Weekend Football – Gameweek 11 Sparklers and Fireworks :-)

Was looking forward to watching this game, switched off after the first red. VAR is a joke. It should have been a pen but never a red. There is a huge difference between other comparisons to players going over the ball in the Romero one and that is the guy isn’t trying to tackle, he’s not even trying to win the ball, he’s simply kicking the ball. He even makes perfect contact with the ball with the correct part of the foot, never went in studs up, his natural follow through (which is every player’s natural follow through) exposes the studs as the pendulum nature of kicking the ball does. It is unfortunate that the Chelsea player was in that position to take his follow through. Not every dangerous situation in football is a foul, nor a sending off. Sometimes it’s just unfortunate. This is one of those in my opinion. Wouldn’t have been that annoyed if it was just a pen, but never a red.
Switched off after I saw that rubbish!

Spurs went for broke. Very entertaining but I think Chelsea should have been well clear earlier than they were. Compare and contrast the start of the game to the end of the game.

Thought Ange was supposed to be thr next big thing? Don’t think I’ve ever seen such terrible tactics when going not one but two men down. Even still at 1-1 he had a crazy high line and I think if Chelsea has better quality forwards it could have been 8 or 9.

All the moaning about Oliver but I think all the big decisions were correct. We all know Adlab has an agenda against him but not sure what anyone else expects? It was probably one of the hardest matches to ref and I think he did as good as anyone could with such madness going on around him.

Ye agree threeps got all the decisions right but the constant stopping of games is horrendous

The waiting around to see a goal b given. You can’t celebrate a goal now. It’s ruined the game as a spectacle and decisions are talked about more now then ever

Mikus, I’d have Ange down as more of a Bielsa than a Rodgers. One of those managers who play nice football and, for some reason, have a bit of a cult following but are prone to getting absolutely torn apart at times. Agree about the ref. Thought he did a decent job considering everything. Chelsea were getting in behind way before the reds started coming.

Jackson celebrating probably the worst ever hattrick with a Ronaldo celebration was a bit cringey too 😂

Nike. Oliver is always enveloped in controversy and imo wants to be centre stage.
I disagree that he is the best we have, mind you I generally think the standard is worse than ever.
Last night before all the nonsense he should have spoken to the captains and managers and warned them. He should have booked the cheats and divers so they were on yellows close to being sent off .
Twenty one extra minutes is total nonsense and ruining the game.
The onfield ref should be in charge not VAR who is watching TV coverage.
We have that other poor ref on Saturday..Anthony Taylor. Another who wants to be centre stage.

PS I’d scrap VAR except for offside, provided they change the rule. Getting rid of nonsense handball decisions.
