9th August 2017 at 4:39 pm #3190I think We can improve on last season but it really does depend on who We can bring in in the coming weeks,Salah has been great in pre season but We do still lack a bit of quality in Defence and if Coutinho does go then We will definitely need to add some quality to the Midfield otherwise it could be a struggle to maintain CL Status.

9th August 2017 at 4:47 pm #3191AnonymousBarca may move onto another target now but if Coutinho reaches his potential in a year or 2, Barca or even Real will be back. That’s something we’re forgetting with all the circus, Coutinho isn’t at his peak yet. yes he’s 25 but he’s still got developing to do and Klopp is a developer.
It could be a delayed announcement but my gut says the deal is dead for at least another year.
And thanks for the welcome, good to be here.

9th August 2017 at 4:53 pm #3194Mr Mak,I don’t think Coutinho will go this summer due to the injury to Lallana,Maybe next summer he will go but can’t see it just yet.

9th August 2017 at 4:54 pm #3195Anonymous“We do NOT get pass the potential to real contender stage by selling players like him. Suarez was the last straw. Anymore and FSG will have hell with the fans globally.”
Exactly this. The only reason I didn’t have my own personal riot about the Suarez deal is be cause he desperately wanted to leave and was unsettled.

9th August 2017 at 4:58 pm #3196It is a different scenario to Suarez leaving,Couts doesn’t want to make a fuss over it and it seems to be Barca trying to call the shots,FSG and Klopp are standing firm and so they should but maybe if an offer in the region of £125 million rears up then i’m afraid they may end up listening.

9th August 2017 at 5:03 pm #3197I think it’s a dead cert Couts will go next summer, almost regardless of how we perform this season. If we finish out of the top 4, he’ll go because of no Champion League, and if we won the league(!!!), well whta a way to say goodbye. I would like to think Phil would say to the club, I’ll give you one more year, I’ll play my heart out like Luis did, but let me go next summer, and I would imagine the club would accept that.
And welcome Taxi – you may have changed your username, but I still recognise the Capital Letters!!

9th August 2017 at 5:10 pm #3200As Alfie said even with money in the PL is been hard for club’s to sign players apart from Manchester City. Selling club’s especially in the continent want some of that PL money so are raising their prices like crazy. I’m actually kinda glad that PL clubs are showing restraint because when the next TV deal is negotiated there may be a drop with what sky and BT paid this time especially with all the piracy/streaming going on. It’s not going to collapse like the ONdigital-gate saga but i still feel that clubs will still need to be sensible, crazy market prices for players can’t go up for ever like they have been recently. Top club’s seem more sensible these days than compared to before and there are better safeguards in place. But I actually wish there were some sort of caps in premier league football like the American sports, or a special law bought into tax premier league clubs so that a certain amount money goes into grass route level football in their communities for paying for things such as floodlight soccer fields so that kids can keep playing football after school in the winter time. Or maybe club’s should be forced to pay the subs of some local teams in the area. This is definitely affordable, for example one week of Pogbas wages could pay for the subs of all the kids in Manchester lol, maybe I’m stretching that but you know what I mean.

9th August 2017 at 5:18 pm #3201Aussie & Taxi welcome! I have bugbear with Aussie and Sean at the teamtalk forum which is why I stopped contributing after the yoursay page changed its format. It is very easy to be negative as default about almost everything that has happened.
Maybe it a defence mechanism to feel the despair before it actually happens but I find this is not in sync with being a fan of a football club. Its very tribal what we all feel and as a tribe we have cannot just say negative things almost everytime we talk about Liverpool. The core team is strong i believe and has potential to push higher than last year. What is needed is a top defender and if Couts stays, liverpool with be a nightmare for many clubs.
I hope in this forum posters will hold on the doom and gloom. Carry on with the cheeky banter though!

9th August 2017 at 10:59 pm #3282Mawke: It’s only a matter of time before the bubble bursts in football or at least the rising costs stop. The game is in the process of becoming unsustainable. Pogba for nearly £100 million and Lukaku for nearly the same. Absolute joke. There’s only so much revenue/margin that a club can generate ans sleeve deals aren’t going to rescue the situation!

I noticed you had some problems logging in. Sorry about that. I have a plugin which prevents spam signups and every now and again it thinks a genuine signup attempt is spam. I changed your display name back to “Bofa” as you intitially tried to sign in with. Welcome to the site anyway!

10th August 2017 at 1:08 am #3288Hi Orbane,
Sorry if I was too negative for you mate, I didn’t intentionally look to post negative stuff I just posted what I thought. My outlook is a bit different now, I’ve had a bit of a rough trot on a personal level & whilst I still love the football I’m certainly not as passionate about it these days.
I think we will improve this season, as will others & I think we will be right in the mix for a top 4 finish. Like last season I think we just lack that bit of quality in depth as we are so I think a title challenge might be a bit too far. I’d class establishing ourselves as a top 4 club again & getting into the C/L proper & out of our group as a pretty decent season. A cup would be a great addition as well.
I think Couts will still be here come transfer deadline as well. One thing is I will look forward to watching us play as I’m pretty confident we will play some stuff that’s easy on the eye.
Can’t wait for the weekend_____________________________

10th August 2017 at 3:53 am #3290BBC are saying we rejected another bid for Coutinho from Barca. I don’t think they’ll get Coutinho this time. I’m glad Barca for once will face a brick wall in their pursuit of players. They were crying foul over Neymar, forgetting that they seemingly always barnstorm their way into getting players sometimes using a range of unsavory tactics.
Everyone knows how much they have to spend and so will raise their prices, they think they will be able to get two Marquee players for 200m, but because of the situation and todays market it won’t be as easy as they think, just ask Liverpool who tried to break their transfer records with Keita and VVD and still failed.
