Maybe, I like this policy of only going for targets that want the club. We could have signed Djed Spence, Kounde and a few others but we are committed to the players that want to be here. Take for example Araújo, it’s a valid assist from Nunez actually. Because we treat our players right, we give the players that committ game time and top contracts. Araújo wanted the club, we signed him because of that.
Btw the only calculation you have made ginger this season I got A problem with is your prediction for the right forward. As we will have Munoz, Rio and Gakpo there despite them not being left footed. I think the speed and ball carrying ability will favor the youngsters over Gakpo.
As I think Iraola is willing to sacrifice a player for his system and that player being Gakpo.

1st September 2026 at 8:06 pm #255458To quote Sean from earlier…
“All the players who you mention to play on the right ate better on the left which is their actual position. Is it really that hard to understand for some.”

1st September 2026 at 8:24 pm #255459I think having non HG players with squad status of anything below first team has screwed us and shown very poor mamangement from the recruitment team. Endo, Chiesa, play very little but take up non HG spots when their minutes could be covered by a u21 player.
Now we are lacking in a number of areas but unable to buy except for u21s or home grown, somewhat limiting our market.

1st September 2026 at 8:33 pm #255461Overall agree with those sentiments Bingo. We fans can be suckers and in nature most sets of fans are from watching what other clubs are doing.
We’ve done pretty good this window. If Bradley pulls off, then the supporters and crowd will be lifted. Anfield’s not felt that sort of vibe for a while and last season let’s be honest was a lame duck.
We’re just a bit smarter to not impulse buy. I’m personally open for us signing older players for the short-term but it’s a matter of whether that would happen.
Hopefully new Sporting Directors appointed for us soon. Maybe something in the January Window.

1st September 2026 at 9:00 pm #255462That’s exactly my thoughts Threeps.
We’ve fucked ourselves here.
Some markets stay open past tonight (Turkey, Saudi) in order to get rid of Endo, Chiesa etc but does anyone want them?

1st September 2026 at 9:07 pm #255464An 18yr old, for a position we are heavily stocked, who has played 13 top flight games for circa £30mil.

1st September 2026 at 10:14 pm #255470Camara to Chelsea for 47m ish. We’ve lost two mids in Jones and Elliott. Not replenished the engine room.
This WILL bite us in the arse.

1st September 2026 at 10:52 pm #255472we got the same squad as last season, everyone of of youth prospects have gotten better. Like more than 80% of the forum does not think Munoz or Rio will feature on the right, the only reason why is stats. Those two and Gakpo will play on the right because there is no other option for them to get gametime. It´s that simple.

1st September 2026 at 11:00 pm #255474I sincerely mean that you have been duped, like there is no trusting anyone of you lads, this window as you know it, everyone here has fallen for the next ITK rumor. Without a single rumor becoming reality, you have moaned and bitched about every incoming and every outgoing without being right about the window once. !!!!
That is how stupid you lot sound right now, I´m supposed to be the one that goes off on FSG or management but no, all you lads made sure I could not say a word against management.

1st September 2026 at 11:10 pm #255476This summer we’ve lost…
Jones, Elliott in mid -2
Mo up front, added Munoz and Barcola +2
Robbo, Konate added Jacquet, Araujo and recalled Kostas +1
Keepers as wasTwo players down in mid. Yes we have Nyoni and recalled McConnell but we had them (officially) last season. Both, just a handful of appearances. Elliott and Jones had experience. We’ve 7 mids on our roster – Mac, Wirtz, Szobo and Grav all first choice, rest have hardly played including Endo.
We needed a Sangare/Camara type player to help carry the load. Equate it to a working deck on a fishing boat. You wouldn’t want to be understaffed there. The midfield is the same. When the going gets tough you get found out in the middle of the park. Overuse, over-reliance and we’re cooked.
We also needed a RB. Bradley a long way off yet and Frimpong is, well, Frimpong and his next muscle injury, you know, ain’t far away.
We’re trying to fake it until we make it.

1st September 2026 at 11:16 pm #255478Largely a very disappointing window. 1.5/5 grade.
Lost legends for free.
Kept deadwood.
Didn’t manage to fill the most obvious gaps.Positive we’ve got an upgrade on lw and muñoz looks positive! Jacquet was last window.
Time for Schmadtke comeback!

1st September 2026 at 11:56 pm #255480On the evidence of this Window above all that’s vivid is the scale reaching new heights. If one certain club can strike three 100 million deals, something has changed. There is lots of money knocking about in this industry.
I have my moans and what could have been better, but at the same time, I’ve also lived and grew up in a time like for example 1993, where we would make 2 signings. There was still excitement.
If there is finger pointing, it should be in the direction of the top and the way the club has been managed from the entire level of recruitment.
There have been lots of other factors undeniably and circumstances. Let’s hope we are on the right track and pull in one direction.

2nd September 2026 at 1:37 am #255485So actual numbers with *injuries (and sold/bought players) are:
Goalkeepers +3
Defence (*Bradley, Leoni) -1
Midfield -2
Forwards (*Ekitike) 0I call that fucking precarious especially with Alisson, Frimpong and Isak added to that from a most likely to be injured perspective.
Unacceptable probably a better word. Unacceptable for a team that were crowned champions of England just 15 months ago.

2nd September 2026 at 4:42 am #255486Elliot didn’t play any minutes last season so no need to moan about replacing him. Jones did, but Nyoni can replace him. Yes we had Nyoni last season but he’s a year older and that makes a difference at his age.
I’m not worried about the midfield numbers, I’m worried about their profiles. All our senior midfielders like to get forward, and none of them are particularly strong defensively. That’s why we needed someone else in midfield, not to replace anyone.
Last season we didn’t recruit on the left wing because apparently we didn’t want to hinder Rio. This summer we recruited two left wingers. Do now we have 4 senior left wingers including Rio and zero on the right. That is shockingly bad recruitment especially given we knew about Salah since March.
Right back is also a major concern.

2nd September 2026 at 6:21 am #255488We were actually the biggest net spenders this summer because we failed to sell anyone of note and there lies a big problem that’s been around for a while.
Players that could be easily replaced by u21 and free up non HG spots like Chiesa and Endo are still here. MacAllister who has less than 2 years on his contract and next summer his value will be low and he’s probably already on contact about a free move.
We have for s long time put players on higher wages than their talent deserves and then struggle to move them on as no one can match their wage requirements. Chiesa being a good example.
Whilst the transfer window is judged on who you buy, we were restricted because of the non HG spot issue, so our failure is in who we didn’t sell. The only senior squad player we sold was Jones who of course didn’t take a non HG spot.

2nd September 2026 at 8:38 am #255489It’s a relief that it’s all over now. The manager and the coaches have to earn their corn now! Back to solid defence and midfield with fast transitions and balls into Isak. Bring it on! I’m also interested in Wirtz as false 9 with Barcola and Munez ahead of him

2nd September 2026 at 9:00 am #255491In a way I’m glad we didn’t make any panic buys last minute. Any transfer activity should be done before and at the start of the window.
Look what’s happened to Everton. Sold players and then couldn’t get anyone in.
Let’s see how these next months pan out. I know January transfer is not the best, but we might make some signings then.
