Ginger it makes no sense at all, here you want a left footed player and are criticizing the club because of it, then you make an example out of a right footed player. Who has 22 apps in total. You don´t want a right footed player playing that position but you are crying a river because we lost out on a right footed right winger. When we already have three right footed wingers. This is all beside the point though.
It is possible to play on the right wing as a right footed player. Just like it´s possible to play on the left wing as left footed player. There is no rule that states that we have to two inverted wingers!

Three right footed LEFT wingers.
The penny is gonna drop one of these days.

2nd September 2026 at 3:11 pm #255533Bingo, Munoz, Barcola, Gakpo and Rio can play on the right, of course they can, but combined, 99% of their careers thus far have been as left sided players. Will it work? Could do. It worked the last two weekends for Munoz, for Gakpo against Forest and it worked for years for Mo but there was a reason we were after Sarr, Minteh and possibly Mbaye. Naturally right footed, right wingers.
Not ideal but have to make it work. No other choice.

2nd September 2026 at 3:19 pm #255535I think it was their agents and you lads believed every transfer rumor that happened this summer. It´s you lads that are basing this window as a failed plan because you believe every rumor there is. Both outgoings and incomings, I don´t think there has been one poster here that has confidently called all of those late rumors out as bullshit beside me! FFS you still believe we were gonna sign players over the age of 27 with no resale value while their agents are trying to get them a money move to Turkey with way less taxes than Britain. You still believe in the ITK rumors who all turned out to be fake, nobody predicted a move the club made this summer except Barcola and that was public knowledge. Every other target came out of the blue, Hughes did amazing work for the reserves, like wow. If you go over all the u18 players signed this summer you will be amazed.

2nd September 2026 at 3:27 pm #255537I bet you a pint Rob that you can find more examples of wingers moving wings because of a new winger came in and it worked than me. Salah and Mane for example, we also used Sterling on both wings, don´t you think that Rio has played more games over there for the youth levels than just his transfermarkt history? Who moved flanks when Barnes got here? Good players adapt their game, if they are not good enough we will get rid of them. Like Munoz right now, don´t you think he is thinking about making that right forward position his after the good start he has made. Gakpo is also a sound professional and he is not about to let some kids take his place in the starting lineup. Rio is also desperate for game time and will take any game time available to him, he does not give a fuck and will adapt his game and become a better player. His England debut came on the right flank but we are supposed to listen to ginger about his future. You are having a laugh mate.

2nd September 2026 at 3:29 pm #255539I asked you why Mbaye when he is another right footed player? You wanna throw 50 million on a kid with as much experience as any other forward we have on the right flank? Instead of giving the lads a opportunity to compete for the position. I call that daft thinking!

2nd September 2026 at 3:30 pm #255540It’s like debating with a MAGA conspiracy enthusiast with you sometimes Bingo.
Well documented we had bids put in for Minteh and Sarr all of which were rejected. Now, you can believe or not and can’t force you to believe we were looking to sign a right winger. I believe we were. I’d bet my retirement fund we were. I’d add my tea bag stash to that bet too (now that is putting it all on the line).

2nd September 2026 at 3:32 pm #255542Bingo, highly and more than likely it’s predominantly gonna be Barcola and Rio on the left (add Wirtz to that too as an option) and Gakpo and Munoz on the right.

2nd September 2026 at 3:34 pm #255543Rob I can see how those meeting went or documents went from the get go, Sarr and Minteh ask for 250k a week, Hughes and co come back with a offer of around 100k and a basic explanation that they are viewed as backup players.

2nd September 2026 at 3:49 pm #255548Then of course we talked to a few forwards because Gakpo came close to leaving, I think we are all in agreement that he deserves another shot just like any other player from last season. Any potential player coming in would only be a replacement for him. We don´t need another player when you think about expected gametime. We have promised a pathway into the team for Rio, who just signed a long term contract for the very first time, did he not play on his birthday or was it the day after? Munoz also signed because he was assured of his expected gametime. Where he would fit in and what his chances of making the team are. You can´t tell me there is a difference between him on the left or right, he is just as dangerous on either flank. Cody Gakpo is also basically the same player on either flank, there is not much difference between him on either on. Except he can cross on the right and cut inside on the left. Right now we need those crosses but it´s hard to imagine his long term future at the club as we are going for a different profile of a forward than him.
Why sign a panic buy like Minteh or Sarr when he stays or complain about it. There was no way we would just buy them and add to the lineup we have. You want 4 forwards fighting for one position in the team? Cause they are all backup players or squad players. Then only Minteh is a left footed player.

2nd September 2026 at 3:50 pm #255549Whilst everyone is flipping out about the right wing issue and saying we were after x,y,z because rhey were right footed and that what the gaffer wants…why is it then Rayan (the rumoured star signing) is left footed?
Personally, the Mbaye deal was a balls up by Hughes, the others were ‘we had a go’ PR tripe knowing we wouldnt get them.

My point there bingo is in someway backing your argument, Rayan is left footed and the way Iriola wants to play, so the alleged moves for Minth and Sarr may just have been PR….who knows.
Its strange to think a manger had his wingers inverting to now wanting out-and-wingers
Personally, I have a feeling Barcola will play on the right.

2nd September 2026 at 4:16 pm #255554Maybe, I have not seen our strongest lineup play together ever right now, there is only one boss and that is Iraola.
We did not see our strongest lineup play once last season because of injuries and there is argument we will not see our strongest lineup until Ekitike shows up again.
So it would be really good to see Isak, Barcola and Wirtz out there at the same time. I would like to see Munoz or Rio back them up as that gives us a bit of information about what the future actually looks like.

2nd September 2026 at 4:23 pm #255555I don´t think Iraola wants everyone inverting, like for example if we get that pace down the right flank with a right footed player while everyone else is inverted that cross becomes more dangerous as we will have three options already in the box, plus a midfielder from deep.
Barcola can play anywhere, he is that good but we just need to find his best position and stick to that on the wings but we need someone to deliver that cross. Frimpong is not doing it, neither is Kerkez but I think they need to sit more back in this system than our previous fullback did.
This is not a system made for the fullbacks to deliver in the attacking third. We have a extra forward right now and we need to stretch the field to create space in one way or the other.
Wirtz had a excellent game last time out, he was really unlucky with that offside, he had another great chance when he got a header on goal. The cross was just a bit to high for him to control the ball properly. Then he got the assist with a right footed winger on the right. After telling Munoz he would spot his run into the box.
