We’re steamrolling these guys, but we’re not actually taking any shots!

Good decision on the substitution by Klopp. Just not happened for Firmino tonight.

Now I realise just how much we miss Gomez. Matip just looks lost. We need reinforcements in the summer.

Better second half on the whole with aggression and more control, but our heads at the same time have dropped when it comes to restoring our lead.

Lallana’s actually had a pretty good game and tracks back too. The problem away from home is needing actually a Milner or a Wijn.
We’re lucky not to be falling behind.
Gotta sort this one out and grind out a win.

Keita and Fabinho actually have worked better when together and Fabinho’s in his natural position.
Good to see Milner back. I’m actually glad ‘sideways’ Henderson’s been dropped. Lallana has it in him to track back.
It’s been a long wait for a game so can’t wait!

Mak, you’re right from a Central Defence Pairing.
Gomez is genuinely a great reader of events and is hugely missed. Upsetting that he had a few more weeks in healing. Just hope he can return on the circuit. The other guys all in all need to rally and step it up.
We cannot allow ourselves to capitulate.

Mikus, agreed on all of that mate.
We were and have been criticised in the past in our approach and philosophy of just ‘gung-ho’ and no ‘Plan B’.
This season round, we’ve shown maturity and a measure in our overall outcome of a game.
So, for those (maybe me being one of them to an extent) wondering why we not thrashed a team 6-0 and ‘only’ 1-0? Well what was that game like?
Coutinho you are right, we haven’t replaced and it’s affected us. This brings in the thought and point of just a an orthodox Central Midfield in Oxlaid that you have to say has been a big void for us. It’s been in evidence at times scrimping and saving, but above all, HUGE CREDIT TO JURGEN KLOPP. I remain in every belief, faith and optimism.
Cheers

Mikus,
like yourself I’ve placed forward facts/stats in good faith ahead of our game.
That’s essentially all. I don’t know if they have any correlation at all to qualify comparison to those years you’ve stated.
To a degree, some form of credence due there was a repetition in outcomes delivering the same/similar pattern of results from circumstances. E.g. a lot was made big some years back in Liverpool not finding WIDTH. I feel for quite some time, we’ve addressed that.
The Defence for a number of years has been critical; Check out the Photo of our winning team circa 1990. That should illustrate and outline on that particular example representing defence and defensive midfield: Hansen, Hussain, Gillespie, Nicol, Whelan, Venison, Burrows, Staunton, Molby, McMahon…..
‘A’ Formula to formulate for a number of years has been a struggle for us from Souness being in charge to build a ‘Hardman Team’ failing miserably to softie softies and lads just doing what they want, under Roy Evans.
Gerard Houllier in installing Stephen Henchoz and Sami Hyppia reinstalled that solidarity.
The rest has been a pattern of history as you know. We reach up to a point in the expectation of the next level and we just collapse. That is us.
I do believe though, those efforts were never Tracing Paper, just an experience that needed just a nudge or two to get over the Finishing Line.

Dropped points in Total:
Defeat: Manchester City at The Ethiad
Drawn: Arsenal, Manchester City (Home) Chelsea, and Leicester City (Home)
In fairness to us, we’ve been solid at the back to concede just 14 goals.
Not anything deemed as easy by a long chalk, but I feel we have it in us to get though the finishing line.
Looking forward to it though, that is for sure 😀
Come On The Redmen!!!!!

Nine @ 8:06, remember I think around last week on the back of your closing sentence how in one of threads we talked about Jose’s best signings.
I don’t know if these were by him mate, but just wanted to say as a fan, really enjoyed Claudio Pizzaro, Yuri Zirchov and Juliano Belletti. Even if they weren’t around for that long, they ignited the team and the league – some good times back then mate.
Cheers 🙂

Nine, you’re right mate.
Personally, if I was a United fan, I wouldn’t underestimate at all the job Phelan is doing and to me is essential to the Dynamics. Ferguson has a new role reinstalled casually (it seems in reality), but he’s obviously worked with Phelan before and knows him for a number of years as Phelan was once a player.
The Reservation in bringing somebody else in like Poch or Zidane is that they’re likely to bring their own Backroom Team.
It can make a big difference overall to the whole philosophy, everyday routine and communication.
Personally, I would just leave the set up like it is and give Ole the full reigns in the Summer.
Cheers

Nine/Adlab,
you notice though Gents, we’re citing One Striker out of a team than a pair and in the now modern culture of the Prem, I don’t see a lot of Teams employing 2 out and out Strikers.
Ours referred to as the ‘Front 3’ is an idea stolen from Barcelona ha!
Our 2013/14 team employed a 4-4-2 of Suarez and Sturridge.
Jesse Lingard is probably the closest to be pairing up with Rashford if Lakaku’s not on the pitch, though I would make the point in forging the 2 together as part of a 4-4-2 if I was Ole Solksjaer.
Something for a number of years Fergie was accustomed to.
Cheers

Ed, in fairness, quite a number of players seem more relaxed and the key being having the freedom to express themselves. Seem a more friendlier bunch of players too and respectful. Matic is naughty though!
A lot of credit though seemingly should be given to Mike Phelan who is providing a wealth of experience and guidance.
I don’t really know the background of what happened with Cardiff, but so far, this has been a happy homecoming for Ole a great fit in a lot being restored from what was lost since 2013.
Cheers
P.S. Slight bias in him being a Liverpool fan ha 😛

And huge credit to the Premier League is Sergio Aguero. Just a Fabulous servant for Man City. He still deliver at TOP LEVEL considering the number of years he’s been at the club. A real testament.
