I think it was a penalty. Red card is harsh but it is questionable as to whether it was deliberate.
Anybody actually know the rules? I think if it prevents a goal it is red but not sure.

Mak, you went from odds on to lose to odds on to win in a split second. Liverpool came out of blocks in force and would have blown away 99.9% of teams on this planet in 20 mins. We took control and we should have gone 2 up before that Henderson chance mate.
We go in half time 1 up with 11 v 11 it’s odds against you mate you know it, you are now odds on to win because of a hand ball and sending off mate, not the balance of play.
Just my emotional immediate reaction in anticipation of you lot scoring a few against 10 men in the second and anfield cheering like they just defeated the taliban! Enjoy it mate

Well, yes but where is the luck? We were definitely going to score. You are talking as if we needed the penalty, we didnt. In fact the penalty gave you the chance of remaining at 1-0 and that was the only way it could have happened.

You weathered it extremely well in fairness to you lads. I still think our form for that spell counts though and you may have taken control but we started to swing it back in our favour before the incident.
I’m not at all denying the quality of Chelsea, I just don’t see any real argument that we were lucky. we were going to score from open play. its not like someone was lightly fouled in the box.

Red card? I guess the problem is can the ref judge whether it was deliberate? If not deliberate, you can maybe say it was clumsy. But then when you’re last ditch defending you’re going to be clumsy. So, it is perhaps harsh from one point of view, but it’s one of those rare events that can just happen sometimes.

It is harsh on the player, for the reason i stated before but re member that were denied a definite goal. How would you feel about it if Salah missed the penalty? Now imagine that it was Sterling. A red card and a missed penalty for a definite goal illegally saved would be pretty shit for Liverpool.
