The recovery time for Leoni’s ACL has been particularly disappointing. The average these days for young and fit professional players, with the best surgical techniques and under the best medical care available is about 7 – 8 months, 9 to be on the safe side. Leoni’s return is clearly going to be well above the current average and probably at least 12 months before he plays in a competitive game. Just seems that whatever can go wrong, will go wrong for us when it comes to putting out 2 dependable CBs.

My bet is still on Spence for the fullback, he does not care if he is on the left or right as long as he gets game time.

I find it it kind of funny that everyone here believes the tabloids or some IN THE KNOW individual.
I doubt a single reporter has mentioned a target we do not know about.
The only thing the reporters might be right about is the fees mentioned.
We are signing Barcola, we are looking at a number of fullbacks, FFS Trent might even rejoin the club.
The same goes for center backs.
Maybe I should just change my tune this summer and start stating that we will not sign anyone and that the club is getting sold, then maybe the forum will change it’s tune.

The dominos should start falling right now with Diomande signing and Vinicius agreeing to a contract extension, I think the Barcola deal has to happen during the weekend.

Rob, the thing is some transfer are destined to happen, we fought for Isak, we fought for Wirtz, we did the same thing with Alison and Van Dijk and some other transfers.
The fees are different but the approach remains the same, we are only in for targets that want to play for the club and I could not be happier about that.
Diomande as exciting as he is would have used the club as a stepping stone to get that transfer to Madrid, thankfully we skipped out on him, Barcola could have gone to Madrid as well but he wants to be valued.
I like the players that want to commit their best years to the club, those are the targets I value as a fan. I don´t care how much we spend, I only value that commitment from both sides.
We are not far off from a very good side that can challenge, last season was one part the yo-yo effect another part bad tactics.
When we have pace going forward, the rest of the league should be scared of us…
Then the thing is transfermarkt has been down for most of the day, so nobody is getting any info at any site, it´s mostly based from there.

Mbaye is more explosive, dynamic, unpredictable and faster than Diomande, but most importantly, he costs just a third of the price.
If he can sort out his mentality and discipline, then he could truly fulfil his potential to become a really top player, hopefully for Liverpool.

Looks like Iraola will have to use one of our youth centre-backs (Chambers, Ndiaye) if our three injured CBs don’t recover in time and we don’t sign a new CB.
What I don’t want to see is Endo or Gravenberch at CB ever again.

I think he’s still on mandatory 3 weeks holiday so wouldn’t be able to join up until Monday anyway, so announcing earlier would only serve to settle some very impatient fans.

Songman,Chambers is not a centre back. Hes a left full
Maddness if we dont get cover for cb. Leoni will not be match ready for months . No pl experience. Jaquet no pre-season games . Gomez is gomez.vvd cannot play same minutes as last season and is 35. We tried to sign guhei last year when we had gomez, konate, vvd and leobi.
Jaquet replaces konate but we badly meed a cb. Aloso a rb in an ideal world. We concede far to many gosls. Different manager now i know but if we see jones/szobo at rb or grav at cb its maddness.
I think we will bring plsyers in but cb has to be a priority. That and pace on the wings. We are stacked with midfielders and someone has to leave before someone else brought in

Assuming Barcola signs then we need to sell if we need to use no HG spots. Mbaye wouldn’t count due to his age. Maybe this is why Spence is linked? If he wasn’t home grown I doubt we’d look at him to be honest.
There’s been a bit of talk about some Spanish guy that has a very cheap buy out that is a full back but can play CB.
I still want Kounde, but we’d need to free a space first.

Maybe Iraola sees him as a centre-back, although he’s been a left-back up to now, and is quite short for a CB at 5ft 11in.
