Ah mac, we need cover chum if its a loan dor rb/cb. Means we can spend money elsewhere and when bradley and leoni get back, theres more cover.

I think it makes sense once hes fit to play and not injured for a chunk of the loan period.

Absolutely, Seam, this deal makes sense for us. As you have said, this gives us cover for the CB and RB spots, it also, if all goes well gives us a path way to a player that is very good on his day. The issues around his injuries is a concern though, so its a gamble worth taking IMO.

With the signing of Araujo’s signing, this must mean someone from our foreign qouta is leaving, this signing put us on the limit for the season.

I know i said yesterday was going to be big, but this wasnt the deal we all was expecting…but in the long run, it maybe a big piece of the transfer jigsaw.

Ronald Araujo, on loan, now that’s a deal that makes total sense, he’s even the Barcelona captain.

Clever from Hughes (for once) and Iraola’s influence at the club can now clearly be seen, with the first two players signed under his reign coming from La Liga.

The only issue is Araujo is quite injury prone also, even worse than Isak, missed 58 games injured in the last 3 seasons, so that’s why a loan deal is much better.

Now let’s deploy the transfer funds elsewhere on some wingers.

That’s two deals this summer, totally out of the blue, just the way I like it, keeping the media totally in the dark.

Could the same happen with our remaining signings, let’s wait and see, though it’s almost impossible to hide ALL your signings, especially the big ones, from the media.

Van Dijk played every league game last season, and no reason why he cannot do the same this season.

So now we have 4 injury-prone, or injured, centre-backs competing for one position. Comical as it seems, but we should be able to cope, as it’s highly unlikely that all four of them will be injured at the same time.

He’s being described as a CB /RB, which would indeed tick a couple of boxes for us as these are the positions where we are most in need of injury-free reinforcements. However, and maybe there’s no substance to this, but somehow it just doesn’t sit right with me to have a 6′ 3″ defender playing as a full back. There must be a reason that there aren’t many of these examples around in the top flights – something to do with speed off the mark / turning speed – but whatever, it can’t be optimal to play in that position. That said, I do recall Markus Babbel doing a good job for us there for a season. Anyway, presumably we’re getting him primarily for his CB duties which hopefully he can help see us through before Leoni and Jacquet are getting up to speed.

On paper this looks like a decent profile of a player needed.

However, why are Barca willing to loan (not sell) a former captain of their club who should be hitting his peak years?

Why are Barca fans celebrating this?

Why is the buy option only £47mil?

Strikes me as a very “moneyball” type of gamble.

Trying to get a second confirmation on this news, but one person knowing about the Barcola deal…says its off!!
I wouldnt panic too much as many are saying its still being discussed, but the final offer was too low.
Time to panic?? Lol

Ginger because of personal problems, Araujo asked for time off to deal with a personal issue and left Barcelona on his own for over a month.

Barcelona fans broke him after the Chelsea match, I think a move to Anfield might be the best possible move he could do, there is a big difference how Anfield treats players to Camp Nou.

His injury record is a bit fake cause this all got written down as a virus or something but Ronald himself came out and spoke out about it.

Maybe just a change of scenery might get him back to his best.

Then of course Bielsa overtrained him when injured with the national side. This lad has had rotten luck for well over a year now.
