My big disappointment yesterday from a Chelsea perspective was that the line up had but two changes to it from the Atletico Madrid game Luiz because he was suspended and Rudiger in place of Moses with Azpi moved forwards to right wing back which was the only real tactical change to the line up seemingly to take some of the sting out of City’s left hand side.
But if you didn’t know any different you wouldn’t have believed that Chelsea were the same side who played Atletico Madrid on the Wednesday.
I can’t make out as to whether that was because City were so good or because as I suggested earlier this week playing City after the AM game and not returning to London until the early hours of Thursday morning could see Chelsea fatigued.
Conte is taking a lot of stick on the Chelsea site but I got his selection of Azpi at wing back and understood with the Morata injury why he didn’t go with Michy straight away because we were already struggling with retaining possesion and using Michy for an hour would probably have only added to that.
Unfortunately the loss of Morata sealed our fate albeit that City looked the more likely winner prior to that and Willan has been struggling for form all season and personally I would have gone for Pedro rather than Willian.
The strategy seemed to be to try and contain City and hit them on the break and after the Morata injury we struggled with that and in truth 1 nil flattered us.
City are great in forward mode and I would be surprised if they don’t go on and win the title yesterday I thought they really looked like a Pep team.
