It is getting done, that is pretty certain, we are not walking away from him. The lad has been on our radar for 4-5 seasons actually. Supposedly it was either him or Isak last season and the idea has always been that they will complement each other.

I quite like the option we have out wide with him, I am sure that Barcola and Rio will be a success out wide, same thing with Munoz, I am convinced about him as a player.

It does look like we are gonna starve Gakpo out of game time so I am 60% sure he is going, I would have expected him to become a leader in the team by now but I don´t see happening. I think we will see more arguments between him and Isak about who is leading the team.

As it seems Iraola doesnt want an out and out no6 in the traditional sense, 2 other players that we’ve been linked to previously and have yet to move are Lamine Camara of Monaco and Mamadou Camara of Lens.
Both players seem ready to take the next step up. Both a good age profile.
Sangare the more defensive of the 2 but both are great at ball recovery, good passers, press resistant and very mobile.

Shouldn’t cost the earth either if we decide to go down that route.

Those two have been spoken about for some time now, but I still think our midfield addition will be Wharton. He will cost a fair amount but we should get most of that back should MacAllister be sold, and the fact that he hasn’t renewed having less than 2 years left when Grav and Szlob has tells me that he could well be off.

But I dont think anything will happen until after we secure our main target, a rapid elite wide attacker, and that seems to be Barcola. I think this will wrap up this week or by the middle of next. If I were a betting man, which I’m not, I would wager this week.

Sean, the Liverpool FC scouts know the answer better than myself or any other fan, as illustrated by how they signed Muñoz, completely out of the blue, for a good price of only £35m, and they could do it yet again in this window.

Some examples of wingers who would most likely NOT be exorbitantly priced are Mbaye (PSG), Minteh, Fernandez-Pardo, El Mala, Rashford (?) and maybe even Rayan.

But Liverpool may not even be targeting any of the above wingers (if Barcola ends up being too expensive), and may be looking elsewhere, so let’s see what happens.

Munoz had a release clause which is why we were able to get him at that price.
All La Liga players have to have a buy out clause.

Mintehs end product is less than spectacular, to say the least, and would cost quite a bit.
Rayan has a few months in the Prem and we wouldnt be getting him “on the cheap” either especially for his limited experience.

Home grown centre back than “can” play right back (never played RB last season).
Not the tallest, decent passer, good speed.
Of an age that he wouldn’t block the pathways of Jacquet/Leoni.

Season is creeping up. We are so short.barcola doesnt even fix the right wing issue. I can see him being played there but its not his position

Right back serious concern and we have no proper backup for isak who cannot play 3 games a week

Barcola can play any position up top, he can play as a striker, left winger, right winger as a shadow striker or as a number 10.

The thing I like about him is that he is greedy for game time, he has had enough of sitting on the bench for PSG and wants to start.

I would not be surprised to see Rio starting out on the right though instead of Barcola. The thing is if we got Barcola and Munoz plus Rio we might just be really devastating in transition. We got so much pace with them.

Rio is still a child and needs his minutes managed. He also has zero defensive ability and needs to work on it before he should be considered as regular starter.

I´m pretty certain he will get a significant amount of game time and I expect the same for Munoz, I would like to give Rio a game a week as a starter, I don´t wanna overplay him but the whole of Anfield will be singing for him.

Then Munoz is also quite the prospect, there are not many faster players in Spain, there was not a single one that counted as many dribbles in one match either and I am pretty certain he was one of the top three dribblers in La Liga last season but I am not sure about that. Then he probably has the best football education I know of in Spain. He was also the one that forced a move away from Castilla to find first team football.

We know he can play more than one game a week.

With the pace we are adding to the forward line I am looking forward to seeing us play. We had zero ball carriers last season, the only one that could do it was Rio. This season we are entering into the season with three ball carriers.

It actually makes me admire Lucho a bit more for the work he did that last season of his, Salah was not carrying the ball that season either, he was picking his moments while Lucho dribbled up that left field.

I´m taking Barcola as 100% actually, something really major needs to happen to prevent him from signing. I don´t see much gametime for Gakpo happening, we know Rio is better than him. Barcola would suit us much better as well, I think Munoz will get more starts as well. Maybe I am completely wrong about him though and he just pops up as usual and gets 3500 minutes, no I can´t see it. Not with Barcola coming in.

If we sign Barcola I would argue that Gakpo would be number four. It starts with Barcola for the left wing, then Wirtz, Rio and possible Munoz as well. So number 5, maybe it´s just that I don´t see the point in investing into him anymore as he will not become better.

I´m gonna make this extra short about Rio, you heard the fans crying and singing out his name last season, every game he won MOTM. He will get a start every week this season, I am 1000% sure about it, he hardly took any time off. He went with the England camp, got his debut and another MOTM award, went home and started getting ready.

We have never seen feet move like his, he is a literal nightmare for any defender as they have no idea which way he will go. He can even point it out and they still don´t believe him. He is gonna get significant game play, we can´t hold him back this season. We can manage his minutes but the crowd is gonna be singing for him if he is on the bench.
