Utd were much better side in first half. Can see spurs being thorn apart at times. They are wide open but thatโ€™s dreadful from utd 2nd half. Terrible goals to concede. Enjoyable game.

Anthony is not a right winger. Cannot cross with his right. He is also too interested in tricks. He had an easy ball to play to Garnacho, but decided to piss about with it and ended up losing possession. Looks like a school kid trying to impress.

Garnacho is better from the bench.

Mount doesnโ€™t fit the formation. We really need a second player to play next to Casemiro. No idea why we didnโ€™t sign telimans on a free.

Too many problem areas for us, and too much weight on Hojlundโ€™s shoulders.

Surprisingly quiet about the penalty decision I noticed Adlab ๐Ÿ˜„. You’re usually all over pen decisions ๐Ÿ™„

Yeah ed/Alfie, you are right, there is a lot resting on your young new no.9. Balance in midfield not right and I think your fullbacks on either side are below standard for you too.

Ed, good point re Anthony and mount. They are his buys and he will play them week in week out.

Utd should be buying superstars. Instead they seem to be trying to build a nice technical team as far as I can see.

Shaw I really rate, Lucky, albeit he does have dips in form from time to time which he needs to cut out. RB is a massive problem but not one we’re able to fix this summer. Someone else said on twitter and it’s spot on. This Utd side who struggled to score goals last season went into this one without a fit striker. There’s something wrong there. I feel for Hojlund now coming in with this much pressure to carry. It’ll make or break him.

PS. Not sure that Mount is a top player. He is very good but maybe not a great player, although I wish we had him at the moment.

I just donโ€™t get Anthony at all Alfie. Like 86m is just madness. He plays all the time. He as average as they come.

Rashfird would have at a field day on the left tonight. The spurs full back tuck in so there was space

Lol Ed, ye adlab wonโ€™t mention that handball. Utd had some great chances first half. Credit to spurs who played well 2nd half but they get well beaten at times with the way they play.

Fortunate that Adlab. You’re quick to spot any decisions we get! Clear handball from thr Spurs player not given.

That I don’t agree with Mikus. We’ve done that in Di Maria, Falcao, Sanchez, Ronaldo. There’s no secret Ten Hag wanted Kane this summer and we’ve ended up overpaying for a young Danish striker who wasn’t really starting for Atalanta who is now expected to save our season. I said a long time ago that I wanted Ten Hag, but on the premise that his arrival coincided with that of a director of football. That we still have the suits making the decisions is bizarre and Ten Hag can’t be expected to be chief scout, head coach and the rest all rolled into one.

Well yes I agree Ed. Ten Hag is effectively seeming to be chief scout, Head coach and the rest all in one. But you’ve got to have some top quality in there and the right DoF in to bring the right top players in.

But in that case is there not an argument that given the type of football Ten Hag plays he needs top top quality to make it work well in this league. He doesn’t seem to me to be a galvaniser in the way Postecoglou or Klopp seem to be who could make a team better than the sum of its parts.

Didn’t Klopp famously not want Salah? Top coaches, which I still believe Ten Hag is, simply can’t do every job and where Utd lack compared to other top clubs is that we’ve gone from the board making all the decisions to the manager making all the decisions, which is a throwback to the Ferguson days and is a strategy which has become outdated. There is zero football knowledge above Ten Hag which means that, when the system eventually fails Ten Hag, he will be gone and we’ll be left with a Ten Hag team with nobody knowing what to do with it. Rinse and repeat.

I think recruitment will be the smallest of the sticks that will be used to beat Ten haag,if he persists with this midfield, and they continue to get over run.

Didn’t make sense on paper and looks even worse in practice.

25 minutes and not one chance made. Lots of possession but no end product. Same as against Seville in midweek.
This shows the genius of KDB
