Congratulafions to City on their win. They are basically through now.
On another note, how come it’s okay to state hatred for the Germans in general, calling Them krauts and nazis, but it’s not okay to point out that City’s owners are from a despotic, human rights violating country that floggs who are deemed to be offenders against the Faith of the ruling class (which the City owners are a part of)?
Why wans’t the “don’t mix politics and football card” waved?

I had to listen to the match on Radio 5 live last night, well I said listen to the match but these incompetent commentators on this programme decided to talk about the penalties and there interpretation of the game. That took up a sizeable part of Radio time. The game was going on and was secondary to what was happening. Radio 5 is useless and I hope GMR is back for the Final on Sunday.
As to the match, First, Otomendi was very harsh but these things are given and the farce with VAR was truly stupid. The second, penalty, although I have seen plenty not given in similar circumstances. Once again, lack of consistency_____________________________

For the first pen I’m not sure what else Otomendi could of done, seems like he tried to move his arm behind his back to avoid giving a pen. Second I thought was one of those that could of gone either way, although I read Sane was offside anyway but VAR didn’t pick it up.
2-3 is a great result for City but it would be foolish of them to think the tie is over. I think Pep will still need to send out a strong side for the second leg.

Adlab, nobody would ever dream of asking you to forgive those barbaric acts or the ones who committed them. What people have an issue with is you seemingly blaming current generations of Germans for past generations’ actions, something which if applied to most nations would create a lot more unnecessary hate in the world.
But the sooner we move away from the topic, the better.

I’ll move away from the argument, and I wasn’t being sarcastic when I congratulated City on their win, even if I rooted for Schalke.
I’m not German, but I know German people having studied with quite a few, and I’ve travelled their country a lot as well. They are in general extremely aware of their past, and it’s just unfair to keep dragging it up. You can’t blame a kid for his father’s sins, right?
I have relatives who had to flee Finland during WW2 because of the Red Army, but I’m not going to trash talk all Russians.
Realizing I already broke my promise made in my first sentence of this post, I promise I’m done now! 😀
On the football I think City are through now. No way they’ll trip at home against Schalke. And with Juventus on the brink of going out as well I think this season is City’s best chance probably also looking forward of winning the CL. In the next few years they’ll have to offload a few of the ageing stars like Kompany, Otamendi, Aguero, Fernandinho and David Silva. And clubs like Real, Bayern and Barcelona are surely going to spend in the summer. But for know they are the side looking most complete and still at their peak. Now or never, so to speak?

Come on now Adlab, the Germans are a great bunch. We can only judge them on what they are now, not what their ancestors were or did. Besides, it wasn’t just the Germans who were committing atrocities during WW2, they just happened to be A) the aggressors B) The losing side.
But anyway, you don’t hear myself and Sean saying that the Brits are this and that. Judge everyone on their merits and all that good jazz.

Hightown, sounds good but as you said Germany is a massive country and I’m on the other side. At the moment I’m about 1 hour south of Dortmund so if they upset the odds and we draw them then I could take up your offer. Moving to Cologne in a few weeks but I can’t see them or Leverkusen making Champions League soon (FC Köln in the 2nd tier at the moment!).
I’m told Munich is a great city although I’ve never been. Bit pricey for Germany but still probably cheaper (and better) beer than the UK!

Threeps – pity! As I say, it was just on the off chance Munich was your home, but not to worry. Really looking forward to it having been to the city before, it’s a great place. But I’ve not been to the Allianz Arena, and I’m really excited about that as well as it will complete the set of top European stadia for me having been to the Nou Camp, Bernabeu, San Sir and Rome’s Olympic Stadium.
Just relieved we’re still in the tie!
