67, I don’t disagree with the philosophy of trying to complete the Season if possible but the point I was making was that we are now in March and every day now in fact almost every hour the circumstances around Corona Virus changes and the reality is nobody knows how all this is going to work out and when football may be able to recommence.
If it for instance gets to September or October or perhaps even later will the football bodies and more importantly the fans still have the same appetite to complete the Season no matter what personally I have my doubts.
“Let’s complete the Season” is a good philosophy today but it may not be such a good philosophy in September or October if we are still struggling to complete the Season.
Nothing is set in stone in these difficult days 67 if we’re still not playing football by September or October perhaps even later which is quite feasible I wonder whether the appetite to complete the season will be as it is today particularly amongst the majority of fans Liverpool fans aside.
As I said it’s a good philosophy but we are heading into the unknown and it all depends on what happens going forwards with the Corona Virus.
At the end of the day given what’s happening in the UK and around the world football and all sport is irrelevant now imo.

It doesn’t matter how long this goes on. When football starts again , be it this time next year then it continues were we are now?
What do you mean by appetite mate? As in if the death toll keeps going and this gets worse? Then I agree but we will get through this and life will go on and when that happens the football will start again
But I agree. I cannot see football staring again at end of April?

Sean,my point was if we get to September or October and we are still struggling to complete the season will everyone Liverpool fans aside still still want to just complete the Season no matter what I’m not sure they will.
Before April 30th there will almost certainly be another announcement by the FA, PL and EL saying football is postponed until May 31st.
This season is over for me right now I don’t care about the FA Cup or where Chelsea finish football is irrelevant to me now as is all Sport everyone staying well and staying safe is the most important thing on my mind.

Sean, re the UK’s strategy personally I think this goes beyond politics and whatever the Government had decided to do and whoever was in power would have been criticised there’s no obvious right and wrong way in these circumstances.
The Government’s strategy is being driven by the experts which seems sensible to me.

Adlab…it depends on the mindset of the fan….like I have said before….Liverpool will not be given the title, they will be awarded it and deservedly so I cannot understand any football fan accepting the “given” remark
As to season tickets, I believe most will be re embursed when the season finally closes, as it should be
I cannot believe talk still goes on at the FA/UEFA about how the season should finish. It is not in there hands, the virus controls the field and the realistic view is, it will get worse, increasing deaths until end of July or maybe after…..so what is football going to do about that? NOTHING, because they cannot do anything, the only glimmer is to play behind closed doors but the Govt if it has any sense will stop that as well. Finish it now and move on Plus.if they arrange fixtures to be played this way, if just one player is affected, it affects the whole programme. Clubs will also have to draw on Police support and paramedics…services taken away from stretched resources trying to protect the public at large. Football is not that important only to SKY BBC, Media, FA and UEFA betting companies etc because they will loose millions. Funny, they do not mind when they make millions from us You have to laugh at the hypocrisy of Sky who claim broken contracts and want the money back from clubs. The Clubs should perhaps get better legal advice when drawing up contracts in the first place…..Greedy lot

I think it’s safe to say that we’d all like to see this season completed, but it has to be completed in a timescale that doesn’t affect the 20-21 season. The 20-21 season has a finish date that will be decided by the start of the Euros. The Euros can’t be held too late in the year as we have a World Cup to fit in mid season of 21-22 and still need to finish football and get a decent break in before the next season.
For myself I wouldn’t like to lose any of the domestic cup competitions (not fair on all the clubs not in European competition) and we can’t lose the European cups as that’s one of the reasons we want to finish this season.
So I think they need to set a cut off date for this season, which is if we don’t start playing by the start of June then they have the big decision of either voiding the season or finishing as the league stands now.
The governing bodies need to sit down, make a decision and then everyone knows where they are and the litigation can begin….Pagan

i dont see many agendas and i get that people will speculate about football on a football forum, but i just dont get it at the moment, i just dont care, i really dont, none of it, not one competetion, until the world can get back on its feet and people can live and survive with jobs and money and family safe from everything i just find it all nonsensicle
if the FA/PL said the only way a plan could work is for Arsenal to be relegated i wouldnt give one fuck

I had a chat to the Liverpool fan that works for me today, he goes home and away and all over Europe. His stance on it was that we need to finish before the end of May, he doesn’t want the season to be extended, he doesn’t want any rules to be changed. The statement that made me laugh was he doesn’t want Liverpool to be the Ferrari of Football….Pagan

Sean, there are no agendas on here I don’t give a flying fig as to what happens to this season or to Chelsea this season it’s over as far as I’m concerned right now and Liverpool are rightly Champions whatever happens.
This is life and death stuff I worry for everyone and I worry for myself and my family.
Someone just across the road from us has just been diagnosed today with Corona Virus.
This is scary stuff and trump’s all football and all sport they are completely unimportant currently!
