The technology in principle really could be beneficial, but the whole usage of it during a game needs to be systematically organised.
Re the incident from the Bundesliga, that penalty could have been taken in the second half as part of a carry over.
Even so, there needs to be a ‘cut off’ point or a time limit on investigations, otherwise, the people running VAR will have some kind of a ‘back-dated’ goal to give or a penalty to award which would just be a point blank farce.

Brian, I totally agree with you.
The point I was trying to make is that with VAR we seem to be all over the place at the moment and making hard work of something we could really benefit from and something that in years to come could be valuable and an asset in our game.
If the officials sat down and put together something systematic with Club Managers and trialled and sought proper feedback, we’d be moving positively forward with this and making progress.

Goal line technology has helped improve the game. I dont doubt in any way shape or form that VAR will aid football… Sadly, this roll out phase is nothing more than a product test and will be bloody painful until the parameters are set on where and how it can be used. So that could mean a real penalty shooting competition at half time. Better than a man spinning around a pole and killing the mascot with his shot.
