These 20 minutes have flown and credit to Everton.
I keep noticing the same pattern in the Man City using the left-side to pose a threat and basically, they always try and find pockets of space and bag a goal from close range. This is what Everton need to watch out for.
To be fair up to now, they’ve done well to withstand City’s pressure.

Three P’s, tend to agree on both your posts. Nine’s explanation from yesterday on the point of Momentum and the way we’ve played of late is what I think is the ‘mechanism’ that’s inflicting doubt.
This time last Wednesday we were in a slightly different position to what we find ourselves in, those the facts as they stand simply would mean on the back of tonight that Man City would have played a game more.
It is a different experience from 2013/14 because that team was all under Brendan Rodgers and although Klopp has experience of winning in Germany, this is a new experience and he himself I’m sure aware that a lot of this is about holding the pressure together and just getting over the finishing line.
Keep The Faith Mate.

Strong line up by Marco Silva and he’s reshuffled the Defence. Bernard and Walcott a threat, but the glue and a welcome back to Gueye.
Would expect naturally Man City to return to Top Spot – almost 2 months since we occupied it and it was good while it last.
Oh Well π

The facts realistically suggest from the current table that 3 teams have the chance to finish 1st.
I’m not entirely sure on the meaning on a Pendulum swinging or “it’s theirs for the taking”. So is that implying the team currently occupying 1st will just decline?
Every team goes through a bit of a slump over the course of the season. If you take Leicester’s example they developed a gap of points between Spurs, but almost allowed them to catch up.
I think the team occupying 1st are in the ascendancy. But of course it’s the challenge of now maintaining that with 13 games left. I never bought into the furore from the media. They want their headlines and their column inches, nothing else. They have very little respect for this Sport.
Manchester City have a great array of players and very strong depth overall. But one should never be put of in aspiring to achieve. There’s always that belief, hope and confidence.

Seems we’re just going round and round in circles with this.

Oz, it seems you’re happier than when we last spoke. I think this conversation being exercised to a fair bit, I do feel we have been a little hard on ourselves given our position.
We are still in the lead so whatever’s took place recently just needs to be pit at the back our minds.
We’ll come good mate and at the ver least be very close to the finishing line. It’s never about who is proved right or wrong on here but ultimately about an aspiration to succeed. Chin up mateβ½οΈ?

Oz, don’t take this the wrong way mate, but seems your mind’s made up even before the fixtures are out.
It seems to give the impression and set a precedent for millions of other Pool supporters to either settle for second best long term or simply don’t bother at all.
Squad depth compared to Manchester City has been a challenge and we know they can ‘stockpile’ better than anyone, but it doesn’t and shouldn’t erase total hope and optimism. You can still try.
We’re actually 3 points ahead with same amount of games played. I expect City to leapfrog us, but that’ll likely to be restored on Sat.
Those 3 points we can use up with a afforded defeat to United which might be likely, and it’s likely at some point, we’d lose another game.
We have so far done exceptionally well to come this far. Supporters like me feel aggrieved there’s no Silverware to show for our progress under Klopp and that’s why we feel really disheartened.
But never have we thrown the towel or given up. If you’re in the dressing room with the team, you’d do everything to gee them up with hope and optimism.
Even if we’re on even keel with same points, but better goal difference, it would only take City to win narrowly one game and Liverpool to win by 4 or 5 the next, and that would change.
We’re not incredibly far away from reaching full strength, just need to get through February. I know yesterday was a set back, but nothing yet has been decided. It’s still in our hands.

Oz, forgot to add, with you on Leeds too and would love to see them back in the Top Flight. I would agree in some ways, this league is a bit too samey, and the same teams are the only ones discussed and nobody else.

Mak, @ 12:20, don’t know about the other Pool fans on here, but I think you Sean and I might be all in a similar age bracket.

Oz, some fair points there mate relating to resources.
Over almost a 10 year period of investment, we’ve seen growth with FSG. I think once Ian Ayre’s left though, things have moved in a better direction for us and we are and have spent big money; e.g. Kieta, Van Dijk, Allison, Fabinho.
It is a gradual process you’re right there. And Klopp as far as I’m concerned is delivering progress. The challenge and the frustrations is the obvious Silverware to show for our progress and of course, the elusive Premier League Title.
We must have done something right to be close to winning it in recent seasons, but clearly just not enough.
This is still the best League and even better experience from recent seasons. We just need to be on the right end for once in actually winning something. The beauty of this league compared to previous decades is that there is more hope of teams causing an upset when on paper, it looks completely out of the question.
Plenty more games left. I think once the CL kicks back in next week, that will do us some good. We exited too early out of the FA Cup, so we only have had domestic football and so the spotlight on us is accentuated even greater.
We should get back to winning ways this weekend. Lets
hope in the meantime a certain Everton can lend us a helping hand._____________________________

Gi,
mate, it’s levels of expectations – always has been supporting Liverpool. We’ve gone too many seasons without any Silverware and just underachieving. Fed up regularly nowadays in settling for a bridesmaid.
I get where Mak comes from – felt like that last Weds when we played Leicester.

Maybe coming across as Violins, but no Gomez and no Trent along with no proper cover makes our life harder.
I don’t know what exactly went on in the first half, but in the second half, Kieta and Fabinho were defensive and more of a box-to-box.
We’re in need of a Top Striker or an Attacking Midfielder willing to fire the Shots.

Mak @ 10pm, mate had over 10 years in recent times of it on Forums – remember 08/09?
We’re unlucky for the fair share of luck around on this planet.
I’d feel for Klopp more than anyone if we went another season without Silverware.

Gi, good call on Spurs – said this a few weeks ago.
Teams go through spells in dropping points, though City this time last season were practically flawless!

It’s certain sections of the media that get carried away. At the same time, there are our own supporters out there that maybe feel forced (for their own reasons they only know) in predicting negative outcomes of a match.
There’s got to be some form of optimism otherwise, we may as well give up and not bother with this.

Yeah, you’re right. Just the nature of the beast mate. It’s harder too when we’ve not for so many years been in that position in knowing how to get over the line.
Remember initially in 93/94, Blackburn challenged United but couldn’t see through, but did get there the season after.

Not enjoyed really some of the evening games and different days to the norm of Saturday and Sunday. Even if City win, we can restore our lead if we beat Bournemouth.
Hopefully Chelsea on Sunday can help us.

Well played!
I actually enjoyed that as tactical changes paved a better second half.
Just shows none of these games are easy. Origi coming so close and Allison nearly giving me a heart-attack at the other end.
We’re 3 points ahead, but will probably lose our Top Spot since holding it from early December.
