“Probably more chance of getting the Mbaye deal done than Barcola.”
That’s what I’ve been saying all along Rob, get Mbaye NOW for less than £40m, and ask questions later.
Hope Hughes has come to his senses, after his massive Isak overpayment blunder, and will never accept being blatantly ripped off in a negotiation ever again.
My Barcola price, £80m max, and I’m not changing my stance.

8th August 2026 at 2:18 pm #252488Signing Mbaye is easier for us registration-wise, he doesnt take a slot up due to his age

8th August 2026 at 2:25 pm #252491Whichever way you look at it, Ronald Araujo on loan is a low-risk deal.
For a start, he’ll be competing with 3 other players, to start alongside Van Dijk, so the best out of these four players will start. And even if they’re all fit, Gomez can be backup at right-back to Frimpong.
And if it doesn’t work out, no problem, he goes back to Barca. But if he succeeds, who knows what will happen.
Main thing, is we now have at least two fit senior CB’s for the start of the league.

8th August 2026 at 2:29 pm #252492“Trying to get a second confirmation on this news, but one person knowing about the Barcola deal…says its off!!”
Moonster, who is this person who has access to information on our negotiations?
I thought these negotiations were totally confidential? Just like the way Muñoz and Araujo were signed completely out of the blue without the media or anyone on this site having a clue.

8th August 2026 at 2:58 pm #252495Wrote this mid June when many claimed we would get both. Not exactly right, but we might end up pretty close.
” Not an unlikely scenario:
– liverpool keeps haggling over Diomande price
– arsenal snap up Barcola
– psg, now with cash, swoop in and takes Diomande
– Liverpool left without top and second target”_____________________________

Sorry, considering Barcola has been spoke about for weeks, its not a secret deal, far from it, its nothing like the two you mention.

8th August 2026 at 4:08 pm #252499Moonster you just have to admit that every ITK source has zero knowledge about what we are doing, other wise someone would have predicted our latest loan deal.

8th August 2026 at 4:13 pm #252500come on lads, we are not giving up on our number one target that desperately wants a move to join us, even if PSG are haggling over the price, FSG might be a bit prudent with their transfer dealings but they are not afraid of committing to the right players. Barcola is one of those, we would have probably used Diomande on the right if we had signed him. We would have made a budget for both targets if available and Barcola is leaving PSG. We are the number one club after him, we have been the number one club after him for the last 5 years or so, the club is publicly leaking every transfer detail about the negotiations with PSG. There is no difference between this deal and any other major deal we have done for the past 10 years. We will continue to hunt him until the last day of the deadline if needed!

8th August 2026 at 5:53 pm #252517Bingo, we’ve lost out on many #1 targets over the past year or two and Barcola could EASILY join that list.

8th August 2026 at 5:56 pm #252518I think Diomande was number 1. We’re already down to no 2.

8th August 2026 at 6:42 pm #252521Rob this reminds me of when we were after Van Dijk, every other club was named as well. Macattack we have been after Barcola for a number of years, I think Diomande would have gone on the right flank.

8th August 2026 at 7:24 pm #252523Agreed on both accounts, yet I got the feeling Diomande was prio 1.

8th August 2026 at 7:48 pm #252525The loan deal brought is actually a positive and an alternative trail of thought.
Sure, we are focused (in belief) in showing ambition to sign quality players but of course, they will come at a price and the terms naturally suitable will be spread payments.
We are already in place with the payments of the players we signed last summer. Reality is to remind ourselves that we did Trade on Net Spend figures.
Definitely open to a Consortium if it helps with an extra injection. That can Extinguish those clubs trying to play Ransom with us. We can SHOW THEM THE MONEY! 🙂

8th August 2026 at 7:56 pm #252527we sure as fuck wanted him but he was not our only target, we had act earlier in the window before the Marketing Cup to get him. He shopped around though, talked to PSG and then decided on Real Madrid.
Of the two I think Barcola is the smarter choice as he got way more experience and wants to be a leading man for a side like us, as I´ve read the story about Diomande he did not like us as we are in transition.
Right now we are pretty much guaranteed to see one or two more signings happen before the window closes.
Ronald Araujo is a very good defender that just needs to be motivated right, I was hoping for Kounde but this is a better deal IMHO.
Think of Munoz as another target after we accepted defeat with Diomande, honestly their profiles are almost the exact same, we got the highest dribbler in Germany vs the highest dribbler in Spain. Diomande price was also very high, honestly we might have found the better player in Munoz as I can´t name another prospect from Spain with a better football education.
I don´t think there is one poster on this forum that can imagine a right footed player playing as a right forward.

8th August 2026 at 8:42 pm #252528This is the kind of defender that can add 5-6 points to our season, he can get us to progress one more stage in the Champions League as well.
He is very likely to be the number one partner to Van Dijk this season, Gomez will always play when fit almost but that is rare so either we can have a really good cup season or not IMHO. I see Gomez starting there with the younger lads, getting them fit, something he knows quite a lot about.
He is also a excellent rightback, the only downfall of his career so far is that depression caused anxiety, or that is how he described it after the Barca fans went after him and his family. Right after he got the captaincy or something like that.
We have had a few players deal with that at the club, some more risky than others, one or two an absolute shame. I could name three prominent striker names and a few more players.
The whole Barcelona squad loves this guy though, he is not an asshole even if depressed, I´m sure as fuck that he already knows the lunch ladies names at Melwood.
I´m expecting a big bounce from the lads, both because we have a new head coach that suits us again and just the fact we were shit last season. We have had so many yo-yo seasons in the past decade. We´ve not really gone the distance two seasons in a row since Klopp was here and we averaged around 99 points those two seasons.
Otherwise there has always been a huge drop off between seasons, last season was especially bad as I think just the rebound effect and a new head coach will give us about 15 points back. I thought a signing like Kounde or Araujo would give us another 5-6.
Then Barcola is another big signing that can add quite a few points to our season. IMO he can´t do worse than Salah last season, he might do a lot more when given the freedom to shine.
I don´t really care about the name actually, just as long as we get that progressive carrier for the transition. Remember how we all thought Brandt would be the best option for the right flank when Klopp came in instead of Salah. Diomande or Barcola it does not matter, we build players into what they can be and Barcola has to be the most exciting prospect I´ve heard about joining the club in a long time.
He is just not gonna be a bargain like Salah or Mane, or Diaz or Bobby but he got all the talent in the world to lead our attack for the next 5 years with Isak and the group of kids we already got.

8th August 2026 at 9:05 pm #252529Bingo, we’ve shifted mate on the scale (The Pull and Wow Factor!). Realistically, for everything we stand for and the offer of CL football, we’ll be having to fight competition.
You know how certain clubs behave in trying to ‘gazump’ what we want for the sole intention in trying to weaken Liverpool than actually interested in the player himself.
In other words, they’ll try and ‘steal’ off us the player we want to spite us.
So on that Basis, let’s Embrace it. Something has happened for the good. Effectively now 2 more weeks before we’re full throttle for the Big Kick Off.
I do hope for all the hustle and bustle, Barcola does Happen for us.

8th August 2026 at 9:40 pm #252534Nil the only other club in England that comes close to our stature is Manchester United actually worldwide, you still don´t see City fans. I know fans from almost every club but I have yet to meet anyone that is a City fan. Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and Aston Villa are basically still at the same level they have always been. You can compare them to Nottingham Forrest actually.
Even with Vinicius Junior when he starts exploring his options we get first dibs as a club in England, then Arsenal and nobody else.
This is the only club in England with European success, players have realized that if they want a nice cozy family life while competing for trophies they come here.
It´s toxic at every other club in the league except maybe one or two, or it will turn toxic in a season or two.
Ronald Araujo is a great fucking signing, he can rediscover his form under fans that will actually appreciate him. Barcola wants to join here because we have not relented in signing him for the past 5 years.
You guys are expecting a way worse season than the one we will have I guarantee it. Cause with Barcola I see us as contenders for the title with two other teams. Both us and City have had the yo-yo season effect, they are very likely to challenge again and so are Arsenal.
There is nobody else this season, every other side has been weakened in one way or the other except Spurs who have made a big splash in the market this summer and are likely to do more but we can´t really worry about them.
So Arsenal, City and Liverpool is gonna be the expectation and with Barcola we have a chance.

8th August 2026 at 11:08 pm #252539The only reason why I am so sure about us signing whoever is because the fans will revolt if not. We let Salah go for free and dong sogn a replacement, forget about it, it can’t happen in today’s world of social media.
FSG wanna continue to expend the brand, I got no doubt about it and by the sound of it we already have a replacement for Henry.
