Maybe Sean, but it will be very difficult as Spain and France are at another level, with de la Fuente, an elite unstoppable, serial winner, and Zidane, with his hunger to win.

At at least he’ll get the best out of Wirtz, as a No. 10, his rightful position, and not as a winger. And hopefully Liverpool can benefit likewise.

Wirtz has always done better on the left flank than as a number 10. He played as a number 10 for us last season, he plays on the left for Germany as excels

He plays on the left for Germany to accomodate Musiala, simple as that. When Musiala was injured Wirtz played centrally as the no 10 with someone like Adeyemi taking a more pacey left wing role.

As I said, Germany has too many no 10s.

3ps I had this discussion with Rob when Wirtz got signed, I was saying that he should be our number 10, he was saying he is better suited to the left flank.

After a year I agree with Rob, I agree with Nagelsmann and I agree with Tuchel. Either he plays on the left or we get someone like Thcouameni in to accommodate him with Gravy sitting back or we play him on the left where he has played his best football so far.

We can not have him as a number ten with two playmakers, we need two holding midfielders to get the best out of him as a number 10. Otherwise we stick him on the left and get that right forward in with him for 100 million plus.

Why are you worried Nil? We will sign players this window, it´s guaranteed, none of our targets have moved clubs yet. We got the biggest budget of all clubs in England this summer except for maybe Arsenal, City can´t afford a 250 million window, both us and Arsenal can.

We will sign a forward very soon, we will sign a rightback very soon and then add another couple of players depending on departures.

Iraola is assessing the squad right now, he wants to talk to every player before he makes up his mind about them.

We have to consider the compassionate leave for Gakpo as well and give him the time he needs, we can´t press him as that would be the most unprofessional thing the club could do. We fuck Gakpo over right now and we can forget about any good human beings signing for the club.

Everyone thinks about this when signing for a new job, if we boot out a player after he loses a kid, there is no player that wants to join us. Unless all they care about is money.

This is one of the reasons why playing for Liverpool FC is a good thing, we do not boot players out that have trouble in their personal lives unless they would be beating up their girlfriend. When they get sick or lose a child we stand by them.

No consortium is needed, we just need to show patience. Our first friendly is tomorrow and it´s gonna be two different teams playing 45 minutes each.

I wanna see that game before I say anything about what we need because that game will kind of determine what tactics we will be using.

Except those two signings we need for the right flank, fullback and a forward. Everything else depends on who goes out and who stays.

Bingo, I completely agree. We have a lot of midfielders, talented midfielders, but our midfield is unbalanced. Been saying that all summer. All I was saying is how Germany used Wirtz as both on the left and centrally. Don’t forget Musiala is seen as he equal in talent.

You should build your team around players like Wirtz. Gravenberch, Szoboszlai, MacAllister and even Jones like to play further forward. One sitter and one linker in midfield would improve us, but unless Gravenberch returns to be the sitter we don’t have that setup.

Not sure it was Rob you discussed this with, it might have been me. I said all along how Wirtz played left sided no 10 for Leverkusen and how he played for Germany with Musiala and was largely told by forum members and especially yourself “he’s no winger, wasted out there”.

We could play Wirtz on the left and Szoboszlai central, or Wirtz central and Szoboszlai on the right. In both they could interchange like Wirtz and Musiala do, but with both the other wide player must be someone to stretch the opposition and beat his man.

As we are signing Barcola and Diomande (don’t care what Madrid do, I’m betting Robs house he’s ours), indications are we will play both flanks with pacey wide players and Wirtz will play the no 10.

The rest of the midfield? No idea. And this is my main concern for the season.

Ginger, Iraola will decide how we play, and I hope it’s with two wingers.

For me, I will ALWAYS play Wirtz in the centre as a No. 10 for Liverpool.

In fact Liverpool’s PL and CL success was always built on two wingers, be it Mané, Salah, Díaz or Gakpo – never did we play a No. 10 as a winger, when we won these trophies.

And all the best teams in the world, be it Spain, France, PSG or Bayern, play with two wingers, and that’s Liverpool should play.

3ps we have discussed this but when we bought Wirtz I remember me and Rob having back and forth about his best position, I wanted him to be central and Rob was saying he was better out wide and I was having none of it.

I´m looking forward to seeing the game tonight, even if it is only a friendly and we will play two separate teams for each half but it is the first game under Iraola and a lot of questions will be answered.

One thing we should do is forget every last piece of tactic from last season, like why wouldn´t Gravy want to be the holding midfielder if it means we win the bloody title.

I’m not sure Gravenberch is a DM, I’m not sure what he is. When we first bought him he looked lost on the pitch under Klopp but Slot seemed to find a place for him at DM. But he wasn’t a DM in the tradional sense.

He is brilliant at beating the press with his control, turn and accelerate away and he carries the ball well with that long stride when presented with space. Both these attributes often combined together with sucess early in our title winning season.

But half way roughly through that season other teams cottoned on. Stop the passing lane to him when playing out, or just don’t press at all. His influence waned.

It was well documented last season that he wanted to play further forward, was one of my earliest alarm bells for the season. There was even talk that his dad told him to or something. But Slot seemed to agree, emptied our midfield and results nd performances reflected that.

Thing is he is dreadful vs a low block and he has the ball around the penalty area. Again looks lost.

So what will his role be? Who will play the much needed DM? If we don’t sign a midfielder then it must be him and he must accept the discipline of the role.

This worries me.

Gravy should just play where Iraola tells him to play, if he does not wanna do that then sell him, these players do not get to dictate where they play. His only good season here at Anfield is as a holding midfielder, he excelled for the majority of the season until Slot started tinkering.
