Jim, every single goal is due to a defensive mistake ?. If there were no defensive mistakes, there would be no goals. We were poor but there’s no denying the character needed to fight back from 2-0 down to win, more so when we’re not at the races.

Chucky, as Mav suggests, the predicted column counts all your predictions whether or not the games have finished. You have predicted 2 games from next week’s fixtures. Not sure if there’s a way to fix it, as it slightly skews your avg points but at least you know why now!

5th March 2018 at 10:25 pm in reply to: Week 29 footy (Including predictions- Ars v Man C Included) #17262He was poor Jim. He’s too good a player to play like that for too long so I’m not concerned, though. He’ll come good. He just needs to settle into the side.

5th March 2018 at 10:04 pm in reply to: Week 29 footy (Including predictions- Ars v Man C Included) #17256Couldn’t agree more Jim. For Jose to have got this average side into second place shows just how poor the league is below City this season. It’s a credit to Jose that only recently has any side started to threaten us for second place. Hopefully next season you’ll have a bit of competition for the league!

5th March 2018 at 9:58 pm in reply to: Week 29 footy (Including predictions- Ars v Man C Included) #17253Lol Jim. Makes two of us mate. I haven’t seen that Pogba for a few weeks! Way too inconsistent at the moment. He has the ability to be amongst the best in the world but shows it all too rarely at the moment.
Well that is some character again from this Utd side. Not an easy place to go to, Palace, and it was never going to be pretty. To have got two wins from Chelsea and Palace while playing as bad as we have is massive. Now onto Saturday which will be the toughest of the lot. Exactly the kind of game Liverpool will thrive in. Draw would be a decent result for us at the moment

Can’t disagree with any of that Nine. I think a lot of clubs wish they had a young Drogba now! As for Morata, I do still think he’ll come good. He looked a great buy at the beginning of his Chelsea career and there’s no reason why he can’t recapture that form. What I said certainly wasn’t intended as a criticism of Morata. I just mean that, so far, and in my point of view, I think Lukaku has proved to be the safer bet of the two. Still way too early though to know who will turn out to be the better buy in the long run

I’m also not quite sure what point is being made in regards to articles comparing Lukaku’record against the top sides with others in the league. So, we learn that Aguero and Kane have better records against the top sides. Could we have realistically got either as an alternative? Definitely not.
It would be like having an article comparing Hazard’s goalscoring record to Messi and Salah’s and then coming to the conclusion that Hazard is not good enough for Chelsea because there happen to be better records out there.

I’ve yet to hear a suggestion of who Utd should have signed instead of Lukaku who was both available and a guarantee of goals in the PL, while not costing a Neymar type fee. The only realistic alternative would have been Morata, and so far, I’d say we look to have got by far the better bang for our buck there.
For all the comments about how Utd should have been able to get better, I’d have expected a huge list of alternatives by now!
Is he as good as Kane? Of course not, but even Utd can’t pay £300mil or whatever Levy would have wanted for him. Benzema, Lewandowski, Cavani? No thanks, all too old. Griezman? Not convinced he would be that great in the PL and we did try for him but got knocked back. Anyone else?

I haven’t seen anyone say they love him Jim, far from it! He’s not an easy person to love but anyone who can win trophies with our bunch of average prima donnas is alright by me! If it was a one off game, I couldn’t possibly advocate Klopp as he has such a terrible record in finals. Pep needs a year or so to get his team playing the way he wants them, so I’m actually half tempted to go for Big Sam ?

We’ve not been playing well for a few weeks Sean which makes the win even more important. It’s a massive show of character to win a game like that when we’re in the middle of a poor run of performances. Wins like that can be the springboard for a resurgence in form

Cheers nine. Commiserations to the Chelsea lads. Will take a scrappy win like that all day long. So refreshing to see someone like McTominay really starting to establish himself in the team. Who says young players can’t flourish under Jose?!

Evening all
I don’t like the idea of censoring topics so I won’t forbid discussion of TT, though as I’ve mentioned previously on here, I’d personally prefer TT talk was avoided.

24th February 2018 at 10:45 am in reply to: The Summer Transfer Window – Early days but important #16441The fact you made apparent in bold means we at least agree that it’s only worth noting the difference if we believe the paper talk about the strop. I think most take the paper stories with a pinch of salt these days so it’s hard to draw any conclusions on that point. I suppose at least if Tom Daly is playing badly, he always gives you a chance of winning a penalty! When Pogba plays poorly, and put of position, he offers little to the team.
I do hope that he starts playing him a bit further forward again though, otherwise, I feel we’ll only see the best of Pogba when he moves to another club. There’s an enormously talented player in there somewhere who we’ve only seen in patches so far
