Pagan, I hear you, but would it really hit BT’s subscription rates if they let these friendly competitions go? Just strikes me as greed. If anything, if they did show these games on a free to air channel, it might entice people to then start a subscription. But they just seem so paranoid about protecting the perception that all football now has a price to the point that no window, no matter how small, can be allowed in. (I know they showed the finals via youtube last season, but when I tried it on my TV, the quality was awful even though Broadband is pretty good near me). Be interesting if UEFA do anything about the continuingly poor viewing figures this season.

I think I said it recently! Its ALL about money.
Sterling possible boot deal ….£100m? Ludicrous. I do Citizens Advice as a volunteer adviser(mainly debt clients) some dont have enough to eat, some cant pay their rent and we waste billions on stupid political ideology and some are paid fotunes for kicking a ball and then like Dybala they worry about image rights.Still looking forward to the game. Dont discount Chelsea!

Adders… in Dybala’s very slight defence, the problem wasn’t with him, it was with a company based in Malta who bought the “rights” from him years ago, and who were apparently asking Spuds for around 70m for them (on top of what Spuds would be paying in transfer fees and wages to Juve). Dybala doesn’t actually own his rights…
(Of course, don’t understand quite whole this “rights” thing works myself, but there you go… )

Mikus, although I agree with you regarding free to air matches, and Adlab, most of us would love to be on £200k a year let alone a week, the only problem is the broadcasters are then giving away something that others are paying for, which isn’t really fair on them, especially pubs who pay an awful lot of money in order to recoup it through beer sales…Pagan
